I was not expecting anything, but will have a look when I get there :)
2 hours in the shop should be plenty, I expect to use 1 hour shopping, then I can use the rest of the time feeling for the right minifigs.. I guess more tour participants are hunting for minifigs with series 19 just out, so maybe we can get a Bucket brigade aka minifig brigade going :P
Had the chance to meet the excellent @Roebuck, @Legobenmax, @minicoop4, and many others, who I know lurk here, even read this thread, but for some reason haven’t yet registered (you know who you are! ;) All the staff at Lego - the designers, Lego House, factory etc were amazing too, and the utter kindness of them all takes my breath away. I hope I get the chance to meet them again (and others!) in the future.
The Inside Tour set this year is everything I hoped it would be. In fact as a modular building fan it’s probably my favorite of all the Inside Tour sets released up until now, so I’m very glad I was on this tour.
Now I just gotta get the box back to SF in pristine shape...
You are so right Mr.Hobbles.
The last 3 days were just amazing and nearly breathtaking. All, the participants, the guides and everybody we met, definately had the LEGO DNA.
what else to say. Oh well, yes :
“ welcome to the design ...“ 😂
The first 1-2 hours on the drive home I was just sad it was over, but then all the amazing memories made me happy again!
Hope everybody get home safe and that the Lego is in one piece especially the fantastic trophies you @Mahonie13 and a few others won ;)
luckily my seat was right next to the cargo door of that plane, so I watched every move the ground crew made with my oversize baggage 😉
And for sure like everybody from the Tour I didn’t gave the ‚special one‘ out of hands.
Hopefully nobody had any trouble with their transportation
My son is feeling sad this morning as he returns to school but has lots of great memories and photos of his three days with you all and can't wait to start building all his new sets [Inside Tour Set already built - best set ever he says :) ] and is inspired to do more of his own creations.
Hope to come across some of you again on our lego travels!
I too managed to get home to SF safely, with what looks like every box 100% intact, despite (probably) the best efforts of Virgin Atlantic's baggage handlers. The Inside Tour box was carried in hand baggage - no way I was taking that risk!
I plan to build it this week - @Legobenmax is right, it's an amazing set.
or did you ship these yourself.
in the end you‘ll have it faster in SF than me here in Germany. maybe thats because of DPD, the great new parcel service that LEGO switched to here.
With what parcel will your boxes be delivered @MrHobbles ?
oh and Slaintje ;-)
And Slaintje Mhath to you! Merely saying that has ended up with me pouring myself a dram of Laphroaig 10. :)
I heard someone say they skipped the MF for free since it did not fit in the box?!
Looks like it did or is it a bigger box?
Personally I managed to barely fit (after removing the outer extra brown box on Hogwarts):
-Corner Garage 10264
-Tree House 21318
-Hogwarts Castle 71043
@Mahonie13 I am sure they say 4 weeks to be on the safe side, I guess most of us will get it in the end of this week or the beginning of next ;)
well @Roebuck, the MF Box is 45x38x53. If I remeber that correct the boxes they gave us were 60x50x40, so should fit.
I was actually just a glimps away from bying the MF there, even because of the free shipping, would have been a lot of spare bricks for next MOC's !!
puuh, that was so much stress at the shop to pack the box with as much sets as possible to reduce the weight of my luggage. I envy everybody who came by car :-)
In addition to all the Lego, I bought some stuff to my aquariums and beer for my brother so when I came to the "hotel" (it was so crappy compared to the Lego castle suite) in Fredrikshavn I had to go 4-5 trips to carry everything from the car and into the room and the same move the day after (did not dare leaving anything in the car). No way I could have gotten all that on a airplane, even only the Lego would be impossible with only 2 suitcases :S
So I do not envy those flying even if it would have been a lot faster :P
@Roebuck whaaaat, you bought something else than LEGO ?
SHAME on you *lol*
This weeks tour is just ending their time in the store.
