Shouldn't the Forest Police Sets Be More Green?

I really liked that Lego was coming out with the forest polices sets, but I imagined that the vehicles would be green and white like a Forest Ranger or the majority of Sheriff departments? I know there are regional differences, but it kind of bugs me. I wonder if I could replace the blue parts with green, but not sure how I would replace the emblems other than custom decals?

What's your opinion?

When I first heard about Forest Police I thought it's all going to be about brown, green and tan. Seeing blue and white again I completely lost interest in these sets and I'm only getting Robbers' Hideout.
Changing blue to green sounds great but custom stickers seems the only solution to me.

have to agree. robber's hideout is nice, and there's a neat vehicle or two in the lineup, but the overall color scheme, which was full of promise given the setting, was a major major disappointment.

I agree also, the color scheme of the vehicles was a big disappointment. Except for the new elements I was totally turned off by the series.

I've been researching and looks like all the blue parts are also available in green except for the ATC in the Robbers Hideout. That can be put together in white though. Might be pricey hunting down all the pieces. I believe I can scan the stickers and photshop them into green, think I will change the Police logo to Ranger too or maybe Sheriff.

I think they should absolutely have been green or tan/brown. Heck, even grey would have been better than more blue.

I thought it was maybe a regional difference.

Or maybe this is a test of the "forest" theme, but they are trying to keep sales continuity by at least leaving the cop cars the same...

I think they did a good job of making the vehicles trucks/offroad vehicles instead of all cars at least.

@DStonebraker to me, that makes it all the more frustrating that they didn't produce it in green to begin with.

Maybe play testing had kids not identifying ranger-like cars as police. This is a kids toy and kids like blue police cars.

yeah, i suppose. but in that case, why not take time off from police altogether, seeing as they just had a whole round of them in the 2nd half of 2011.

Because kids really, really like blue police cars. When has LEGO ever taken time off from police?

    what @brickmatic said...

Lego is, first and foremost, a kids toy, and kids really, really like blue police cars. Lego has always had police, have they not? They probably always will...

This just gives them something new to sell, that is just how it is.

Okay I grew up in L.A. and police cars are Black and White, and that's the way they are portrayed in the majority of television programs and cartoons. Sheriffs are usually green and white, again there are regional differences. Took me a while getting used to Seattle's all Blue police cars. Just musing at this point I think I get a Forest Police set a swap out all the blue bricks for the green just to share. It'll be my personal Lego project, outside of the kids...

I said essentially the same thing when I first saw the sets. Call them Forest Rangers and have the color scheme be based around green -- preferably the Green Grocer green.

this thread got me thinking about the police cars from my childhood. Went and looked at the town sets, and yes, black and white police cars.

Overall, I like where the colors of the firefighters have gone. They really remind me of smoke jumpers. Also, I do love the color of the heavy-duty helicopter. I like this in the blue. Kind of reminds me of photos of the helicopter the White House had in the 1960s.

I grew up with black and white police cars and personally I think they look the best. I would really love to see some official black and white police car sets, but I just can't see TLG doing that.
