I got a good deal on ebay. From what I can tell, if you look hard enough, ebay is a better option in terms of price for this particular set than bricklink.

I saw one for BIN $315 MISB free shipping less than a week ago on ebay and while I was clearing the purchase with the wife it ended. I wasn't exactly pleased.

$440 is the cheapest at this point, I want a GG as well, but will have to wait a few weeks as I have bought several bigger purchases from other members here this week. I haven't started getting any of the modulars yet, I need to get a move on

We all want a GG, bud. ;-)

@drakus That's a reasonable price for it. Maybe a little high for an opened set, but if so, not by much. Enjoy it - such a great set!
  • drakusdrakus Member Posts: 16
The rest of the auctions out there have a ridiculous starting price so this was all I could afford at the moment. The seller stated that it was only build once and comes with original manual and box. Hope to get it this week.

I think I may end up having to get an open one also, I want to get a cloud city and a USC Falcon MISB so the GG may have to be and open box one, ebay is so out of control right now for it, I'm gonna try to wait a month or 2 and try to find one at a decent price

@choob99 - what do you think is a fair price for a new in box GG? UCS Falcon?

Do they have to be mint, or just new and unbuilt, even if the boxes aren't perfect?
  • choob99choob99 Member Posts: 147
@LegoFanTexas they don't have to be mint, I just like to buy them with the boxes in half decent shape and instructions and of course 100% complete, I do prefer to buy MISB but when it comes to the REALLY expensive sets like that, I don't mind buying from another collector that keeps everything together, helps out on the crazy prices to buy that way

I think good prices would be $350(GG), 1500(Falcon) and 800 for Cloud City. I tried waiting on ebay prices to come down on some of my EOL sets I want, but it appears since Christmas prices have been rising dramatically. I don't know why, but it appears people are paying more and more for these sets (I am including UCS falcon).

@Dougout - Those would be good prices...

I can't do those... But I would do $450 delivered for GG, $1,800 delivered for UCS Falcon, and I don't have a Cloud City.

The GG is new in box, sealed. The box is average, not crushed, but not mint either, it has wear all over the box, creases and corner bumps, etc.

The Falcon is actually a collectors edition, numbered COA certificate, but it isn't sealed and the box is in very rough shape. It is new and complete, includes the manual and all original parts bags, but the box is, well, rough. :) Buy it to build and for the COA, not for the box.

@LegoFanTexas - Do you have another Falcon you're holding for yourself? If not, I have to say don't do it! That piece is far and away my favorite and even at the crazy prices it commands now, I can't bring myself to get rid of it.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
@y2josh - yep, I've got a mint condition 10179 still sealed in the factory shipping box that is going to be built one day...

Thought about selling it, and maybe I would if I could find a deal on a used one that I trusted to be complete.

The rough one that I'm selling I got for a fair price, I'll make a little bit on it, just enough to buy some Friends sets for my little girl. :)

@LegoFanTexas I was in my dark ages when the 10179 came out, what is the difference in the "collectors edition"? and how did one get it?

The collector's edition UCS Falcon came with a Certificate of Authenticity. Later runs didn't include this. So far as I know, that was the only difference.

Admittedly, I have no idea how much this adds to the value of the set.

The first 10,000 sets produced have different box art...

see these two listings to see the different box art:

    Collectors Edition:
    http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Ultimate-Collectors-Millennium-Falcon/dp/B000WLW3W0/

    Standard Edition:
    http://www.amazon.com/Lego-Ultimate-Collectors-Millennium-Falcon/dp/B0017V21EY/

The collectors edition comes with a numbered certificate of authentic ranging from 1 to 10,000 and it has different box art, see the red circle on the front of the box.

The set I'm selling has a number below 1,000 on the certificate.

@y2josh - as for the value of the set, that is of course very subjective, but do compare the price on the two sets at Amazon, the first has it, the second doesn't.
  • DougoutDougout Member Posts: 888
yea those would be good prices a little while ago. The falcon is still going up and I bet it breaks 2 grand soon. I saw Green Grocer on Bricklink for $350 but its in a dumb super lot. The two sellers on BL that have cloud city for $800 seem untrustworthy so I would say $900 for that as well

For what it's worth, this weekend I'm driving 5 hours roundtrip to meet a Bricksetter that's selling me a GG for $410. Despite the time/fuel, I feel that's still a great price. If they weren't doing this for me, I'd fully expect to pay $450+ elsewhere.
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 1,996
@LegoFanTexas - After looking at those, I of course had to go pull out the Falcon and see which version I owned, and it's the freaking "collector's" edition. Though, looking at the two on eBay, the price difference seems even more negligible, so I still stand by my decision to keep hold of it.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
The price matters more someplaces, less others...

I suspect that over the next 5 years they may split more, due to the limited number of collectors editions out there.

Or maybe not... If the collectors edition had unique parts, or colors, it would be worth more.
  • choob99choob99 Member Posts: 147
Well @LegoFanTexas if you still have both of them in a few weeks, I will take them both, can't do it right at the moment, the credit card needs to be paid off first, but if you still have them in a few weeks, I'll be glad to take them!
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
    @choob99 - in a few weeks, I'll probably want more! :)

The Falcon is going up on bricklink, the lowest price on there now is $2K. eBay is still less, but I suspect that won't last long. Maybe I'll buy 2 or 3 of the lowest priced ones there. ;)

    Same thing with GG. :)

Oh well, ask me again when you're ready, depends on my mood and how full the house is that day.

I also have a 10143 that I'd do for $650 shipped, about as rough as the Falcon, but the parts are all new.
  • choob99choob99 Member Posts: 147
Of course you also have 10143 also @LegoFanTexas lol You just want me to be completely broke when I make my purchase from you! lol

I own a green grocer, 100% complete, with box and instructions. How much are you willing to pay?

I also own every other modular out there.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
@choob99 - I also have a 10019 for sale, if you're just really wanted to get into debt. ;)

Ha! Ok, I'm just teasing you now... That one is in nearly mint condition, so the price would be at a premium. The other sets are not mint so I'm willing to do rock bottom prices on them.

It's all good either way, take one, take them all, take none, no worries. It is Lego, it is just fun to play with and be around! :)
