I was in my local K-mart today just browsing and came across set 7962 on clearance for 29.99! There were only two sets and I snagged them both. I dont know if kmarts do clearance items the same across the board but may be worth checking out. They had some other sets on clearance too but I only had enough on me to grab the two I did. I see all the heads up posts on here and thought I would try to do my share.

My lord that is a good find! I've been looking for 7962 but haven't seen it discounted at all, let alone down to $30.

Cool I've been wondering if K-mart had any good deals on LEGO. Never been to one here in SD... maybe it's worth finding out and checkin it out.

I was just thinking about K-Mart today and wondering why we haven't heard of clearance deals there. Will stop by mine tomorrow to give it a try.

They had a 50% off of clearance a couple of weeks ago, but the four near me had only one non-Hero Factory set. They were pretty cleaned out after Christmas. Happy hunting!

^^good, leave them for us :)
  • pantenkindpantenkind Member Posts: 258
I agree about feeling dirty, but I will take that all day to get those deals. The store I was in had the alien conquest hq for 34.99 as well, I am going first thing in the morning to claim one of those. Happy hunting.
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
^ Cripes! Count me in for one (or many more) of those!

I really did not need to hear this - last thing I need is to drive around to all the K-Marts, getting dirty, and ultimately finding nothing.
  • pantenkindpantenkind Member Posts: 258
I only think they had two, if they have an extra one I will grab it then I will sell it to one of you for 10.00 over what I payed for my time. I will let you guys know. Honestly when I looked at it it didnt even occur to me at the time how good a deal it was, I was happy about the pod racers. Once I got home it hit me like a brick in the forehead...Crap...Oh well, hopefully they will be there in the morning and all will be ok.

I'm in Indianapolis. And you? (Get yourself added to the map):

I won't need the box, nor instructions - you can ship the bagged parts and stickers in however small a box you can. Should cut down on shipping fees. Thanks.

Of course, this is all mute if you open the box and find TS parts in them.
  • pantenkindpantenkind Member Posts: 258
    ts parts?
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
Toy Story, I think is what he means. As in somebody returning it without the original contents.
  • pantenkindpantenkind Member Posts: 258
ah, well if it makes you feel better I just put together one of the pod racer sets and all parts were accounted for.
  • pantenkindpantenkind Member Posts: 258
And I wasnt sure if I was going to like this set, in fact had I not found it so cheap I may have passed on it...Its actually a fun build and looks pretty good finished. The pictures dont really do it justice.

No luck here. K-Mart I visited was void of clearance. All the shelves were very neatly organized, labeled, and rang up full price. Not what I wanted from my K-Mart which is usually in shambles. They did have four AC HQ sets on a high shelf, which hopefully someday will be clearanced at 50%.

K-Mart can have some good sales on Lego. Back when I was in grad school, the K-Mart in town was the better location to buy Lego (the only location after Wal-Mart stopped stocking Lego). I only managed to hit it once but they did discount sets in the spring for 50% off and then 75% off. I nabbed my Jango Fett's Slave-1 for $25 only to come back the next day and see it for $12.50 (alas, I was a poor college student so I didn't buy a second one; boy do I regret that).

No luck here either, everything full price.

^ I've been to three recently and nothing was on sale.
  • pantenkindpantenkind Member Posts: 258
I went back and the hq's were gone, in fact it looked like someone came after me and cleared them out. Glad I at least got the two sets I did before they got to it.

Thanks for the heads up. My Kmart had only 1 set discounted AC ED HQ 7066 for 67.00 so I bought my first AC set.

The way that K-Mart seems to work is that they will put a small discount on things. Later at their discretion, they have an extra % off sale. I have made some great purchases this way in the past year, all over 50% off retail. They had the extra 50% off last week, and now I wish that I went. I went today and things scanned at full price or the initial discount. They had one helicopter encounter at $29.99 instead of $39.99. Whenever they do the extra discount that will go to about $15. A couple SW sets were discounted, at least the helicopter encounter, all Atlantis, and Freeing Dobby too. Not sure if Ninjago was discounted. I am hoping the extra 50% happens again soon, but given that they just did it last week probably not. At the beginning of the month they may do an extra 20% off instead. I have seen them do that one in the fall.

My local K-Mart had 7962 for $67. Will keep an eye on it. I'd love to get that for $30ish. I also found 2 Ramses Pyramids for $7 that I'm going to keep an eye on too. I drive by the Kmart pretty frequently. Everything else was full price, messy, and cleared out still.
  • yys4uyys4u Member Posts: 1,093
Thanks for the heads up on Kmart, while I didn't find anything on clearance I did find 2 Kingdoms Outpost attacks. One was opened so I talked them into giving me 10% off. And all this talk about kmart being dirty had me scared, but mine was actually very clean and organized! Barely anyone there too which was nice. It was in a not so good neighborhood either so that was really surprising.

All the Kmarts by me are usually more organized and cleaner then the Walmarts. They just don't have as big of a selection.

Thanks for the post, no luck with great deals like you found, but I did grab a couple PQ Scarab sets for $2.50 (50% off), a Kingdom's Outpost for $15 (25% off) and Knight's Showdown for $3.50 (50% off).

Quite a few sets were 25% off but just didn't interest me at that price (Ninjago Earth Dragon, SW Bounty Hunter, AC HQ, AC Mothership, various Atlantis and one or two City sets like the small boat).
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
@tk79 you found an earth dragon! Where are you? My daughter's friend fell in love with ours but 20 stores later I can't find one. She's happily distracted by a PQ pyramid but I'd still like to find her one.
  • tk79tk79 Member Posts: 329
@Jenni, it's at the Kmart @ zip 48197 (southeast Michigan). It rang up at $26 or 27 (I think?). Is that close to you?
  • malachirobertsonmalachirobertson Member Posts: 268
I saw an earth dragon at a KMart in northern Indiana. If there was a discount, it was small.
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
@tk79 no, I'm in Nashville TN. but I went to the last Kmart in town (having previously checked the others, all targets, all walmarts, all TRUs, most Marshall's and TJMaxx's) and there it was!! It said full price but rang up at $26. Thank you so much for mentioning it.
  • tk79tk79 Member Posts: 329
@Jenni That's great news, glad you managed to find one for them!
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
@tk79 gave it to her today, she jumped up and down and squealed with excitement. Awesome :). Thanks again.
