The brick suit ones are really interesting to me, I assumed it would be an accessory piece but it looks more like a new torso - also looking from the side it looks like the back is thick enough to have “anti-studs” on the back so in theory that piece could be used in some really interesting ways for builds - honestly I’m thinking of picking up a few extras of those two for future MOC potential.

Also loving the dragon and cactus - the cactus is almost certainly going to inspire some Final Fantasy Cactuar builds!

Might be the first time I get two complete sets. Can't wait to see what they look like without the covering.

Sorry for the double post, but I thought this would be better here than in the leaks thread. Anyone else going to use the cat suit girl to make a Black Cat from Spider-Man? Now we know where the classic Minifigure Heads from the diner went.

My thinking too. I get the feeling these will be rather popular. I think multiple sets is a must!

I love almost all of these! Dragon suit, cactus suit, elephant suit, cake suit and balloon artist are my favourites I think.

Wow...that's a lot of "guy" and "girl" in the minifigure names.  TLG going PC.....I forgot, they have already.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
I imagine they will sell well, but I'm not sure I'll get many this time. I'm not a collector of CMF, I use them in MOCs, and I'm not sure they'd fit for me. Too many suits this time. OK if you are doing a fancy dress party MOC. It definitely looks like a series that kids will like though.

The dragon is the best one for me. With a red minifig head, he is almost Baby Smaug. I find the policeman a bit of a dud. I know it is meant to be classic and celebrating 60 years, but it just shows how far minifigs have come.

I'm not a fan of the changing colour of the baseplates either. I wonder if this is a one off (they also printed the second Batman series) and they will return to black.

Well, I definitely want the whole lot, and multiples of most.  Absolutely love them.

The policeman is the only one that doesn't fit in the theme of this series. It would of been a better fit if LEGO took 16 classic Minifigures, and printed a tile with the first set they appeared in.(Maybe if they do anything to celebrate an anniversary of the Minifigure)

The two kids with the balloons could be used in a wedding/church setting.

All other Minifigures could be used as trick or treaters for a city Halloween MOC.

I am wondering if the man in a cake is wear the cake like a dress, is standing in the cake and the cake has a large hole for the legs or if the man has no legs?

All the guy and girl stuff - I don't think these are official names anyway, are they?

    For example, there is
    Orange Balloon Fan Boy
    but
    Purple Balloon Balloon Fan Girl

suggesting that the orange balloon is held by a fan boy (presumably a lego fan) whereas the purple baloonis held by a girl that is a fan of balloons.

So I imagine you shouldn't read too much into the names as presented here.

For the flowerpot girl, you can see the legs coming out underneath so the pot is held clear of the studs of the surface.

For the cake, I'm not so sure. I'd hope there were legs inside, but it wouldn't surprise me if it is just a single molded piece like the Queen's dress from a few series back.

Also, I'm not a fan of the balloons. We already have reasonable balloons that are buildable from a bar and two "cylinder" pieces (or more if you want a big sausage balloon). These ones appear to be a single piece balloon and stick / string. It seems a shame to produce specific single use parts like this, going down the dolls house route rather than the lego route.

^ I couldn't agree more and don't forget Angry Birds gave us a new bottom for the two part balloon.

    Some speculation here ...

Given that there are 17, I wonder what the distribution will be like. It'll be interesting if one is rarer (maybe one per box). And if one is rare, it makes sense that it is the odd one out, the policeman. The classic figure that is there all by himself in a series that he doesn't seem to belong. So people could end up paying $20-30 or something crazy for a figure that would probably be $1 on BL.

On the balloon - it does look like the main balloon is in two pieces (if you look at the top there’s a space like a small gap to seperate the pieces if you need similar to the Elves dragon eggs) with the string potentially being a new angled bar. If that’s the case then the new angled bar piece is at least of some interest.

Yes, it is not obvious to me whether it is two parts that click vertically, with the end of the "string" inside to hold it, or whether they are just the design for molding it.

It just seems silly to go from the old style balloon in the balloon cart in 2014

through the new balloon bottom part that came in 2016 sets

that can be used for other things (and has already officically been used as not-a-balloon a number of times) to something that will only ever look like a balloon and possibly not have any usful connection points (I guess it depends what is inside, if it is a two piece balloon).

Ah, I see Rocket Racer references are like buses now: you wait 16 years for one, and you get two within the space of a year!  :P

As for the rest of the series, I was kinda expecting it to be a very skippable series from the leaked list but now we've seen it in the plastic... god damn, now that's what I call a minifig series lads! So many cool new molds, recolours and prints!

