Unfortunately Deutsche Post changed their shipping policy at the beginning of this year :-( Previously I would have been able to send items up to 500g to the UK/US for just 6.20 EUR (tracked, no insurance) as a "large letter" via Deutsche Post. Now anything other than documents has to be sent via a parcel carrier, which is more expensive - e.g. 11.50 EUR (tracked and insured, up to 2kg) to the UK or 20 EUR (tracked and insured, up to 2kg) to the US, which is absolutely ridiculous, not to say extortionate!
I suppose it's only worth it if you buy other stuff to mitigate the shipping. Perhaps there are others in the US interested in the other sets.
One would think that the rise of e-commerce would have led to more reasonable international shipping costs (higher volumes of business usually implies a lower cost per unit), but it's been the compete inverse, with prices climbing to absolutely prohibitive levels. Even importing parcels from the US, something I would never have blinked at evenfive years ago, is starting to creep up too. It's nowhere near the unreasonable levels of Canada to US shipping, but it has more than doubled inside the past fifteen odd years.
Shipping from Europe isn't all that terrible when you think about the service involved. It crosses oceans in a reasonable amount of time, for an acceptable cost.
