What's the 'Star Wars rhythm'?

I'm a big fan of the new Star Wars movies. Especially The Force Awakens. The movie was released in 2015. We got The Force Awakens LEGO sets in 2015, 2016 and 2017. I bought them all. I am wondering what the rhythm of Star Wars sets is? Will we still have new sets coming in 2018? Or do they skip 2 years and than release remakes?

Wrong rhythm?

Anyway, I would expect a similar release schedule for TLJ SW sets, and then re-issues or single sets to get shuffled into the E1-E6 sets that cycle through. 

I would be surprised if any reissues from the SW Story Films (R1, Solo, etc.).

From year to year there is always one or two odd re-releases from the prequel trilogy or other SW property.  There always seems to be a Qui-Gonn and Darth Maul set with battle droids available.

The standard OT iconic stuff seems to get rereleased every few years; things like X-wings, TIE fighters, Millennium Falcon, A-wings, etc.

I'm pretty sure you're going to be right about this one, but I would really love a regular version of the actual Rogue One.  A UCS version would be even neater, but that would be too much to ask for, I know.

Every year I see on Brickset all the new Star Wars sets coming up, and I swear I will break the rhythm this time and stick to buying only UCS sets and the one-off big, nice looking set (e.g. #75188 Resistance Bomber)…. but then…

What use is rhythm if you got no soul?! 'Tis better to ask, what is the soul of Star Wars LEGO? And to that I say, it's the money set recycling FANS! It's always the fans that make this theme what it is today.

Yeah, they keep things going-of course for nigh on a decade they've had a constant stream of new material to work with and it shows no signs of stopping. The real question is whether they'll come out with stuff you want like the Rogue One, or various vehicles and characters from Rebels.

...so back to the original question. What would the pattern of SW releases be like? We expect a UCS in May and October. There tend to be several waves of releases at reasonably predictable intervals (when, roughly?). We expect discounts/special gifts at certain times.

We don't appear to be anticipating a brick singing the cantina rag any time soon.

You can look at past behaviour and try to predict future sets, but nothing is certain.

It was answered already amid the silliness in the first couple posts. Winter and summer waves along with film tie-ins as new movies appear. Sometimes it gets staggered a month between N.A. and Europe release. Same as pretty much any other line of Lego.

I believe the rule is (and this applies to everything LEGO, not just Star Wars): Whenever you think you've figured out what you want and how to budget for it... something else you just have to have comes along!
