Michaels is now selling LEGO

The craft store Michaels is now selling LEGO. Prices are MSRP. Sadly, you can't use the 40 to 50% coupons in the Ads or online. Looks like store pickup is available too. You can check out the inventory at http://michaelskids.com/

Really? That's very interesting! Thanks for sharing. :)

I think stores like his and kohls carrying Lego is a result of Toys R Us closing. I just hope we see sales in the future with these stores excluding Lego from coupons.

I don't expect much in the way of sales, but these new places will add more clearance options to the mix since I do not believe Lego (at least the pricier sets) will sell well in store.

A number of these craft type stores regularly run large discounts with few if any exclusions. Might be work checking their mailers as you could easily stumble onto a 25-50% off coupon on one regularly priced item.

Go for the cheap frames, stay for the fragrant potpourri.  And styrofoam balls and cones.

Honestly, most people that shop at these stores know nothing about Lego. They just know their kids/grandkids play with Lego so if they see a $20-30 or something small set on the shelf they snag it as a little birthday gift and be done with it. Most of the big sets seem to be online only anyway.

EDIT: I said MOST. If you're reading this, that excludes you. XD

I'm waiting for Hobby Lobby to carry Lego. Maybe I can use the 40% off coupon from the app.

And maybe I can get a LEGO brick-shaped toilet paper holder and lamp.

Slick deals will do that to a website.

I would be upset, except many of the sets I want are still likely around for at least another year, and I'm hoping we see 30% off on those again (like the Creator coaster, Passenger train, and the City Hospital)

Got this in a email today. Looks like there first build and take, but you need to buy a set first.

..and why do all the parts in the picture look like used dirty 80's brick and plate?
Oh good...I thought my eyes we're playing tricks on me.....They did look dirty.

Took the kiddos to the build today. At 3:45 we were the first ones there and the only ones to show up when we left the store at 4:15. Not much to the builds but here are the  instructions for it.  (there only 4 so following the instructions wasnt a big hit)

Probably didn't bring too many in because of the required purchase. Also the build didn't seem to thrilling. Now if I would of known about all the decorative pieces (particularly the hearts), I might have been more tempted to have my kids participate.

Our local Michaels now has the Minifigure Series in. Lego Movie 2, $4. Harry Potter Fantastic Beasts, $5.39. Collection 19, $5.00.  No thanks at those prices.

Huge sale on display cases right now...
I literally saw this yesterday morning and went to the closest Michael's...there was some kind of general clearance on random things, but nothing for display cases! The entire aisle was stocked with the usual stuff at full price. Is this sale only online? Or did I miss the window of opportunity for it?
  • OnebricktoomanyOnebricktoomany Member Posts: 426
Online with shipping or pick up in store.  Picked up several of these.  Big enough to hold a few of the modulars, but not all, or minifigs or Mocs!

These ones are quite good for displaying minifigures.

Thanks @Onebricktoomany! I'll check it out and see what I can get. I saw those football ones at Michael's and it didn't strike me that one could fit any modular building. I guess I better get some accurate measurements before ordering.

@M_Boss love the recessed look!  I have a couple of those cases but did not put them between the studs.  I’ll have to look into doing so!

@Lego_Lord_Mayorca the Brick Bank, Detectives office and Pet Shop all fit. Anything bigger will not.

Can confirm! I have two of the three you mentioned. Don't think my Grand Emporium or Fire Station will make it, though. Definitely not Assembly Square! Thanks.

Michael's also has a baseball bat case that works pretty well for Brickheadz. The inside dimensions are about identical to the standard size single Brickheadz box (e.g. Emmett, Wildstyle, etc.), so you can display either unopened boxes or built figures. Obviously fewer boxes fit than built figures.

    https://www.michaels.com/studio-decor-baseball-bat-display-case/10174362.html

There are some wood panels and a plastic cup that hold a bat and ball, but they're very easy to remove.
