Modulex.... the dream ended 3 years ago... and it still hurts....

Jan.5, 2015....

It was just over 3 years ago, but doesn't seem like such a long time ago... but the sudden end of the rebirth of Modulex still leaves bad feelings.

This was the announcement that Huw put out on the Brickset front page on that fateful January day that Modulex hopefuls can call "black Monday"....

https://brickset.com/article/13806/the-end-of-the-line-for-modulex

What a pity... all those Modulex molds that were recreated... just moldering somewhere, likely to never see the light of day again...

Anyway, I was just reading an article about Anders Kirk Johansen, great-grandson to Ole Kirk Christiansen, and the nephew to LEGO owner Kjeld.  Looks like he's more popular in Denmark than other members of the family... hmmm.

Here's an article in Danish (use your Google translate for this one)... just one heads up... Rohden Gods is the name of the vast waterfront estate which he purchased years before, and all money amounts are in Danish Krøne...

P.S.  what I miss most about not having a new system for Modulex... they had a large and useful window assortment... no using the back of headlight bricks as windows in Modulex.  A pity.....

Yeah, it was a shame they got canned (again). I've bought a few smaller lots on ebay but they are just so expensive these days.

Thanks for the link to the article.  It’s unfortunate that the relaunch wasn’t able to happen.  While it’s not compatible with ‘normal’ LEGO (and I’m not sure how or why the dimensional differences might’ve been chosen), you’d still hope that there’s room in the market for a different sort of system and perhaps different styles of sets.

Is there a definitive list of all the different Modulex parts somewhere? Cos I'm sure I've got some parts that I haven't seen on Bricklink at all.

^^ There is amarket for smaller bricks, although that is being taken by nanoblocks at the moment. It would be nice if they did parts packs for architecture too.
