Sorry all - it was my question about elf hats that took it off topic. Apologies!
  • playwellplaywell Member Posts: 2,309
@Shib you made a good case even before that tweet.

I now need to know every part that has not shown up in sets. Do we have a topic for it?

You just had to ask @LuLego!

I guess I missed the BAM elf stuff. I may have to stock up on elves this year if they're still around/come back.

I want more of the baseball torso. I fear they may be exclusive to America though...

@Paperballpark I also found them at Watford store, I noticed a lot of them had the glove removed though so be careful when grabbing them!

Ok thanks! I'll have to have a look when I get back to the UK.

@mustang69.    I have those exact figs and plastic case. I believe Legoland Florida had those figs in build a fig bins around Xmas. We've gone there the last three years or so for both Halloween and Xmas.

Now that the Disney Train and Station is announced  (and has completely upended my Lego Purchase Priority List) I think it will totally go with my Winter sets. The building has Vintage train station feel and steam train also right era. I would still like to see aforementioned pub/B&B come along and really like Brickchap's idea of repurposing extra Toy Shop into a different shopping experience.  Any ideas? Outdoor/ski shop?

  • BrickchapBrickchap Member Posts: 1,357
@DarthMaum Yes, The train does a lot better job at being 'Christmassy' but still realistic. The station is a bit large for a village (currently WV hamlet really...LOL) Thanks RE my toy shop idea.

Turning original toy shop into a ski shop would be good, the old fashioned ski shoes would look good. Toy shop (both versions) come with long skis (as does WV cottage) so maybe a 2x2 crate with a pair of long skis and another crate with poles in the window. and some snow shoes somewhere while have one of those shorter skis in the workshop so that the owner could offer a service of repairing skis.

Brickchap, yes! and there are a lot of Winter Friends' items: little skates, and ski hats and goggles...

I'm honestly not sure how many more snowmen and Huskies my village can handle.

I like that the Xtra line is continuing!

I changed the colours on my second toyshop, mirrored the build and turned it into a butcher shop. Loads of sausages, steaks and, of course, turkeys.
Sounds intriguing-- If you ever post a pic I would love to see how it turned out.

I’m liking the look of that winter Xtra set... does anyone know if this railing pieces are pearl gold or maybe tan?

  • Switchfoot55Switchfoot55 Member Posts: 3,356
^I'm going to guess pearl gold

Perhaps it would be better suited to a US Thanksgiving Day set, but what would you all think of a town square / parade? Would probably have to be larger in terms of pieces, but I'm envisioning something like the Macy's Parade... so a building, a few floats, and a Santa sleigh. Balloons might be tough but not impossible?
  • Switchfoot55Switchfoot55 Member Posts: 3,356
^I know there have been pictures posted of people's setups that have something similar to that. They've re-purposed some of the "larger" winter figures (Santa, the Snowman, etc...) as part of the floats.

I think the idea could work well, but not sure if Lego would release a parade type set. It would sort of be the Assault on Hoth, but winter villagey.

They should just do different cottage designs!

Having said that, my WV display is getting so large now it doesn't fit on any single surface in my house.

^ I just started my set a couple years ago and am looking forward to your problem. That said, I have a nice conference table in my office that I’ve used for the display. I’ve also added inexpensive Christmas ornaments from Target to enliven the feel. I figure I have room for 5 or 6 more sets before I’ll need to make some tough decisions.

Is anyone willing/able to post pictures from your past displays? I’d love some inspiration for the future (or maybe point me to where I should look as I’m new to the forums).

Thinking about mocking a WV church out of #75948 or #75954. Curious what you all think

I did one last year using some of the architectural elements from 75954, though in light grey bricks. Currently away and won't be back for a few days, but will try to dig out some photos.

Weird it is September already and we haven't seen anything yet. Between this and the Star Destroyer they have done a good job keeping the lid on images lately.

They've only shown the silhouette of what looks like a Star Destroyer so for all we know it combines both....a big red and green triangle with gold greebling.

@PeanutBrickle  Small Brick City on YouTube has built a church out of those two sets I believe.  Not winter themed though.

@TUSigmaChi, the link that @benbacardi posted 9ish posts up has a lot of photos from the past couple of years of peoples villages.

I'm getting quite antsy to have some sort of news of this years set. Last year we had to wait until September 9th. Fingers crossed it's no later than that for this year!

Marvel at how little of the cottage is left afterwards!

    ...this bit, just this bit!

I love that you know it was 9/9. @Switchfoot55

Most of my focus is still Halloween/fall.

The snippet for the new Lego Star Wars set says they'll announce it on September 5th... would they announce seasonal at the same time?
  • Switchfoot55Switchfoot55 Member Posts: 3,356
^ I'm trying to remember the cadence for last years announcements with Could City and the WV set. I want to say they were revealed close together, but not simultaneously. I had a bit of a theory last year that announcements were being made on Tuesdays (can't remember why I thought that). But if the SW set is on the 5th, perhaps the WV set would be the following Tuesday/Thursday?

I agree with @Switchfoot55 about the timing of the reveals. I think they'll wait a week (or a few days at least) and then annouce the WV set. Also, if you consider they are two completely different lines they might figure they wouldnt need to worry about one out shining the other.

Sorry, wanted to edit to add - unless you are looking for something like what @Paperballpark proposed above :)

Last year the reveal of Betrayal of Cloud City was Tuesday 21st August. Teaser images for the winter village came out on Monday 27th August and the reveal was Sunday 9th September.  All a bit earlier than this year’s, so far...!

Hi all, good ideas above. Personally I like the idea of a little inn with beds for rent on the top floor and a tavern style pub for food and drink on the bottom floor.

it would also be cool to have a small bridge leading into the village. It could be a Christmas decorated arched stone bridge with a small partially frozen stream running below it. I think that would go live with the buildings.

i really hope it’s not a gingerbread house... doesn’t really fit the village theme

^ The bridge would be interesting if you could tie the stream to the hockey rink from last year.

... and maybe a nice cosy stable round the back with some sheep and suchlike, and a young couple looking for somewhere to bed down, and some travelling exotic gentleman bearing seasonal gifts... that sounds quite Christmassy.
Lol. And if there is no room at the Inn, the bridge could provide a dry place to sleep for the night...

Look, it's the 11th of September already with NO legitimate news of what this years set is going to be...

Aside from Stonewars "leak" that everyone has guessed for the last three months, there has been nothing.

Can someone pull some strings already?

Yes, official announcement please!! TLG sure is getting good at preventing leaks (of some sets anyway!!).
