30340 Emmet's Piece Offering [Spoiler]

CathyVTCathyVT Member Posts: 150
edited March 2019 in Everything else LEGO
Am I the only one to see this? Spoiler alert. In the Lego Movie 2, the piece offering heart that Emmet presented to the Duplo when they attacked, is later revealed to be the pieces used to make Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi (source). So I was looking at the pieces in 30340 the Piece Offering, and.. hey - you can make the horse version of the Queen, almost exactly as it is in set 70824! Details: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-22510/CathyVT/piece-offering-queen

Just needs a couple of eyes.  (But that would literally be a complete give-away.)

It shouldn't be a surprise - they SAID in the movie that the heart was the queen. But still a bit of a eureka moment with the pieces in front of me.

Looks like I can't edit my original post. "(source)" was supposed to link to : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lego_Movie_2:_The_Second_Part#Plot and I meant for the set numbers to be links:

You really need to change your heading. You've legit just casually spoiled the best moment in the movie for anyone who's not had a chance to see it. :/

OK, but I don't see any way to change/edit it. If a moderator/admin wants to change it, it could be changed to "30340 Emmet's Piece Offering = (spoiler alert)"

And... the movie's been out for weeks. How many weeks/months/years do we have to hide and warn whatever we say about the movie? How many serious Lego fans (people that read Lego discussion boards) haven't seen it yet (and plan to)?

@Huw @CapnRex101 Can we get a non-spoilery heading for this thread?

I have to say OP, I initially considered the Piece Offering as one of my favorite sets from this theme for what it represents alone, but the fact you can also do this is simply... well... awesome.

Well, I plan to see it, but haven't yet! But I don't mind spoilers. If it was a big deal to me, I'd either go see the movie as soon as possible, or I wouldn't look at any posts here that concerned anything about it. :)

Fair point. I'm forever behind on GoT (I don't have cable, so I just buy it when it comes out on disc), and I constantly dodging spoilers for it for months. I suppose most everyone on here has already been to see TLM2 (more than once) by now, hahaha.

And...this movie hasn’t even been released in Australia yet.  How many weeks/months/years do you have to hide and warn whatever you say? How about until it’s ACTUALLY BEEN RELEASED? (Currently down for 28/3).  How many serious LEGO fans (people that read LEGO discussion boards) haven’t seen it yet (and plan to)?

Probably quite a few in markets the film is yet to be released in...

And I n other news.... Bruce Willis was dead the WHOLE TIME!

Wow, I had no idea it hadn't been released in some countries yet. I wonder why the delay.

I was being serious, asking how long we have to worry about spoilers. Thanks for informing me.

Some people were saying that some of the 2nd round of sets for the movie were released after the movie came out because they were spoilers - I don't know the details, or why people thought that.

Sorry I can't seem to edit the thread. Hopefully an admin will soon.

Re: the Australian release - it’s actually a massive point of contention among the Australian film going public (ok - massive MIGHT be an overstatement). The general consensus is the release delay is due to School Holidays.  The release is due to coincide with our next round of school holidays and while this make sense on the surface, it could certainly be argued that any additional box office take they make from the delay will be more that counteracted by those that view their movies through less than legal channels.  It’s also EXTREMELY rare these days for new movie releases to not be in line (at least within a day or two) of international release dates.  As an aside, we’ve only seen TLM2 sets start showing up in stores (outside of S@H) over the last fortnight! (Which leads ME to believe that TLG don’t care too much about the films release date as its one of those rare instances where they’ve been able to ‘corner the market’ for a little while)

For me I would go with a year after the movie has been released. Now if there are sets or other toys that give it away its far game. Personally I wait till I can watch a movie online.

    Rosebud is the sled.
    Norman Bates's mother is dead.
As is Bruce Willis.  And Hans Gruber.

    You're welcome!

It only came out in Switzerland (French part) 1 week ago (20th). Very frustrating that even for the same country depending on which part (German speaking vs French speaking) there was an almost 2 week difference!

Elsa actually used her ice magic to cause the storm that sunk her parents ship so she could supplant them as sole ruler of Arendale. That was the real secret she was (and still is) hiding from Anna.

That is a reasonable reaction to being barricaded in your room, and alienated from your sister and magic snowman.  Didn't they see X-Men: The Last Stand!?!?

Not all oranges are. Some ripe oranges are green on the outside and blood oranges red on the inside. And obviously unripe oranges aren't orange.

Plus oranges weren't orange for many years, since the colour was named after the fruit (I learnt that on QI).
  • 560Heliport560Heliport Member Posts: 4,262
Hmmm... before there was a word for the color, they were still that color, so they were orange. (The orange ones, anyway.)

I think they were yellowish red in colour though, not orange as the adjective didn't exist. We still call this orange chested bird a robin red breast ...

And seeing as LEGO is Danish, in Danish the colour is orange but the fruit is applesin, similar to the German and Dutch words, meaning Chinese apple. Obvioulsy Lepin were at it back then, with their fake apples.

Regarding comments that you’ve unwittingly given a spoiler...
I’ve not yet seen the film (probably the only AFOL in the U.K. who hasn’t) and as such I know nothing whatsoever about the film. Your comments haven’t revealed anything to me. I see a heart and a horse - that’s all. Only someone who already knows a fair bit about the movie would recognise this as a spoiler. Your comments mean nothing to me!

I’m going to watch that Star Wars-thingy film too soon. Is it any good?

I wouldn't get your hopes up.  Or get your hopes up and prepare to be disappointed.  It'll be the swan-song of the formulaic X-Men action franchise... and it'll be really sucky.

They made Apocalypse into a deep-voiced Smurf.  C'mon!

Using parts from #70825 and #70824 I was almost able to construct the model of the Queen from the official set build in Legoland:

I just need four more 1x2 fuschia plates to finish it properly. I really need to find this damned polybag already, hahaha.

It is good the mods changed the title, as the spoiler was actually there too. At least this way, people can read the title and avoid the thread if they want to be spoiler free.

A Vader is a father in Dutch, which gave a big spoiler to Dutch speaking people. Germans probably got it too, although they couldn't call him Darth Vater, because then he'd be called Darth Farter by the English speaking world.
  • andywilsonandywilson Member Posts: 63
I still remember our poor German teacher trying to get a class of 12 year olds to read out loud or listen to stories about Hans, Lieselotte and their Vater, who they often called "Farty"
