Florean Fortescue has leaked! I didn't even know he was in the film! Diagon Alley is real, and it will be huuuge!

^ year 1 Harry as well! I just hope Weasleys’ Wizarding Weezes will be included.

Year 1 Harry and Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes in the same set? That's not right.
  • J0rgenJ0rgen Member Posts: 577
It could be a Death Star film spanning set, but right now it kind of points to a Year 1/2 only set.
  • 8BrickMario8BrickMario Member Posts: 29
I wonder what shops will be there. Fortescue implies that the ice cream parlor, which was really only given attention in the third book, will be present. Odd choice. Harry's outfit reflects the first film but his dirty face reminds me of his Floo Powder mishap in the second, so will this set be more general, or just part of one film? If it's not just the first film, Flourish and Blotts would be a chance to give us a new Lockhart and Lucius at the book signing. Those two characters seem glaringly absent thus far; Lucius because he hasn't been in this iteration of the theme, and Lockhart because he was skipped over in the second iteration and never had a fleshie fig.

If they play their cards right, I could very well see them making a Diagon Alley collection like they're doing with Hogwarts Castle. Whatever's not in this set might be fair game for other sets, so depending on what's not in this one, the rest could be released in the future.

Random question: it's kind of irking me that several minifigs weren't given wands. Sirius, Minister Fudge, Credence, Stan, Ernie, McNair, Marcus, Lucian, and Oliver are all currently wandless. Does anyone have suggestions as to appropriately coloured wands for these guys?

You can look online for their wands. For example, Sirius and Oliver should have black or dark brown wands. Not sure if all characters have wands, but if they don’t have wands designs, you can just use the wands you have spare. (Although I wouldn’t use seraphina picquerys wand for macnair)

Apart from Fudge and Sirius none of those characters ever wield a wand on screen (and neither Fudge or Sirius have a wand in PoA), so you probably just have to use your imagination :)

Also, Credence doesn't get a wand until the second FB film, and that version of him has yet to be made in LEGO.

Is it possible that the Florean Fortescue and floo powder Harry figs are just from the series 2 CMF line?

Harry might be, but Fortescue almost seems so obscure he could only be in a set. He's not recognizable enough for the casual buyer to be interested in him as a blind-bagged figure. For fun, I wrote an extensive list of guesses for the remaining spots in the series which included just about every notable character they haven't made yet, and Fortescue would have never made it on my list, primarily because I wasn't even aware he was in the films.

Both he and Harry looks like the real deal to me!

There is a lot of different ways they could do a DA set in several scales. It could be 3-4  big buildings modular style, one half of the street like the GWP with 5-6 smaller buildings, a hole street that is possible to divide in two to keep on the shelf with facades and open backs on 8-10 buildings etc ..

The same goes for minifigs, we do not know if it is 5, 10, 15 or 20 included, but I am sure several of those options could have room for a Florean fig :)

With the "ask a LEGO HP designer a question to celebrate the launch of a very magical product coming soon" they have started I think we will see the set soon, maybe this week even :D
  • Casper_vd_KorfCasper_vd_Korf Member Posts: 243
^ I think/ hope your prediction of 8-10 is the most likely. Also the open backs would make the most sense because the backs of the building don’t really exist in canon, with exception of the leaky cauldron. About the size, I think it will be like the micro modular from creator without the hinge functions. Also, Gringotts and the leaky cauldron would probably be bigger. The only question to me is if the street itself wil be included, because that will eat a lot of parts from the budget.
  • Mr_CrossMr_Cross Member Posts: 1,672
If rumours are right, circa £400 with between 4000 to 5000 parts. Well, then, I'm honestly expecting quite a lot!
For me, it will need to be a minimum of six buildings including the Leaky Cauldron, 15 characters aside from Harry, Ron and Hermione (all of whom need to be in new outfits). If it has Florean, and he's a pretty obscure one to include, then I don't think it is unreasonable to expect a few more obvious ones too... Lockhart, Griphook, Mr. Borgin, Mr. Ollivander and Tom from the Leaky Cauldron as well as a few characters that don't really feature in the fims, the Witch in The Magical Menagerie, A Wizard from Flourish and Blotts, perhaps a Madam Malkin?
Please excuse the rambling, ill thought through wishlist.
TBH, I'd prefer a standalone Leaky Cauldron, but I think this might be the best chance of getting one.

I agree and this is my guess:
    https://ibb.co/G0HWYP9
It is a narrow street so do not need to include a lot of it to make it realistick..

Me to and I think we will get it with the quality of the sets in this theme (the parts count is just a guess so far based on the price) :)

  • klintonklinton Member Posts: 1,248
It won't be 'modular' style. I think people wildly overestimate what might be included at that price point. It'll be a selection of regular, open backed buildings. Maybe five or so at the most, with a smattering of minifigs and side builds.

If the set is as big as all that and does include Lockhart, then I'd expect more sets with him in the future, or a CMF variant because I doubt they'd make such an important character a D2C exclusive.
  • FauchFauch Member Posts: 2,662
would be a bit disappointing if it was separate buildings like the previous Diagon Alley rather than something like assembly square.

If you are going by the movie versions, you might try looking at the film replica wands at Universal...

Well, 4000 pieces is twice as many as the previous large Diagon alley. So possibly an additional 2 larger buildings in the set?

I love all of it, except the minifigs. The twins are def a welcome addition, but duplicates of Harry, Hermione, and Ron are kind of annoying. Not even new outfits, just reissues. Cho is okay, I suppose. I still think the first one they did of her is the best though. Each new one I get ends up ziplocked away.
The builds though! I freaking adore them all. The micro ship and carriage are fantastic, and will look sharp with the train from last year. The gramophone is exceptionally lovely. I love it all! :)
  • karritkarrit Member Posts: 900
I really like most of it.  Will probably need to get a second one to get extra heads for the twins to make them in their regular school uniforms unless they put them in the CMF series.  I wish they had put in another food table but one can always put together some of those out of extra parts.  I'll also need to build some extra sofas in the other house colors.  I'm quite disappointed in the City calendar though, will be waiting for a clearance price on that one.

I was assuming you were talking about the Weasley twins :(

Not a fan of skirts printed on 1x2 bricks. Love the new skirt piece so would much prefer those were used. I guess those are too tall if being used for young Howard's kids.

Who's Howard? And why did he have children at such a young age?

Yes, they need a new mid length dress piece. Still, I prefer what they have done compared to cloth skirts.

Literally the only new HP item from the summer wave to hit local shoppes is the polybag. I was disproportionately excited to see it this morning, hahaha.

Just built Privet Drive. Nice little set but has anyone added/ enhanced the set to make it more substantial (eg. Taller, additional rooms, close off the back etc.) Got it sitting next to my modulars at the mo. and it looks tiny.

I do partially agree, they really should have not built another Ford and just use those pieces for the house. Open at the back is I'm afraid just a given with most of the playsets, so putting it next to a modular might be a bit unfair :)

I guess the Ford gives extra playing fun with pulling of the windows and I like how they did the cupboard underneath the stairs & the letters, even though those 2 things wouldn't be in the same movie.

Hope you US peeps don't have to wait too long anymore!

And no, they've so far only been on a sticker in the last Privet Drive set and on a sticker in the mirror of Erised.
