LEGO Easter Eggs.

This was originally going to be about the Galidor Easter egg. I’m talking about this guy from Ninjago City(which I didn’t get but I wanted this figure):

Look, Galidor would have been a great theme were it just an action figure theme. However, as a LEGO theme, it’s not hard to seen why it’s considered the biggest failure among LEGO fans, and even by Mark Stafford. However, I do find it really cool that this minifigure torso actually had the easter egg. It’s the reason why I ordered one off of Bricklink.

However, I decided to have this topic be about LEGO Easter Eggs in general, be it a reference to another theme, another franchise, a person, etc.

Personally, I thought this was a nice touch on the SC Ferrari 312 T4:

Gilles Villeneuve was a renowned Formua One driver who actually drove a 312 T4. Tragically, he was killed in a crash in 1982, at the age of 32. I feel that whoever designed this set likely chose his 312 T4 as a tribute. They didn’t have to choose his car, but they did. It’s a small but meaningful tribute.

I was watching the Lego Guardians of the Galaxy short they released and Star Lord mentions Galidor as a planet when he is looking at a route to take in space.

#70813 had similar minifigure Easter eggs

The more obscure Easter eggs tend to be things like designers initials and years of birth etc in vehicle registration plates.

If I recall, in the designer video for Town Hall, the designer pointed out that if you swap the 8 and 9 in the year on the front (1891) that was the year she was born (1981).

Yes! I just saw that and I was very proud of myself for noticing that reference

When it comes to Lego Eastereggs, I like this from LotR Mines of Moria set:
    https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=2465pb14&idColor=85#T=C&C=85

The sticker actually reads 'Djordje was here' in dwarven runes (refering the line's graphical designer)

I also like that the hieroglyphs in the lower section of the Adventurer's sarcophagus spell out the word 'Lego' in real egypt hieroglyphs.
(https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=30164px1&name=Container, Coffin Lid with Mummy Relief Colorful Pattern (Sarcophagus)&category=[Container, Decorated]#T=C&C=2)
The 1x2x5 Brick columns from the same theme also use authentic hieroglyphs and spell out the names of ancient egypt gods Anubis, Khnum, Thoth and Horus (although in an incorrect non-egyptian way)

Some of the runes printed on shields and tiles from the Vikings line also spell out 'Lego'.

Mark Stafford confirmed that there are references to Exo Force in Ninjago:

This was actually mentioned by Just2Good in a couple of his list vids, and while Atlantis was released during my dark ages...

...the fact that this has an Aquaraiders helmet has rather dark implications for a LEGO set.

There are loads of references back to past sets. Another one is in the new S18 CMF, one carries a S1 packet.

It’s pretty neat that they do it quite frequently.

Nexo knights has a lot of references to older castle themes in the shield logos. Space Police 3 had a classic space statue the crooks tried to steal.

@dannyrww The Galidor mentioned by Star Lord is not a Lego reference but a reference to ROM the Spaceknight. He was from planet Galador.

^ Both true - but I wonder how it's spelled in the script...

Possible....though that would be an easter Egg of another sort...Marvel does not own ROM anymore (Hasbro always did) though they do own some elements. Wonder which easter egg they were going for: ROM or Lego.

Several of the Ninjago sets from 2015 to 2017 have included stickered tiles representing actual Lego trading cards. Most of these are from the original 2011 and 2012 Ninjago spinner game but Ninjago City adds to that with other Lego cards from themes like Orient Expedition, Rock Raiders, Legends of Chima, and even Fabuland! I've made a bricklist of sets that contain them cataloging the specific cards they reference here: https://brickset.com/sets/list-16680

I was fairly surprised when I played through LEGO Lord of the Rings and realized that when you see the cutscene of Frodo meeting Elrond that an Agent Smith minifigure is visible in the background. Don’t care for The Matrix franchise myself, but it was an interesting nod to Hugo Weaving’s roles.

That's an Easter egg from the movie that is copied in the set.

Any reference to or usage of the Octan brand always keeps me hooked! I remember the two twins from Hyperspeed Pursuit in Space Police III both had Octan leather jackets

The Ninjago City sticker sheet is PACKED with easter eggs!
    • Sticker 1: Okotan letters from LEGO Bionicle generation 2 (they just spell out "Arso" backwards and forwards but that's not a Bionicle reference so might be an inside reference among the designers and their peers).
    • Sticker 4 is a LEGO City reference I think but I can't remember from which sets specifically.
    • Sticker 5 references LEGO Island Xtreme Stunts
    • Sticker 6 is the logo of Rocket Racer from the LEGO Racers video games! It's since appeared again on Race Car Guy.
    • Sticker 17 is the logo of the aliens from Alien Conquest.
    • Sticker 21 is a slightly altered version of the Bara Magna symbol from LEGO Bionicle generation 1.
    • Sticker 24 is the logo and name of Borg Industries from the LEGO Ninjago TV show.
    • Sticker 26 is of course the M:Tron logo.
    • Sticker 37 is a poster for "Return of the Brick Separator", a sequel to the monster movie "The Brick Separator" which was first referenced on the sticker sheet for Palace Cinema.
    • Sticker 41 is the Galidor poster, naturally!
    • Sticker 43 is the "Believe" poster from The LEGO Movie!
    • Sticker 45 is the poster for Bruce Lee's "Enter the Dragon".
    • Sticker 40 is the poster for the video game "LEGO Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin"
    • Sticker 48 is the Galaxy Squad logo with the initials "GS" for Galaxy Squad.
    • Sticker 49 has the logo of the Brick Bank.
    • Stickers 53 and 55 feature an Ussal crab pictogram from the Mata Nui Online Game and one of three Makuta pictograms from a 2001 Bionicle promotional CD-ROM.

Also, I believe that one of the Ninjago guys (whose name I do not know) the Ninjago language on the front of his Tshirt is Ninjago for AC/DC, which is cool and I think relevant to here :)

^^OMG they made the Cat Poster into a sticker???  Would anyone please help me identify the brick that the sticker is intended for, in the Ninjago City set?  I'd like to buy the sticker sheet and brick on Bricklink soon.  Thanks!

It goes on a 2x3 tile, I think in lbg. One of my favorite surprises when building it for sure

^Thanks, fellow Massachusetts-ian!  Being a little lazy right now - would you happen to have the actual "piece number"?  Want to be able to look it up on Bricklink.  Sadly, I also don't know what "lbg" is...light beige?  Many thanks!

I translated the runes on that piece from Moria, but all I got was gibberish. That was a couple years ago though. Maybe I need to try again.
