Plague busting building competition 1: Over-engineered

Ok folks, let's get this road on the show.  Whether you are self-isolating, working from home, trying to keep the kids occupied or whatever else try to find time for a bit of building.

New MOCs only, but this round there is no limit to size, pieces or anything else other than your imagination and stash of bricks.  I want to see ridiculously Over-engineered things here. Cars with a zillion wheels, Friends using steam powered make up applicators, City fire leviathans and so forth.

I will let this run until the end of April before round 2 launches. To make things a bit different from before, I want you to vote for the winner as well as creating. At the end of April please dm me with your top 3 from the entries and I will score them up to see who gets the prize. Yes, there will be one if the postal service is still working by then.  I have a selection of polybags sitting in a bucket of bleach, so they should be safe to send out.

To inspire you: Santa has created himself a mech to deliver presents this year. Sadly he spent so much on this that everyone is just getting brick separators.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else comes up with. Happy Building!

I just noticed the bag of brick separators on his back!  I’ll be interested to see what folks come up with...

I'd be happy to offer a prize, if there's enough interest!

That's exactly the sort of build I was hoping for!

I've got an idea that perhaps doesn't quite fit your challenge. It's more a mashup of two themes, but I think the end result sort of fits.

Fabuland mechs should definitely be an entire thing.

    Love it @KungFuKenny!

Hoping everyone is having as good an Easter weekend as possible under lockdown and maybe finding some time to build...

I didn't know building contests were back!! I drifted out of doing these when I was ill, but I definitely need to get back into MOCing, so it's a match made in heaven!

Funny thing about that mouse - when we did some little tableux with the Fabulanders vs. the minifigures, the mouse was absolutely the ringleader of the carnage...

Would a vehicle with 4 wheels, but some supersized features qualify?

Absolutely.  So long as something is over the top/beyond the realms of necessary for the task...

I would enter, but there isn't a third place for me to win :)

Will try to still build something.

It won't win, but I wanted to support @TheOriginalSimonB. Rex's feet are awkward, but someday he needs a proper mech. If I had more time, but... "YAY! I CAN HELP PEOPLE! Sadly, I don't think it's very well armored, Hamm." "Yeah, well, it's hard to get parts when you can only find 4 LEGO sets in Andy's bin here!" (I was actually trying to only use the sets I got for my birthday.)

So, between my health and home schooling we didn't have much time for building regretably. I love the idea of relaunching the contest and thought there would be more people needing something to do, but I guess actually a lot of people are just overly busy with work/kids/etc.

My son and I did have an idea and were building something, it was never going to win any prizes but just to do the challenge :) However, it got freaking dropped on the floor... It was a massive staircase that just went from one room to the room next door, instead of using the door you used this staircase that went up and down. I guess it wasn't that stable since not many bits were left after it fell...

Don't think we'll manage to get it rebuild in time for the deadline. But thank you Simon for launching the contest and there are some lovely entries!

I had also hoped to build something, but there's been a lot of health stuff resulting in a lot of lying down unfortunately!

    @panchox1 he's definilty got enough lights ;)

@Modeltrainman well, I thought it would look cool, but to be honest it wasn't my best, basically a big great brown stuff on top of a one floor building going every which way... Maybe if I'd actually incorporate in bigger building, it might be better. Vanishing stairs in Hogwarts maybe ;)

@TheOriginalSimonB , did you ever decide who won? Will there be a round 2?

Nobody has cast a vote yet...

Maximilian Mouse has a dark secret... he struggles with addiction to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.  Tired of dodging cats and scurrying along baseboards to look for leftover crumbs of PB&J, he decided to take matters into his own hands.  After a long design process, he emerged from his workshop in this...

His fully enclosed and armored PB&J mech provides anti-feline protection, a pneumatic peanut butter and jelly distribution gun (with quick change canisters for different flavors), and a chainsaw blade for making neatly sliced sandwiches...

@KungFuKenny 's Fabuland mech gets my vote ... overengineered PB&J!

My vote goes for the Fabuland mech, too. A lot of the builds had many details in them, but the overengineering works really well here and shows a great amount of thought went into all aspects of the build.
  • snowhitiesnowhitie Member Posts: 3,078
I like the mech, but I'm also really impressed with the overengineerd way the British scientist makes his tea. Lots of nice details in the model. So my vote goes to @SirBrickalotOfLego

Can I vote for myself? If not, then I have to vote for KFK's Mech, that chainsaw is just too cool.

Looks like @KungFuKenny is our winner then.  Drop me a PM with your address and I'll sort out a prize.

As for another compo, I will sort one out in the next few days unless someone else wants to host (and then I can enter!).
