I've got the honour to organise another monthly building contest. I love the creator 3 in 1 sets, where you can make different builds with the same bricks, I love MOC'ing, but I also love building from instructions and getting a bang for my buck. There's sites like Rebrickable and apps like BriXtar.
For this contest I'd like to continue in the vein of the recent Brickset/BriXtar one. But this time, I want you to use bricks from a GWP, the gift with purchase. Obviously I'm not aware of any GWP that any shop might have offered at any point, but a good place to start is these 80 sets.
If there are others, feel free to use these too. If there is a polybag in the list that you didn't get as a GWP but used your hard earned cash for, you are still allowed to use it, since it was a GWP for someone else at least.
I'm assuming each of you has at least one GWP, but I know certain people don't like opening theirs, so a digital model is allowed or you are allowed to use your own bricks and make minor colour subsitutions if you don't have a certain brick. However, don't substitute loads because I want to recognise the colours of the original build.
There are poly's with only a couple of pieces, or there are 24 in one builds for Christmas, so I'm sure there must be lots of possibilties there.
Don't be shy in sharing, even if it's your first MOC,
this contest is here for fun and to get those creative juices
flowing. Also, if your kids want to take part and make one for
themselves, feel free to post those too, always great to see what they come up with.
- your model must be built for the contest, not an existing MOC
- only use the pieces from one GWP, extra's are allowed to be incorporated as well
- mention on which GWP it is build
- two photographs per entry only - it helps the thread load better/at all! However feel free to upload any extra images to Flickr etc. that aren't for your entry.
- you can enter as many different models as you like so long as you make a separate post for each
- contest runs till March 31st. I'll announce the winner by October 4th.
A GWP :), I'll try to get you something you don't have, but can't make any promises (don't know how elaborate people's collections are.
Any questions? Anything dubious? PM or leave a message below.
I look very much forward to see what you all come up with.

My son thought it was a cool challenge too, so he's built something as well. Told him he can't win since it would be biased but he asked me to post it anyway.
He used pieces from #40251 Mini piggy bank and made a sort of cartoony rabbit :)
#30449 Mini Milano Mech
It was tricky not to just make it into another spaceship - and I managed to use almost all the parts - only had he Technic pins left over.
The first one is based off of #20013 and used about 80% of the total parts.
This one is built from Batman in the Phantom Zone. It’s a mini(not really) drone along with a controller

Didn't turn out as well as I'd would have liked, but I present to you the Origami Millennium Falcon
This is made from a #5004043 Millennium Falcon poster. Yeah, it's a free gift (I think it was Force Friday 2017?), it's on the list ;) This is made only using parts from the set, except I decided not to mutilate my actual poster for the good of the collectors here who would likely have a heart attack if I ruined such a perfectly good specimen, so it's made from a printed image scan, which is why all those ugly white creases are visible.
Had I used the actual poster it would have looked like the gray one pictured here, just all rainbowy ;)
It is time for judgement…
Great to see the different entries and how everyone has got their own twist on things.
@fowlerbricks I like the idea of the Rolls Royce model, I’m not familiar with that particular kind but looked good. I think your fire truck was even better though. The micro batcopter and landing pad are well done too, especially like the landing pad as extra. Your swooshable nexo-knight entry looks like something the knights would enjoy using in Knightonia, fits with their style.
@lego_minon I really like the dragonfly, it’s a very colourful model and I’m really impressed with yow you only used a pretty small model to come up with something totally different. It’s nice to see the cartoon flower accompanying it as well.
@theoriginalsimonB I’ve got a soft spot for that light blue colour and love both of your colourful models. Especially like robohead, he oozes personality.
@shib, with only a small amount of pieces and something as specialised as a spaceship, it is as you said very difficult to make it into something different. Like the mech you managed to come up with though and great you managed to reuse all the pieces.
@Bumblepants the freighter airship would look nice in any space saga!@thelegomaster35 the first entry is a pretty sleep spaceship, but I like your second one better and like how you managed to get a play feature in there. You were going from strength to strength with that cherry picker, immediately recognisable and a lot of detail for such a small model. You then also used the London bus and it was cool to see how you made it into a single level bus but with a bus stop as well! The batman drone reminds me a bit of a Milano in some ways, I’m sure it would come in handy for surveillance for the black knight. With your bomber you managed to incorporate another play feature. The garbage truck seemed a bit similar to the original model although the rear was definilty improved.
@mssanders I like how you redone the VIP set, I think it would look good in any mall, maybe kids could try and hit the belly with coconuts or something
Here it is:
@brickbybrick I applaud your creativity. That was really original and you made me smile. Very impressed with your origami skills and how you actually managed to make it look like a MF! I did say you could use any GWP, so it was definilty within the rules and no contest was broken. Thanks for showing a grey picture too, it showed clearer what it looked like.
Now for the winner, I think I’m going to select @lego_minon, that model is just very eye-catching. I’ll be checking out what you own and send you a PM to get your details.
Thanks all for taking part, look forward to see what you come up with for ApriThank you so much for hosting, these competitions are an excellent way to get you thinking outside the box and using Lego in different ways. :)
I'll PM you again @Lego__Minon
Thank you so much @snowhitie they're super spooky and I love them very much :)
enjoy and keep up the building!
