You guys get crazier each time. I'll have to remember that trick about a 24 mm drill bit inside a technic hole. The motors looked great.

As to the bearings, I do something similar for train wheels on real lego. MR52ZZ bearings fit perfectly inside a technic hole, and lego metal axes for train wheels go through the bearing and hold tight. Much lower friction than purist solution.

Another amazing build. Where do you go from here though?

My first Technic set was #8841 Dune Buggy, I'd love to see your huge version of one of my favorite sets. Its similar to the go-cart you built first, but with the added complication of a single cylinder engine with moving piston, the tolerances on the square piston might be tricky. The other trouble area with the build I had as an eight year old was the toothed connectors that make up the windscreen frame and rollcage, the teeth would often strip off.

I dont know, I have some ideas for more Technic stuff but I may take a departure for a while.. I’ve never seen that dune buggy kit.. I’m amazed! Looks like it could be fun for a kit big enough for someone to sit on

So awesome. I had a giant grin on my face for the whole video. It still blows my mind that you can 3D print this.

    It’s a no brainer, #8860.  Please.

    Good effort.  :o)

Or something like #42044. Small enough so not too many parts but still interesting. Can printed parts be bent like they need ot for this one?

  • winchymattwinchymatt Member Posts: 18
Well, you could print the bendable parts in semiflex.

@winchymatt you may have said before, but do you have your own 3d printer or just access to a commercial one? What is the actual cost of a project like that, just from a raw materials perspective.

Hi, I have two Taz 6 printers. The raw material cost would be about £550 to £600.

Thanks! I would love to see a video of the printer in action making one of the large bricks and or gears. That would be cool.

Excellent. Thanks! I'll check them out. The whole process of 3D printing is fascinating to me.
