A year since I came out of my dark ages, I am still buying more LEGO than I should. So, following this year's trend, I expect to buy:

    - #10255 Assembly Square.
    - #21309 Old Fishing Store.
    - All The Batman Movie sets (to go along with my complete collection of The LEGO Movie sets)
    - Whatever Winter Village set comes out.
    - All non-prequel-related Star Wars sets.
    - All Dimension sets.
    - All non-skyline Architecture sets.
    - All Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 sets.
    - Various City sets (mostly vehicles).
    - Various Creator sets (minifigure-scale vehicles and buildings, and brick-build animals)
    - All Seasonal sets.
    - CMFs Series 17 and The Batman Movie.
    - Whatever polybags I can get my hands on.
    - Mixels... oh, wait.

Unless I find a girlfriend, in which case it will be whatever she lets me buy.

Assembly square, Old fishing store, CMF17, Batman Movie CMFs, All Batman Movie sets (as JooTog says, to go with the complete collection of TLM sets). And that's the list even before I see any of those new shiny boxes in the stores...
  • emilewskiemilewski Member Posts: 482
    For me for 2017:
    - Assembly Square
    - The next fairground set after Mixer and Ferris Wheel
    - Apollo 11 Ideas set
    - maybe Disney Castle but not sure I can afford it next year)

I haven't really committed to many individual sets yet, but I'm certain I'll be continuing to collect Ninjago, Elves, and Nexo Knights. It'll be easier to decide what specific sets to get once we have pictures that make it clear what figures come in each.

LEGO Batman Movie is also looking tempting. I'm not normally drawn to too much licensed stuff, but if the movie itself is as good as the trailers make it look I'll probably want to pick up at least a few sets from that line.

With Bionicle ending, I guess I'll want to pick up a few Star Wars buildable figures just to satisfy that constraction itch, though in that case I'm more interested in the parts than in the sets.

And of course, depending on what sets seem to offer the most promising parts, I might get some stuff to review for New Elementary. Though that might be a bit trickier what with me returning to college next year, so I don't want to get in over my head.

For me in 2017, it'll be mopping up my wishlist, getting some of the city sets, and then a lotta Bricklink orders and maybe some sets brought for parts. I want to complete at last one MOC next year.

    • Hoping to get Assembly Square early in the year, then I need to rearrange my current modular street layout to fit it in.
    • After that some of the Batman Movie sets look nice.
    • Not much catching my eye from City yet, but who knows.
    • Still need to get the Claas tractor and maybe the little Volvo from Technic.
    • Try and gather more of the SW Rebels sets
    • The IDEAS fishing store looked great, lets see how the finished article looks. But it'll probably need a nice boat to go with it!
  • wunztwicewunztwice Member Posts: 25
I didn't hear about the color parts sets. Beyond those, probably just the Assembly Square and possibly the Caterham or VW Beatle.

NO! Because I have a system, dammit!

For me, Assembly Square, the pizza van, the dragster transporter (more for the truck and trailer than for the dragster), the ATV racers with truck, possibly the fishing boat, and hopefully the Episode VII Millenium Falcon and theRogue One U-wing if they're available at a significant discount. I'm also keen to see what the UCS snowspeeder looks like. And I'll seriously consider the fishing store as well.

For my girls, possibly some of the next wave of Elves.

I've never been too interested in city, but I must admit that the pizza van looks awesome! Definite purchase for me.

    - Assembly Square
    - Old Fishing Store
    - City Pizza Van
    - Disney Castle (if I can ever afford it)

I think 2017 will be as close to zero as it has ever been.   The sets I actually like, I'd never spend that much for a lego set, and for the smaller sets, I would have little use for them other then as gifts.

It's actually easy to say since my kids have grown away from lego, and I have no like or desire to build legos myself...I  enjoy looking at the sets, and seeing what others do with them, but as far a me building and displaying them in my house....not happening.

Am I wrong, or 2017 city sets have some creativity deficit? So far, Is just more of the same, without really innovations (maybe, except the pizza van and the motorbike with sidecar on 60143)

First half year City sets are usually fairly repetitive, and some of that is inevitable considering that Police is a mainstay and there's already over a decade of City sets covering other types of subject matter. That said, I don't feel like the pizza van is the only creative thing on display. The #60151 dragster is one of just two in the LEGO City theme to date, and looks decidedly unlike the previous one (in #60049). And the #60145 Buggy is the first of its kind in the City theme.

