Marking a Complete CMF series as owned in the database

Just wondering... if you have a full series, do you mark the "LEGO Minifigures - xxx - Complete" entry as owned and remove the single minifig entries, or do you keep those as well?

As the complete one says "contains xxx-1, xxx-2, etc" I only mark the full series entry as owned, but I also think Brickset doesn't actually take those "contains" entries into account for statistics, or does it?

Not in set statistics, no, but the figures will count in your minifigure stats.

Ahh, good to know! Thanks for the clarification, Huw.

I mark them as one full series for a complete set so I can use the singular entries for doubles purchased because I like the figure and don't want to split them from the set or (the shame) because of inaccurate bag feeling which I can separate out for trades if needed.

It does also have a small advantage of keeping my set figure at the top of the Brickset home page a bit lower than with the individual minifigures, just in case i'm being monitored by the boss. ;)

The real question is: If you Bricklinked the CMF, do you actually own it? ;)

(No, but make sure you get an insert, just in case.)

Well having read this thread I’ve spent the last hour converting my CMF owed details to full sets plus individual extras.
@bandit778 agreed that this brings the sets owned to a much more acceptable level!

Glad to have inspired you :-) To me it made sense to do it like that!

@sid3windr I agree, I did think my previous set count looked top heavy with CMFs. This has taken my total down to 999 sets so seems like a good reason to go and buy something to get to a nice round 1K sets!

Way back then when I bought a sealed box, I just entered as one full box, but that time minifigures in a full box weren't added to the minifigure count (not sure about now).

So I've since changed all to sets owned, i.e. if a full box had 3 sets plus 12 extras, I'll enter as 3 sets of 16 and the 12 extras add individually.

But I believe the individually added minifigures still count towards the set total, means driving up the figure artificially?

Not content with converting CMF count to full sets plus extras (still in Sets) all single CMFs now recorded as loose minifigs and not as Sets. Much reduced set total. But did notice Maggie Simpson missing as an loose minifig option from Simpson’s 2. Virtual sorting almost as satisfying as the real thing.

^ she's categorised as a normal Simpsons fig because the CMF version is the same as that in one of the Simpsons sets.

If I had £1 for everyone who asks about her I'd be at least a tenner better off :)

@Huw - noted thanks.  I assume that'll be why the CMF1 Homer showed as having 2 then - same as the House or Kwik-E-Mart version. I was just transferring the CMFs from Sets to CMFs as individual figures.

If you record them as loose figures then the minifigure baseplate and accessory won't be added into the system?

@recce I don't think I'm that much of a detail freak (yet), although I did actually get the 2nd Maggie figure just for Santa's Little Helper for my dog collection! And the pile of extra baseplates is beyond ridiculous. On balance I think I prefer to consider my 'spare' CMFs primarily as the figure and some have their accessories with them while other's have disappeared into the various sections of other items in my less than exact storage system.