I got a mail from DHL yesterday afternoon that the parcel had gotten a tracing number, it shipped a couple of hour later and this morning it is already in Norway :O
I will probably get it today so it is really express I must say ;)
@Mahonie13 Haha, lol :D
By the way, yesterday I built the ‚Inside Tour Set‘ and made a little stop motion video.
Brillant set, great building. will publish the video the next days if it looks ok
@Mahonie13 Please do post that video! I built mine too (and put some pictures in the status thread, but didn't take any pictures of the process! Darnit.
Ps. All my Lego employee "business cards" are now sat in the boardroom having a meeting, along with my minifig, and the Idea House minifig. :)
@Mr_Hobbles - my son thinks that’s pretty cool so I think I’ve just lost my set of business cards to him 🤣
He’s just finished the tree of creativity from the House so he’s deliberating about what to build next (so many sets to choose from from Tour and his charity shop finds 🤣)
We’ve had a text to say delivery expected Tuesday so the final consignment will arrive and then the problem of where to put those 2 huge boxes.......
I used 1,5 hour to look true all the Lego on Loplet the day before the tour, but only bought a few animals :)
Then we took a wrong turn to the bus station and found a charity shop with a Lego window display. He bought a small SW set and a Ninjago set - both unopened and for good price. There was lots more but he wanted to save his money for the employee shop.
We never got to Loplet ran out of time - is it worth a visit next time we visit Billund?
You probably have it tomorrow then :P
That's the one regret I had in Billund - didn't have a chance to visit Loplet. Oh well, next time.
@Croweturtle Yeah as @Roebuck said, it'll be there very soon. I think mine was sent 48 hour delivery. Not long hopefully!
@Mahonie13 did your shipment arrive yet?
My new desk at work is currently devoid of all the Lego and I've been questioned/yelled at by about 9 people so far. They told me that my desk in that state is "unnatural" and makes them uncomfortable... It's only been two days.
Me - built
My wife - sealed
Reading the LIT 2020 thread, it's full of posts about rescheduling until 2021, and then 2021 was cancelled too. No doubt the tours will be back (and presumably with a new improved format!), and while it's disappointing for everyone in 2020/2021, but I can't help but think how lucky we were to be chosen in 2019.
The System House set still remains my favorite of all the LIT sets (though perhaps I'm biased!), I couldn't have asked for a better set for my tour. It still takes pride of place on one of my shelves and brings me fond memories whenever I look at it.
It was a pleasure to meet everyone on the tour. Maybe we'll all see each other again on a future tour, but if not, I'm still very glad we had the chance to meet once, and I wish you all an excellent year ahead in 2021. :)
@560Heliport I believe you can apply every five years. I plan to apply again when I'm eligible. :)
I too can not believe my luck that I was able to go in 2019 when I see how things have developed in 2020. I had such a great time in Billund that I planed to go there again last year. Of course most of it was because of the inside tour, but I really enjoyed eating breakfast at the bakery and go to the Lego store in the Lego house hunting for animals among the BAM parts in the days before the tour started. We do not have a Lego store in Norway yet so it is always a treat to visit one. Legoland and especially Lego house was fun visiting and they are there tour or not. Loplet unfortunately do not exist any more since the owners retired and closed the shop. However I do hope a similar shop with used and rare Lego parts will rise from the ashes in Billund some day.. The P-shop I would not mind visiting again either and Skærbæk Fan Weekend have a stop there, but that was also cancelled last year of course (will see how things go this year)..
I still have not built my Inside tour set, so I can still look forward to that ;)
Hope your dog are doing fine :) I got a new a smooth haired black and tan dachshund puppy last summer, so perfect that BAM did a matching recolour of the dachshund from CMF series 19 that we got when we where in Billund ;)
Betsy is doing great, I hope your dachshunds are good too, and the new one! I didn't know Lego had released a dachshund recolor through BAM...now I have to add that to my collection!
Ps. To the 2020-2021-2022 folks lurking in this thread, no offense intended in this thread by saying we were lucky! I hope you get to go on your tour in good time and have a great time. It's definitely something to look forward to! :)
