Displaying X-wing 10240?

I recently finished building 10240, and it only wants to rest on the stand at the angle where the nose is pointing upwards, is that how it's supposed to be? It seems like it was intended to be able to be displayed both totally horizontally, as well as at the upward angle, but it doesn't stay in the horizontal position, it 'falls' back to the other one. Is that normal?

It should balance horizontally both with the nose over the plaque and at 90 degrees:

EDIT: I just tried it with mine (I always display it nose-up) and can confirm it does indeed balance horizontally in both orientations (it doesn't take much to tip it back though). Are you sure you made your stand mechanism correctly?

Interestingly this FBTB review agrees with you.

Mine will display flat, but the slightest bump or butterfly passing and it will fall back to nose up!

^ yeah, mine is just like this.  I think I can just leave it out for a few days and it rocks itself back to the sloping position!

I'd say it's supposed to be displayed either nose up or horizontally at 90 degrees.

I have mine displayed in a wooden box shelf so I rest the back off it against the back of the box to ensure it stays horizontal... Can't imagine it would take much to do the stand in this position though

Just checked. Mine always tips back. It is also in need of a clean!

I've had no issues with the display angle or weight distribution of the model, but I did initially find myself with a warped plate.  I swapped it out it and it was fine thereafter.
