An upsetting story in the news today about these:

    Let's hope it's the only one... :(

Whilst I'm sure things like this do happen, I'm always very suspicious of stories like this (call me cynical).

Tbh it hadn't even occurred to me to be cynical, but I once found a staple in a bottle of milk, so I'll believe anything could turn up anywhere!

Hey, if anyone is able to secure a couple of sets and some extra sealed packs for me, please drop me an PM.

Although I assume there will be copious amounts of these around, I like to get ahead on these things.

    Thanks!
I can't remember who offered, but if the promotion is ending - I'd like to get a couple of these!

Hi @SumoLego I think that was @Speedman29 who said he'd help you out. But between us, I think we'll all end up helping him help you helping each other :)

I'm going to be done with my own set (spending a fortune in Sainsburys on stuff I dont need) when a few @Gibbo1959 sends arrive and I will be close for @Muftak1 set too. Can then see about what I can do for yours

I had the rudest cashier ever a couple of days ago.

I often spend about £4-5 in Sainsburys Local and if I have the kids with me and they ask for LEGO cards, they often get given a few packets each.

I spent £9.92 in a larger store at the weekend. I asked if I could have a pack and the cashier told me I had not spent enough, so I said that I though I had spent just over £10. To which I was told that £9.92 was less than £10 and that I should read the poster before asking and that if I needed help doing sums I should ask for the manager. So I left all the shopping there.

I've got almost three full sets. So once the last few arrive I'll send one across the pond to Mr @SumoLego

Will just mention it here as well as the swapsies thread - just needing 1 x 30 (Strongman) and 2 x 93 (Gas Station) to complete my 2 sets - and thanks to those what are sending their swaps - so if anyone can help with the last few it would be much appreciated.

Kidderminster store are running swap shops again: 2nd October at 16:30 and 6th October in the afternoon (13:00 I think). Not sure if any other stores are running something similar.

^ Good call - will check with my nearest stores. Also see there are swap groups on the dreaded facebook as a last resort!
  • bookmumbookmum Member Posts: 1,511
@CCC that is terrible. It's not like the cards are running out and they are having to ration them. My nearest Sainsburys is literally five minutes walk up the road but I had pretty much stopped going there because it is a terrible branch. As soon as the cards finish I will be back to Tesco or Morrisons. It would be interesting to see how much extra money Sainsburys made during this promo and as soon as it finishes will their sales drop again.

That is awful @CCC Mrs Speedman went up our local and spent £7. She bought a 50p pack and they gave her 10 more packs for nothing.
  • RogerKirkRogerKirk Member Posts: 365
@CCC terrible to hear your experience. I've found cashiers to generally be very helpful thankfully, one giving me 10 packs when I should only have had one and several more giving me more than I should have got. Got to hope they were just having a bad day, otherwise I can't see them lasting long in that job.

Yes, my local Local is great, if kids ask they just give them out easy as anything. Although I go in there at least once a day so they know me quite well.

Oh, man.  I don't think I need a French set.

Yes, you can collect the French ones by shopping at Auchan (both in France and Luxembourg). Not collecting them myself, but doing my bit to get my nieces to a full album. Hardly a big help, as I seldom shop there, but fortunately their nanny seems to do her daily shopping at Auchan.

The trek down to Luxembourg for my groceries is a bit much.  (They won't let me bring the bananas back on the plane.)

Talking of variants, has anyone else noticed that the backs of the cards are all different? I have four no. 1s all with different coloured patterns on the back. Anyone looking for a full set in each colour way?

This is for you to play dominoes. The cards are used to match against others, upside down. Also, on the fron of each card is Rock Paper or Scissors, for you to  play with them that way too :)

I've noticed this, but with some cards proving hard to find, and no way of knowing how many varient backs there are, I'm not even going to bother.

(And then you need French variants as well...)

No idea what they are doing with them, but the branch we do our shopping at, has had two storage trollies - one with a ton of albums, and the other with cases of cards. The cigarette counter still has a few boxes of the purchasebable packets too.

Sorry to add to an old thread, I will post in MarketPlace too. Since the end of the cards ,my neighbors, my mum, the school, friends and even people locally I don't know, have given me a number of unsorted cards, but I'm pretty certain, I can make a few sets. I have a few books left, that I paid full price for, (in case they ran out like last year) so I am looking at trying to make some sets to earn some Xmas money, as well as (depending on how many sets I can make)  a collaged/framed set the school can put in their Xmas raffle (even if I put them next to each other, in a frame, which would probably look neater)

Is anyone after a reasonably priced set with or without book?
Is anyone after any cards missing, that I may have spares of left over after a sort?

I'm not looking to be like an eBay trader, I want to help people on here who might not have been able to get them, or may be missing a few cards still?

I have also got a few of LAST YEARS sets, that I didn't know I still had, I thought they went in the recycling. I have one spare book though, but a few sets. Are these of any interest to purchase by anyone?

Please drop me a PM if you are interested in any of this years sets, or last years. If no one is, I wont try and sort, I'll just try and make some kind of art/collage/ordered framed set.

    Thanks
