Having seen them online, I am wondering what the MSRP prices are overseas as I want to avoid overpaying for them tremendously via third party sellers.

I think Indonesia and Malaysia are cheaper avenues compared to other markets.
Is this correct?

Go to the lego shop website and change your country to those of interest and enter the prices into xe.com

We don't have the LEGO shop site in our country sadly. Most Asian countries don't.

Anyway, we don't know the prices here yet. In Singapore 80101 is SGD89.90, and in Australia it's AUD89.90.

Malaysia will likely price it at RM299.99 or thereabouts, based on past experience.

Based on the current exchange rates, Singapore is the best priced, then our price. The price for Malaysia looks pretty painful.

Has anyone spotted these in Lego shops in China yet?

I wonder what the Lepin price will be - and if they will sell more than LEGO to European and US customers. With LEGO restricting sales of these based on location, Lepin could well jump in with this one.

I think the sets look quite eloquent and would love an opportunity for them to be available for purchase in the U.S.

CORRECTION: Malaysian prices have been released, and are as follows:

    80101 - RM269.90
    80102 - RM249.90

Those sound a little better if I remember the exchange rates that I saw when I did calculations.
  • Baby_YodaBaby_Yoda Member Posts: 1,295
    Australian Prices are:

    80101: $89.99 = RM267.92
    80102: $79.99 = RM238.15

So Australian prices are very slightly lower than Malaysian. Shipping from Australia, on the other hand...

I would love to work out a way to get all three of the sets.

It would really surprise me if these weren't available on either coast of the US.

Where or through what method in China might you buy sets like these, given no [email protected]?  I teach an English class in southern China each summer, and have never seen real Lego sets for sale, even in Walmart.  Just lots of "BLOKZ" and "Lepin" knockoffs.

They were not in the Hong Kong LEGO stores as of last weekend.

LEGO Flagship Stores and LEGO Certified Stores, mostly. According to this article from back in September, there were 36 stores at the time of writing, and plans for as many as 60 by the end of the year.

I've seen actual LEGO at stores in Guangzhou and Shenzhen but not sure what the store names are as they were just mall stores with a variety of toys.

You'll be able to get it on taobao if you've got access to that (that's how I obtained a previous China only set a few years ago).  There's this place in Shenzhen which appears to be a possibility:
    https://www.nowshenzhen.com/news/the-first-lego-authorized-store-opens-in-shenzhen/

Also, I'd be amazed if it's not sold at the actual Lego shops in Hong Kong.
(You don't say where in southern China so no idea if Shenzhen/Hong Kong is viable for you!)

Interesting!  I'm in Dongguan, right across from Hong Kong.  I got very excited when I saw a couple of Lego sets once on a random cart vendor, but that was the extent of all real Lego I've seen in China. I'll have to give a more dedicated hunt this summer.

I guess there is taobao, we just can't find how to use it without a Chinese bank account for for WeChat.  How to make this into a class project...

The first two are popping up but not 80103, anyone know when/where this is one is showing up.
  • PaperballparkPaperballpark Member Posts: 4,260
I'm sure I read somewhere that it'll be later in the year. Around May maybe?

That would track with the time period for the typical observance of those sorts of festivals: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_boat

Make sure you contact Lego support through their contact form to let them know you're disappointed they're not selling these in the US and Europe. They actually take note. Try not to be rude about it.

I highly doubt they'd care in the slightest. The US have access to a great deal of exclusives that those in Asia and Oceania have to pay several times RRP for on the secondary market. Also worth noting that there are barely enough sets for the current regions as is, and opening up to the US and Europe would increase the demand by far too much.

Um.  They'll just make more.  There is no such thing as 'too much' demand.  This company is in the business of satisfying demand.

They're not very good at meeting demand here at the moment. The sets are still sold out in LEGO stores and Toys r Us stores, but apparently have started appearing in Tescos of all places. Pity there isn't a Tesco near me.

These both popped back into stock for ordering on Amazon.jp at MSRP tonight. I was able to order 2 of each for $375 total. $93.85 each shipped seems fairly reasonable to me. I think 3 may have been the limit of each to order, but I didn't check. 80101 is still available and is $100ish to with shipping to order one.

Do you know in The price in JPY that was listed for each.  Seems to be lower than a couple days ago.

Just got #80102 Dragon Dance in a separate order. Can't get a combine to happen so I'll just pay the extra shipping/ import costs rather than missing out.

It’s about $7.50 difference for 2 sets shipped together vs. separate.

Anyone want to try a bulk order to the UK? I would love a dragon dance or two!

I'm hoping the parts will be available via B+P, even if the sets are not. The torsos appear to have the neck print for orientation identification during the printing process, which suggests that they were not produced in China. The Chinese produced CMF and so on don't have the neck prints. I wonder if that will help with the distribution of parts worldwide. They also don't appear to be licensed through the replacement parts section, whereas some other parts (such as the heart tiles) are coming up as licensed.

Just remember bulks are more likely to be pulled by customs and get a 20% VAT surcharge and £8 collection fee. It all starts to add up...,

The Emperor is from Wichita, Naboo.  He clearly has a midwestern accent.
