One of these arrived with my order today. Not really a polybag collector so if anyone wants it just give me a shout.

^^ I got one last week and just flung it on the pile, thought it was the same as the parts packs that are in the stores now. It is a poly for sure!
  • atkinsaratkinsar Member Posts: 4,258
Ok @dimefield, you got me thinking now, I've not actually laid eyes on these booster packs that are available in store yet. Can you or anyone else tell me if they are packaged as a poly, it's difficult to tell exactly from the pictures on Brickset.

I purposefully exclude the CMFs from my lists, and I'm starting to wonder if these ninjago booster packs should go on my list.
  • dimefielddimefield Member Posts: 314
No they are packed in a different material than standard polys. The bag is taller than it is wide so i dont think they count.
  • atkinsaratkinsar Member Posts: 4,258
So are the booster packs available for sale packaged differently to the 5000030 free poly?
  • dimefielddimefield Member Posts: 314
Yep its a tougher non "crinkly" material..
  • dimefielddimefield Member Posts: 314
Different than the mylar material some of the new Hero factory stuff comes in too

I picked up one of those sets at the local Lego store. Since I have no interest in Ninjago, I could probably trade it. I'm in the U.S.

I'm interested in polybags given out by the Sun newspaper in the U.K. that aren't available in the U.S. especially Super Heroes (30160 & 30161), Dino (if there is any) and maybe another Alien Conquest walker (30140) or possible another Jet Pack (30141). PM me if interested.

    ^ Superheroes/dino haven't been given away yet :-)
Walker was limited quantity - I didn't manage 1 for my self... :(
I am happy to trade for a ADU Jetpack though.

Ok thanks all, I've decided that the 5000030 is a valid ploy and belongs on my bricklist, whereas I'm putting the retail booster packs into the same category as the CMFs i.e. they won't be making the list. My bricklist, my rules ;-)

^ Objection! If the item in question is not a clear / partially see-through polybag, it should not qualify. I call for an article 39a Session...the polybag has rights.
  • atkinsaratkinsar Member Posts: 4,258
^ Overruled! Seriously, I think there's a few that would fall foul of this rule if applied to my current lists.

^ Such as? I've never seen a Brickmaster poly but all others I've seen fall in line. The only different ones I've seen are CMF and various Ninjago stuff. Even the LU rocket and TRU minifigure magnets are all standard pollies.

Club Max, Bricktober Magnets and a few others are in the same packaging as the 1st in the photo above. Take a poly such as 30111 The Lab. The US version has clear at the top, bottom and down the middle, but the UK version has no clear sections. Now the question is whether Andy has to collect both variants :o)

Anything in a bag (!), should be classed as such!

As for variations, I also see these as valid additions as it indicates how the set was marketed and released!!

Such as the 30111 set, no clear sections for retail display pegs (US) as released in the UK and other countries to indicate a promo giveaway, although this doesn't always follow??

Many polys have also been released with different shop/restaurant/outlet logo markings, I always try to collect these regardless if I already have the set. I find it interesting to see how these sets find there way to us!
