Creature skeleton in set 6559

my son asks what is the dead creature creature in #6559 Deep Sea Bounty? He's convinced it can't be a whale.

    It looks more like a fossil like a Mosasaur or Ichthyosaur because of the wide paddles and prominent teeth, but even then the piece at the back is more like a whale tail and there are also no significant rear flippers. I guess TLG made a hybrid?
