Piece count or pricing for early DUPLO sets?

There seem to be some oddities with old DUPLO sets from 1975?

Set 521-8 shows a piece count of 640 elements, which is ... really huge for a DUPLO set.  And also says it's £3.75, which puts it at ... 0.8p per DUPLO element?  That just seems ... oddly cheap to me.  Similar issues appear with other DUPLO sets from 1975.

It looks maybe like the part count is taken from a normal System set (maybe a set with a matching number?), but the rest of the info is for the DUPLO set?  Not sure where the data came from, but might be worth another look.

That's a pretty basic set.  $5 sounds about right to me.

I buy a lot of Duplo stuff for my kid. A LOT.  A set like that is pretty lame...i can't imagine paying more than $5, $10 AT MOST for it.

BL (here) and Rebrickable (here) list 31 parts for this set; that seems more accurate.
