Creating Custom Duplo Baseplates

Since my kids have gotten interested in Lego Duplo blocks, I’ve been looking for ways to make unique little landscapes for them. Duplo blocks are big, but the official baseplates that Lego sells aren’t that big! Also, I remember having a fun Lego island baseplate when I was a kid that I used to make pirate bases. The internet is a big place, but I haven’t been able to find pre-made baseplates available that have interesting designs like this for Duplo-sized blocked or a massive scale.

So I made 4 different ones!

1. A giant green baseplate
2. A giant blue baseplate
3. A raised green baseplate relief landscape
4. A Melissa & Doug wooden castle

I looked at the post but (correct me if wrong) those are standard Lego Baseplates with Duplo plates on top, correct?  I would like Duplo scale Baseplates in bigger sizes though

Hi Kenny -

They are all the larger Duplo-sized baseplates (larger circles). You can see the size ratio in the included image above (larger circles on both). The large baseplates I made are 40" by 30" (3.5 ft x 2.5 ft... massive!)

Ah, I see now- I was just looking at Lego’s open circles vs the closed top studs of the custom product... my eyesight is not what it used to be!

At first I wasn’t seeing it either, other than a nice looking pirate area.  Didn’t realize somebody made duplo compatible baseplates!  The idea you had with the castle for a playset is really cool!
