New Ultrabuild/Buildable Figures Ideas

So ever since the cancellation of Bionicle, I know many a fan-myself included-has been wondering what's next for Lego's Buildable Figures wing. Curiously, Lego doesn't seem to have recommitted the resources to expanding on the Star Wars line, and has given no indication-that I'm aware of-that another series like Bionicle or Hero Factory is in the works. Question is, were another Contraction line to come about, what would you like to see?

Personally, I think there's quite a bit of potential in the various licenses Lego currently holds or has previously held. Apart from expanding on the short-lived Superheroes line (a mere six figures, three each from DC and Marvel), there's definitely a few other possibilities. One that sticks out to me is The Hobbit  which-if we were to take cues from previous lines-I could see playing out something like this:

Wave 1-Medium and Large Sets

• Gandalf the Grey
• Radagast the Brown
• Legolas

• Bofur
• Bombur

Wave 2-Medium and Large Sets

• Dain vs. Orc

Something like that-probably need to find a way to bring in more villains.

After building 4597 Captain America, and seeing what others have showed me the new Star Wars figures are like, I’d certainly like a redo of the super heroes.  But with the new techniques used for Star Wars, they really could expand out into so many different characters.  Some may not look right though without the introduction of new parts to clip onto the skeleton, so it might be too expensive.  But then they make all kinds of custom stuff for CMF’s & that doesn’t appear to be going away any time soon.  But I can see this all taking a backseat to Brickheadz.

Oh the Superheroes-so much potential for Constraction there, and only growing yearly. I think they could certainly get some new parts in if they were willing to devote the resources-it's just a question of why they haven't. Ugh, Brickheadz-Lego's answer to Funko.

** They can only be a LEGO answer to Funko (though there was a designer article awhile back, maybe on Brickset, where they said it wasn’t intended as such).  But it must work as they’re going all in with the theme it appears.  Our local community mall just managed to open a comic book shop which appears to survive off sales of Funko (they claim to sell LEGO but I haven’t seen more than a handful of sets there, none of which I wanted to buy).  If the amount of those things I see everywhere is any indication, there’s a sizable market for it.  After trying 45189 to go with 4597, I can certainly see the charm of Brickheadz.  There could well be some brand identity at play too.  My wife immediately identified the Brickheadz Cap’n as LEGO when I put them out on a little table side by side, but looked at the buildable figure Cap’n & asked where I got it since it couldn’t be LEGO, or is it?

I can understand how it appeals to people. I personally just prefer the system and CCBS side of Lego, and the idea that Lego might be putting money into Brickheadz as opposed to those kind of grinds my gears.
