Cloth Sail Repair?

Does anyone have any experience/suggestions about repairing a cloth sail torn at the eyelet? It is the triangular sail from 6277 Imperial Trading Post.

A needle and thread was how they'd have done it (albeit on a slightly larger scale!) - and I'd recommend that's how you do it too! Seeing as it's fraying you may want to stitch around the entire eyelet too just to give it a little bit more strength...

^Man, that'll be some tricky needlework (for me!) Maybe I should take it to a professional.

That is a very tricky bit of needlework. Me? I would use the tiniest dab of glue to hold it together and stop the threads freying any further.

Or there's all sorts of iron-on products like metal eyelets or mending pieces you could cut to fit, quick google found these:

Yea I was gonna say fray check. It'll run you like a couple bucks and you can find it at walmart. I put some on one of my sails that has fraying holes, I dunno if it will repair a tear though. It's basically liquid plastic so if you hold the pieces close to each other and allow it to dry it should hold. It'll just be stiff in that area and I can't vouch per its strength.

Thanks guys, I was thinking some sort of clear glue or something, but didn't want to experiment on a 20 year old sail and ruin it.
