LEGO teams up with Manchester United for next Creator Expert set

In November, we reported that Premier League football team Manchester United had entered into a licensing agreement with LEGO. At the time we speculated that it could result in a model of Old Trafford, the club's stadium. It turns out we were right. It's being released on Thursday this week!

Here's the press release:

10272 Old Trafford — Manchester United, 3898 pieces

US $299.99 / CA $349.99 / DE/FR €269.99 / UK £249.99 / DK 2199DKK

Build and display a brilliantly detailed Old Trafford model.

Manchester United fans will love building this big LEGO set model of Old Trafford (10272) to show their allegiance to one of the world’s most famous football clubs. The building set for this LEGO football stadium provides a fun challenge to create a spectacular showpiece model.

This model looks awesome!  I bet if you’re into soccer & the team this is a day 1 purchase.  Yes as per the comments it does seem very niche, perhaps because it’s not for me, but in reality it’s no more niche than most of the stuff they do in the 3,000+ piece space!  I’m glad they can profitably do that because the build techniques & pieces get applied to the next set that is worth the $300 to you.  *runs off to open box for 1989 batmobile*

Nice looking set but it doesn't seem very big for what they are asking for it. Makes me wonder what they paid for the rights.

Saw this set in person today at the Lego store and wasn't very impressed due to the many stickers in the seat sections.  However, the field uses very large printed tiles which may be very useful if creating multiple field facilities.