Ah, my guess is that the '17th' figure is the Classic Police Officer.  I still cringe at the prospect of case distribution.

Oh no! As a fan of novelty stuff, it would take a lot to stop me collecting these. I have enough in my 2018 wants list already.

Taking a closer look at the balloon, it looks like it has a gap at the top like the transparent globe pieces used for street lights sometimes. Perhaps it's two pieces that split vertically?

I think the cactus piece might inspire a few people to make a MOC Pickle Rick from Rick and Morty too.

The Man-Spider/Not Spider-Man looks to be delighted at whatever costumed event they're all at.

I'm hoping for Mr Gold style. I want to see people paying $500-1000 for him. :-)

My biggest disappointment is the recolored bases are orange. So many other colors I would rather have seen that part molded in for moc purposes. O well.

Best series yet. Even the police officer is great. He's a classic

I know there was a bit of speculation about the price for these, now they've been revealed do you think they'll still be the same price as previous series? There seems to be a lot of new and unusual pieces compared to previous years, and Lego know they're going to be popular, so I have a feeling the price may increase.

I'm still pretty new to all this, but it seems like we get a fair amount of costume/suit minifigures and this is just a big suit series. They look good, but I don't know that I want a whole series of this theme.

It is supposedly a celebration series, I guess they are celebrating by being dressed up, with the somewhat out of place policeman in there to reach back to the old days of minifigs.

Future non-licensed sets will hopefully go back to what they used to be, but that'll be another year yet.

Thanks. I guess it makes sense. I like that policeman a lot. Was hoping to see more of that kind of thing for the  big anniversary.

Well I’m firmly with the “loving them all” crowd for this series. Usually just get one set for the main collection plus any extras of those I like but thinking about getting a full box this time. Any advice from UK members on best way to do that. Do the brand stores sell sealed boxes or do I need to try other toy shops, Argos, supermarkets?

I think someone on here said they did at one point, but not at a discount or anything, still have to pay full price for each pouch.

I am really excited about the entire series.  It's been a long time since I've felt that about the CMF line.  Quite a nice surprise.

I would also like to know what is the best way to go about getting a full box.

This series looks fantastic. Definitely want 2 sets, plus maybe some extra multiples (though 1 policeman will do I think), and kids will want some... so a whole box is starting to look likely.

Wait, what the heck does this mean? Is… is acknowledging a minifig’s gender “PC” now? That’s the loopiest nonsense  I’ve read here in a while. Do you get this worked up over character names like Batman and Batgirl?

Though I will say, people who use terms like “PC” unironically seem to be particularly prone to making a big fuss over stuff this insignificant…

Anywho, this series is a lot of fun! Love the throwback police officer, cat suit, and the new mousie!

It's nice that we are given CMFs that mostly fit a theme (except the Classic Police Officer), but it's the theme that I personally don't feel too attracted to. I mean, I do like the CMFs, but I don't think they'll fit 'organically' into a town.

I would say the Brick MFs are good to be outside a LEGO store, the Classic Police Officer would make a great traffic cop, and the rest...a child's party or Halloween. I am also saying this as someone who doesn't display CMFs but tries to incorporate them into my town.

Either way...Yeah, waiting for @MinifiguresPlus for pre-ordering complete series (or maybe two? I love elephants...).

I like these too. Didn't want to like them because I am really hoping to buy less CMF, trying to resist most TLBM2, still think they are pretty expensive at €4 a pop.

But very very cute, think I want all except the clown and the police man :)

I only just realised that the little square printed tiles that the balloon boy is holding actually represent the LEGO Minifigures packets from Series 1, that’s very meta. :)

One big issue for me ...17 figures in a 60 count box....... ugh. Wonder which one gets 'shorted' in this set and will they restrict some rares to 2 a box, or will they do a decent thing and have a couple less 'common' ones (ie 5 per box)?

I am looking at it again and I am wondering if there is a chance that the balloon could be made up of three pieces, two balloon parts and the string? On both balloon pieces, there is an odd line indentation on the top and if you continue that line, it goes down the side of the balloon. It could be a mold line but I wonder if there is a chance the balloon attaches much like the part #4518410. Perhaps the indentation is made so a fingernail can separate the two balloon parts with more ease. I just think it would make this a more interesting (not sure if more versatile) piece. It also confuses me that the string does not look like it is the generic bar width unless I am looking at it wrong.
