There are more details in the here. I got my first four packs today from the office home delivery order. Look very similar to last years ones, with minifigures on most with chrome minibuilds on a few. I'm off to my local to get the book later.

I knew this a couple of weeks ago. Told by my Sainsburys worker sister. She said I couldn't tell anyone because Sainsburys didn't want it leaked. Bit stupid if you ask me. Everyone probably went and bought the new school uniforms last week at Asda but now they are probably thinking " Darn it. If I had waited I could of got the ugly grey polyester this week instead and I would of got some cool cards out of it ".
(Memo to self....don't forget to buy the school shoes.......)

I got 4 packs this morning and one of the books to put them in. Will be opening them with my little boy when he finishes nursery later.

Just been into the Winnersh store to get a few bits, some albums and get free cards....nothing. Asked at CS desk and they said it was a mistake by the advertising department who put Wednesday 28th August on the posters.

However a colleague did some shopping and came back with eight packs of cards....and nobody else has claimed to be collecting them yet!

Hey, if anyone is able to secure a couple of sets and some extra sealed packs for me, please drop me an PM.

Although I assume there will be copious amounts of these around, I like to get ahead on these things.

    Thanks!

Will they be producing more albums this time ...?

@SumoLego suggest you tap up @Pitfall69 while he's over here and he can fill up his family's luggage with cards and albums for the US market.
  • SumoLegoSumoLego Member Posts: 15,215
    Ooo... good call!
  • darthdcdarthdc Member Posts: 228
So, does this mean the same problems as last time? Mis-cut cards, packets with less than stated number of cards, and mountains of swaps.
  • Speedman29Speedman29 Member Posts: 2,291
12 packs opened. All cards look fine, just three duplicates!

I'm looking to do a couple of albums again like last year. But this grew to four full sets and probably 50-60% of a fifth and sixth. Happy to hunt out an additional set for across the pond @SumoLego if you need one.

    @SumoLego..will help if need be...
  • colaycolay Member Posts: 547
I'll be getting a few sets too, I hope. Still have sets and books left over from last year :)
  • darthdcdarthdc Member Posts: 228
Is there a set to accompany the cards, just like last time? I've seen an advert on Facebook, and they've got two new MFs to front it.
  • darthdcdarthdc Member Posts: 228
I see they've reused some of the figures on the cards too - Banana Suit Guy for example. Seeing how many CMFs there are, they could have created another set without using duplicates.
  • ArpieArpie Member Posts: 28
I was in Sainsburys in south London yesterday evening and they were stocking up on all the promo material.  The display stands were up but they had no stock of the new set to go with it so just had standard Creator sets and Banana men.  They didn't know what the new set would be but last years car was pretty good so I'm hoping it's of the same calibre.  Interestingly I was told the book and promotion were launching on Saturday (1st September) so I don't know if the roll out will be different in different regions?
  • Speedman29Speedman29 Member Posts: 2,291
Got my albums today and 5 more packs as the checkout chap was feeling generous! There is no set to go with the cards this year which is a shame. I did see banana and hotdog guy keyring at the tills and bag for life with the card logo on.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
I don't think the set was very popular last year. All the Sainsburys near me had loads left that needed discounting.

Is there an offical matching set ? I didn't see any mention of one when I got my first 16 cards yesterday?
  • bookmumbookmum Member Posts: 1,483
There is no linked to promo set on sainsburys website.

Got the album. Looks really good! Full of fun facts.
I think I'll be trading cards with people at work again - last time all of the parents were apparently much more into completing the set and doing swapsies than the kids!

They'll put them in their bicycle spokes.  Or maybe in the Hoverboard fenders... kids.
  • bookmumbookmum Member Posts: 1,483
I am already planning a swapsies event at my daughters school and the school year hasn't even started yet! Not for the kids - it's for us parents. The kids mean and horrible teachers don't let them bring in cards to swap so their interest runs out quicker than the grown ups! Last time people must have thought the PTA was communicating in secret code
    "I need a 17 and a 53"
    "I have two 97's but need 24"
    "36"
    "104 and 3"
    "47"
    and on and on....

