Line management at the Con is the ultimate attempt of futility. They implement the following

    (1) hand out wristbands
    (2) hand out tickets
    (3) pre convention online drawing
    (4) first come, first serve
    (5) badge scanning in line
    (6) badge stamping in line
    (7) pre convention online credits
    (8) raffle drawing
    (9) iPad drawing
    (10) standby line

    there are rules
    (1) line capping because of fire marshall
    (2) line holding for up to 5 people
    (3) line holder for ADA
    (4) everything else line vs hall h line
    (5) no lining up behind convention center before official line starts (where line ultimately ends up)

    limitations
    (1) child badges do not have RFID
    (2) child badges cannot access online lottery
    (3) bathroom breaks
    (4) physical constraints
    (5) limited quantity

    issues
    (1) line jumpers
    (2) line holding for friend’s friend’s friend’s friends...

All this talk on how bad the line was and I'm here sitting waiting on my parts to come in so I can build the Captain Marvel set

Well 2019 SDCC purchases are done, got Spidey, the Captain Marvel set & @xiahna wanted the Batman 80 years set, so she threw in a bit of cash from her personal stash to help cover that one. Paid a bit more than I had hoped, but at least we know they're on the way, just annoyed with this stupid eBay tax (they claim it's for import duties, but import duties don't apply to purchases under AU$1,000 & none of these were even close to that much), I might have to look at getting our purchases next year sent to a friend over there & have them ship them to us.

I’m opening the set next week to build it.

Whats the best way to go about sharing?  Put the instruction images on BrickLink?

@mattytreks you would be the (appropriate gender, considering its 2019) for hooking us up!  I have yet to see anything for this set in terms of instructions.  I personally would take whatever I could get.  People have uploaded images but I'd have to defer to the community for advice.  Again, if you dont mind, your efforts would be very much appreciated!

Kind of disappointed TLG haven't released PDF of the SDCC sets like they did last year, I like having digital backups just in case something manages to happen to the physical copies. Have to get around to scanning in all the SDCC instructions I've got & upload them to my bricksafe acc.

If you're looking to BrickLink the parts for 77903, I built it in Studio:
    https://www.bricklink.com/v3/studio/design.page?idModel=96520

Note the description for the changes I had to do, regarding the exclusive printed tile, and the for now exclusive color for the 1x1 pyramid slope.

One of the worst things about SDCC is the wait afterwards (and the import tax bill!) but finally the sets have arrived!!

Had to include a funko in there, I think it will be allowed on this thread considering it’s the official SDCC sticker Toucan!

@Fireheart it’s ironic you included the Toucan Pop above with your LEGO goodies.

If you read back much earlier in this thread, you will see I was a huge vocal proponent of LEGO offering an SDCC exclusive Toucan minifigure giveaway, to mark the 50th anniversary of Comic-Con in a similar way that Funko did.

That would have been a lifetime grail item for me.  Needless to say, I was disappointed that figure did not see the light of day in 2019, but am hopeful it will one of these years.

I received a SDCC Barb figure last week... Unfortunately, thanks to DHL's awful service, both the outer shipping box and the plastic cover were crushed.
It was shipped through eBay's Global Shipping Programme, so they were responsible for the damage, and they did right by me, by refunding all costs including the shipping. So... Free Barb! But if anyone has a spare plastic container, I'd be happy to pay for it, to be able to give Barb a proper little house again!

Those plastic containers are so sketchy.  And Lego really doesn't like to swap them out when you're at the con. :/  It's a crap shoot on if you get a good one or not even at the show!

Does someone already have an xml file with all the parts for #79003, based on the instructions released by LEGO, that may want to share?
It's weird that after all this time Bricklink still doesn't have a parts list for it.
  • asrfarinhaasrfarinha Galway, IrelandMember Posts: 140
    ^ I'm guessing you meant #77903 ?

I've built it on Studio, so you can get the parts list from there:

Note the couple of changes I had to do, highlighted in the description.

    No, but great idea!

Now it sort of looks like the Bat Signal has a cape of its own, haha.

What are your favorite items here?  I hope you enjoy these pictures!

Where to start?  Seeing your collection has me debating a move to San Diego to increase my chances of bagging some of these SDCC exclusives. :-)  I’ve always been too chicken to pay aftermarket prices.  I love the way you have mixed in other collectibles/figurines with the appropriately themed Lego items.  The case looks spectacular... do you mind me asking where you ordered it from?

Thank you for the kind words!  And I will divulge, being a resident of San Diego certainly makes the logistics of attending SDCC incredibly easier.  But heck, I’d attend each year, even if I lived in Maine.

The case was purchased from Tecno Display, an American-based company where everything is constructed here in the states.  While that results in very high quality, it also results in a high price :/

Glad you asked.  Another perk of living in SD is that I’ve had the chance to develop a friendship with thebrickfan, and so we’ve met up a few times at SDCC and at our local LEGO stores.  He gives out those custom-printed 1x8 bricks to his fans and site followers.  I think I actually might have “earned” it last year when I helped him get a signed Voltron set from SDCC 2018 :)

The rest of that setup is just a 4x12 Plate, the three SDCC 2019 exclusive torso’s that I believe @vwong19 may have first reported, along with my own VIP card.  Darn shame they no longer give physical cards out...because it’s so neat.

@mattytreks - Awesome display and thank you for sharing. It definitely helps to live in San Diego to obtain such an impressive SDCC collection, but @mattytreks also works harder than most attendees by lining up earlier, running around to various events and networking with the right people. A lot of his collection could not be accomplished individually but through trades, purchases and commissions. The collection he has on display did not happen because he lives in San Diego, he worked hard for every bit of those prized trophies.

Love how you have the SDCC figs displayed.

Where'd you get the display cases for the exclusive minifigs?  I've been trying to find those! And where are the other exclusives like the Batman/Green Lantern from 2011 and the four from 2012?  Are they hiding?  Or the aesthetic would look weird b/c they weren't in plastic cases.

Haha, well my little Star Wars corner on the bottom left will be growing in the coming years.  I agree – its a bit sparse at the moment :)

Those cases can be purchased here:

As for the older exclusive minifigs, I said I had two of the four 2013’s, so I’ll probably try and chase down the 2013 Spider-Woman and Super-Man next year, and then yes, at some point I can see myself coveting the 2012’s.  Though that’s as far back as I’ll likely go because God knows how much longer LEGO plans on continuing to keep cranking out SDCC minifigures.  And as you can see space is getting a tad tight on that shelf...though I can compress quite a bit.

Just make it an all Lego case and you'll be golden on space.  The only Lego exclusives I'm missing are those SDCC Star Wars minifigure packs from 2009.  Damn work lay off really threw me for a loop on purchasing stuff back then.

I commissioned that character in particular as that is my favorite SDCC minifigure of them all.  It's also a sentimental favorite because that is the first one I won myself when I pressed the iPad screen wayyyy back in 2014 :)

The good news about Dan is that he also attends smaller cons.  If you follow him on Twitter or Instagram, he's announced earlier this year plans to attend conventions in Minneapolis, Detroit, or Orlando, in addition to the biggies like SDCC and NYCC.