Police may be really repetitive as a concept, but this is the first year there's been a car carrier in the police subtheme, and it's only the second double-decker car carrier in the City theme. Banks are also a rare sight in LEGO City — #60140 is just the second after #3661, and the architecture is very different (less modern, more stately).

Besides stuff that's genuinely new or rare subject matter, I also think there's a lot of creativity in how even the more familiar subject matter is being realized. The truck in 60151 looks pretty unique, and there are a few sets making great use of newer parts like the Nexo Power tiles to create unique hood/bonnet shapes for trucks.

This might be a dopey question but when are the, 2017 sets actually released? Is it Jan 1st? Or do they sneak out earlier? I can remember going to a tru on Dec 31st 1999 and buying a couple of new sets that had ©2000 on them and I had to buy them because the Year 2000 was the 'future'. Basically what I want to know is any chance for Xmas? Really want wonder woman set.

It varies. Sometimes they're out earlier, but whether or not that's intentional varies by location and by theme.

In the United States, a handful of the Super Hero Girls and LEGO Batman Movie sets are confirmed to be coming out on Sunday, November 27th. But there's been no such confirmation for the UK as far as I'm aware.

Came here for this. Have to pass on some really nice sets to be able to afford this one. But it will be worth it.

With finalized pics of more sets surfacing, I've been able to fine-tune my wish list some. Of Ninjago sets, I'm definitely planning on getting #70625, #70626, and #70627, with #70623 and #70624 falling in the "maybe" pile.

From Nexo Knights, I'm thinking I'll want all the battle suits, but everything else might wait until Toy Fair so I get a sense of what's coming in the summer. In spite of Nexo Knights really wowing me with many of the sets and with the books like "The Book of Monsters", I'm still not quite as enthused with it as with Ninjago.

If Elves gets a March release like it has these past couple years, it may still be some time before we get finalized pics from that theme, but I don't totally mind because again, waiting until after New York Toy Fair to plan purchases can often make things easier.

Well, another year almost goes by is and we are stating to get new official images of upcoming sets. This list will only have sets revealed by LEGO for release during 2017, no leaks please as there are people that would love to be suprised when the announcements happen and not all leak news are true:
    Lego City:
    -60136 Police Starter Set (the ATM machine is expectacular and the set has a nice balance with figures to populate both Lexcorp and Extremis);
    -60140 Bulldozer Breakdown (a bank that is price attainable, a different colored bulldozer, new female police hair/hat, needs MOC however to complete the bank);
    -60147 Fishing Boat (a nice civilian addition to my city to add variety);
Some good shouts. City theme looks to be on for a strong year.

on that boat though. We've had loads of speedboat/cruiser type things over the years. I got excited when I saw the name as was hoping for a proper fishermans tugboat type set

wouldve had more playability too, potentially with a net and octopus/shark. Movable winch etc etc

    Can you imagine the divorce?

Arguing, individually, about a few hundred videos would be bad, but half a million bricks?

Guys, I've got to admit... he said back in the day that he'd always hoped to find a girl to combine Lego with, but his childhood Lego is still mostly in the wooden box it came over from the Netherlands in... :P Admittedly, this may be partly due to the endless nature of my attempt to sort MY childhood Lego in the attic. I will update you as/when any of that changes!

Not sure how I got roped into Nexo Knights. Probably lack of will power and a love for Castle or anything resembling Castle. Hunting scurriers now for a "red" army!!  My wife however would like me to "get in there and sell, sell, sell!"

I am liking the fishing boat (and the new pizza Van) due to presenting a more weekend look to the citezens, plus I think Lego won't touch the commercial fishing problems.
Imagine Darth Vader and Palpatine on that boat.

Glad I'm not the only one. I must admit that some have come off already as out of all the new technic sets that have been shown there is only now one on my list as after being spoilt this year, a lot of the newer range doesn't seem to wet my appetite at all.

Assembly Square is it right now - the Pizza Delivery truck looks nice and I'll pick that up, but other than that waiting in the wings for additional Exclusives and other niceties to pop up.
