See how many of these northern innovations you recognise in the 3D timeline, which features everything from Stephenson’s Rocket and Jodrell Bank to graphene, virtual reality and the Great North Run.

^About 8 miles from me - handy! Bet I don't remember that it's happening when the event is actually on. Lots to see and do in and around Newcastle (and plenty of it free - Discovery and Hancock museums). 

Always get a laugh from Beamish when they tell you all about the 1910 mining cottage layouts and it looks exactly like my Great Grandad's house in Horden, Circa 1982!
