[UK/WW] - Time for a Clear Out

LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,827
The sad day has come where I need to part with some of my collection, predominantly because it was revealed a couple of days ago that our young 'Jake the Dog' is urgently in need of a new leg [no joke].  I've toyed with selling the odd set now and again in the past but now it's time for me to grit my teeth and put my selfish habits to one side to help him.  Just look at the poor bugger - how can I not?  He is well-insured but as with most insurance companies, they are finding every reason under the sun to only partially cover him, leaving us a few thousand short.

I haven't compiled a list in the traditional sense but instead have provided a couple of pictures of each set.  I simply don't have the time to research the going rate of each and every set so feel free to post/discuss offers here or by pm.  Generally I'm looking for Ebay/Bricklink prices minus 20%, something like that but am open to any worthwhile offer.

In some instances there are multiples of each set but have only photographed one.  I've reduced the file sizes as much as I dare but I will pm high res or additional photos to show any defects etc.  There aren't many though.  Most people who know me know that I take good care of my sets.  Any minor defects found today were likely caused before I took possession of them.  All sets are sealed and most (if not all) are long retired.

Shipping will  be arranged to suit.  With signature or without.  With insurance or without but all will be boxed securely with wrapping and airbags etc.

I live in Maidenhead, Berkshire (five minutes from J8/9 of the M4) and work in Beaconsfield, Bucks (two minutes from J2 of the M40) if collection is preferred or can potentially meet up closer to you, depending on the value of the purchase.

There are a few more to add in the future, just need to find the time to photograph.

Cheers,
James.

    Whereabouts are you based?

I hope you raise the money to help the little guy out. If there’s one thing that people on here do well, it’s rally to help a good cause and this definitely falls into that category :-)

Thanks @Bumblepants and @GeordiePaul and other well-wishing pm-ers.  It's very kind of you all.

It's fair to say that Sarah and I are gutted and I guess any family with a dog (or other dependent pet) would feel no different.  Anything that's needed, right?  As soppy or irrational as it might sound, he's like or third child.  He's more dependent on us than the kids.

I wish you all the best with the sales James and we’re sending our best to Jake.

after spending over a thousand pounds on one of our rescue cats with a failing kidney I fully understand the love we have for our four legged members of the family.

    ^ Thank you.  :)

It's crap isn't it, but what can you do?  Unfortunately we sit in the camp where you just have to go all in and do whatever it takes.  I was saying to someone else this afternoon, Jake is like a third child to us, more mischievous and more dependent.  Certain shows Sarah and I more love and gratitude than the two human kids we have.

    A few more......

Unless I'm being completely thick I can't see where some of the recent sales were advertised (Mystery Machine. Hobbit Lonely Mountain)
Is there a secret list only available to members over 5'4" tall :)

Apologies, you’re right, they’re not in this thread.  I intended to add them but forgot, I’m sorry.   My mistake.

They were previously advertised here somewhere and a couple of other places but I neglected to include them here.  :/

Below are the other sets I’ve photographed so far :-

I actually have two which are probably as good as each other. 8-9/10?  One has a very slight crease in the top centre of the back side (about an inch long) and the other has a slightly worn corner.  Remainder of the boxes are square and crisp.  The one with the crease is probably slightly better imo.

The is another buyer for one but I don't think he would be particularly bothered which he took.  PM me and we can go from there if you are interested.

    Full res. below.

    Cheers, J.

How could you sell Minnie without selling Mickey too? ;o)

I trust she's going to a home where Mickey is keenly anticipating her arrival :oP
