So it looks like we are getting Minifigures and mini dolls in the same set, but the Duplo creatures are system built...

More on the homepage for anyone interested.

I actually love the non-Duplo Duplo Monster. Also really like the star and heart, guessing there are new parts involved with them, though the star looks a bit Clickits to me ;-)

Also I was quite disappointed when I realised Unikitty doesn’t have recoloured Mixel joints

I think it was the new elementary article on sustainable parts where they mentioned the mixel joints are made from a different type of plastic than the usual abs blend for strength reasons. Could be why they seemingly refuse to recolor them.

I assume that there’s also an element of making part identifying easier as one side is generally light grey and the other dark grey but that’s always just been an assumption. I’d just really like some in colours other than grey, it makes anything that uses them look a bit robotic!

The 1x2 with centered ball socket has come in both light and dark grey so it's not entirely about color coding.

I've read that the main reason we've only gotten those parts in shades of grey is that they are some of the most precisely molded parts Lego makes—enough so that recoloring them would require the new colors to need to be tested thoroughly to make sure they perform equivalently, due to minor differences in how different colors of part respond to stress and environmental factors. So for the time being, they're still limited to light and dark grey, since those are the ones that have been tested already.

Anyway, love the look of these sets! Great builds, great figs, and great parts throughout. This'll probably be a big theme for me to collect in 2019, especially if the Elves theme does end after this year.

Which modular building should I land the spaceship on?

Last time I was in Target (eariler this year) there was a #70806 still in stock.
If shops don't put sets on clearance, they will tend to hang around once the rest of the line is long gone.

Or maybe that one set alone is evidence that Australia should not get TLM2 sets. :-)

There may be more to this theory!  When I read that comment by @Baby_Yoda I immediately thought - I bet that's Castle Cavalry!  Which I too have seen on ahelves as recently as this year! I'm lot sure if we're anywhere close though - I'm in QLD.
Nice collation of data there @Aanchir - I hadn't realised the release numbers were so similar (based on how hard I feelI've been marketed to).  I think it's safe to say that if the original LEGO movie DIDN'T meet or exceed TLG's expectations for both the movie and subsequent set sales,  TLBM and TLNM wouldn't have seen the light of day...

There's also the matter of the Ninjago movie sets selling like total hotcakes for the most part. I don't see why they'd tone the releases down for TLM2

Benny's Spaceship is by far the best thing to have come from The LEGO Movie!

I just hope they do a “modular” like Ninjago City. That would be a certain buy for me.

I'm still holding out hope that an Emmet's Apartment Building is in the works.

But I'll settle for a Bricksburg TV Station.

(In my defense, I would have wanted an apartment building when I was a kid.  Read into that as you see fit.)

Did she say “unique” or “different”? Or “special”?

New trailer tomorrow! I’d imagine we could see at least one set revealed along with it (possibly the one with the sewer babies) and if not, we’ll most likely get an idea of what some of the other sets will be based off the trailer alone.

I’m hyped for this movie, so hopefully it doesn’t disappoint!

I have not seen the new trailer yet, so what I'm saying here is purely my own speculation.

Are Emmet and Rex Dangervest one and the same? It's not just because they are both voiced by Chris Pratt, but when you look at Rex's clothes, they are similar in design to Emmet's, albeit in very different colours. Are we getting a Jeckyll/Hyde situation?
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,477
I think it's likely to be more fight club than jekyll and Hyde personally but I'm assuming it's the same person.

I like how the R insignia is similar to Blacktron. Great touch.

Possibly, but given the trailers have set up for "everyone's gotten tougher except Emmet" then Emmet is left alone it seems highly likely that Rex Dangervest is a tougher alter ego. Even his name implies that to me.
  • mafonmafon Member Posts: 75
Dangervest has the same hair lick as Emmet.
  • darthdcdarthdc Member Posts: 228
Perhaps Rex is Emmet from another reality?

However, the previous trailer felt more "connected" to the first LEGO Movie. At least, that's how I felt about it. I also preemptively lament how Rex Dangervest's spaceship will undoubtedly be scaled down immensely (and crudely) when it is sold as an actual LEGO set. Maybe there are some more spaceships in the film not seen in the trailer that will be just as interesting.

Holy Moly Classic Space fans! That's great stuff. Would have preferred a larger logo on an alternative slope, but honestly, that trans yellow windscreen is really great news.

WOW really like the space set,  the Unikitty food set, and the Rex dangervest set with raptor, if price is right I may buy those, also want the flying house one which does appear to come with that teal brick separator.

If those prices are right, that's $769.81! And I like all of them. Ouch. Oh well, it's an addiction; can't fight it.

All that for less than the cost of a single UCS Millennium Falcon? What a steal!

These look very cool, but I think they'd be even better if they actually used Duplo parts instead of brick-built substitutions.

(I'm going to buy three or four.)
