I see two different part counts for my collection

The number of parts at the top of the page is about 10% less than what I see under 'Sets Owned'.
How come? Which number should I believe?

    Both. The one at the top of the page uses the total parts in lego's set inventories, the other the piece count we have recorded in the database.

    Good to know. That means the more scary of the two is more correct...