  • Speedman29Speedman29 Member Posts: 2,291
Last year I ended up like some dodgy dealer with dozens of swaps. The office ladies with kids were coming in with lists they needed. By the end I had so many swaps and so few wants that I did 30 cards for 1 in return

@muftak1 I'll do my best to help. What do you need help with? swap, or obtaining cards and a book?
  • Speedman29Speedman29 Member Posts: 2,291
Bit of glut of packs in the first couple of days. We appear to be half way to the first set already!
  • Speedman29Speedman29 Member Posts: 2,291
Discovered my wife bought Little Miss Speedman an album the same time as I did. She's started tucking cards in already. 134 is my favourite so far.

My brother has already started, though I've checked the list at the back. Hotdog Guy and Banana Guy are the only ones from the first set to reapear, while the Easter Bunny Guy is the first not to come from a CMF set (Lily and Sam excluded).

Mrs Speedman has the local FB buy nothing group on the case. An envelope with 15 packs dropped through the letterbox this morning. Under 40 to go on the first set.

So back to school this week. So new uniform needed. Another 11 packs plus the beach party banana guy in the box too. Down to our last 20 odd cards for the first set and third the way to a 2nd.

I just finished collecting a full set of this year's Sainsbury's Create The World Incredible Inventions cards:

I had to open 137 packs before I found the last missing card which is much better than last year in my experience! :-)
I spent about £50 on packs, the rest being free with purchases. A few packs had 5 cards and 1 had a half card but all had at least 4 cards. A small number of cards where damaged even though the pack  was undamaged (all were opened very carefully). The foil cards also suffer from inperfections (like last year) at least 50% of the time!
I used one of the Star Wars card collection binders to store all of the cards (all 551 of them) while collecting which is currently available for £4.99. I also bought the official card display book but you will cause significant damage to your cards if you mount them in the display book. Unless I get some more duplicates, I will hold off from using the official display book!
My faviourate card is number 134 Police Officer! What is your faviourate ?

@SeanTheCollector well done! Currently about 20 cards shy of a full set but with about 30 packs to open. Also about 50 shy of a second set. Putting one set in the album, cards okay if put in carefully. 2nd set will go into plastic card holders similar to yours (as with series 1) and will keep a 2nd mint album. I like the Sam & Lily cards (would have liked new minifigs even without a set) but also card 134, a spare of which will go with my S18 police force!

@SeanTheCollector Are you placing the cards in a penny sleeve first, then the 9-card pocket?

Just thinking the foil may stick to the 9-pocket if it isn't PVC-free.

For what it's worth, I calculate I've opened 64 packs so far to get 259 cards as I had a couple of packs with extras - I have 119/140 towards set 1 and 86/140 towards set 2. Recounted the pile and there's 40 still to open (Monday evening sorted!). Due to having been travelling they've been spread around from Newcastle to Newport Pagnell/MK and various points in between so I was wondering (as you do) if there were any regional variations in card distribution. To date the most multiples I have are 7x#57, 6x#86 and 5x#92&#97 - I also have a spreadsheet but will spare you that!

Wow! Im not even close to my first, and I said I'd help @Muftak1 out too getting a set.
I've bought him a book. If anyone can help me with any doubles or triples they have, will help me getting a set for him.
@whitearmy can you help at all?

Well done @SeanTheCollector. I need about 25 cards and I am done. I have probably spent more money in Sainsburys in the last couple of weeks than I have for months having pretty much defected to Iceland and the over priced corner shop! Staff member at the Big Sainsburys in Sydenham gave me 12 packs when I should of only got one. I told her I loved her. Which is a bit wierd now I look back at that moment.

Took my little boy to buy some new slippers and when we were at the till the lady in front asked if he was collecting the cards, I said yes so she gave them to him when she paid, 23 packs she gave us, hopefully the last two "we" need will be amongst them!

I live in a small village and the closest sainsburys is an hour's drive away, I'm going to get mine from eBay. For the last set, my mother in law picked up some from a charity shop, I still need to finish them too.

^ Check on here (probably in Marketplace) before buying off eBay. I have loads of spares (also from set 1) and once I have the 2 sets I’m after I’ll be happy to offload extras.

Hi @Gibbo1959 If i give you a list of numbers, would be good if you can help me, complete a set for @Muftak1 please? I said id help earlier in the thread, but I am struggling to complete my set, let alone a second one, but I have a few of certain numbers, then never see others at all 5 x 7, 4 x 54, 4 x 58 etc etc, but never seen 33 or 98 once, let alone any doubles!
