Really want the Diagon Alley but only just spent all my money on the Hogwarts castle!  Doh!
  • BrainsluggedBrainslugged Member Posts: 2,201
I'm also planning on picking up the fire station in the morning even though it's my least favourite WV set. I do want that HP set though.
  • Baby_YodaBaby_Yoda Member Posts: 1,295
^^ Yeah, but the Diagon Alley is for free, so technically you're saving money if you buy it... at least, that's what we all tell ourselves...

You would have thought that LEGO would have sold this set rather than it being a free GWP as it’ll be so popular...
But then again I spent £85 I wasn’t otherwise going to spend.

Hook, line and sinker come to mind,

The first GWP I'm ignoring this year - looks absolutely naff imo, though I'm the only one in the family not sucked into the HP universe. My wife would probably love it.

Those buying it for the black sausage - it's available in other sets too. First came in an Atlantis set if memory serves. Or maybe a Scala set?

I love HP and I think the set looks pretty "meh." I will be saving up to get the holiday GWP later on.

That’s cool! I’m excited to see your updates on the tribunes!

Thebrickfan.com has more info on the Potter professor set (formerly known as the bricktober set) Nov 17, you get one if you spend 75 USD or more on LEGO, while supplies last (not sure if it will also appear online like the Mine worker)

Definitely Buckbeak in this picture, as the trio are wearing their Prisoner of Azkaban outfits :-)

Currently building my newly acquired Great Hall set, and discovered that one of the sticker options for the Mirror of Erised is Dumbledore holding a pair of thick woolen socks.

Now I know that in the book (and the movie), that was what Dumbledore told Harry; but even Harry knew then Dumbledore had lied to him. This was later confirmed by JK Rowling who said that Dumbledore saw his family together, alive and well, in the mirror.

(With the upcoming FB movie, we also know that at one point of his life, Dumbledore saw only Grindelwald in the mirror, his teenage love interest whom he later defeated and imprisoned.)

Anyway, I wish there had been a 'Dumbledore's Family' sticker, or even a 'Grindelwald' sticker for the mirror, because it would have been so much more accurate to the story.

^I'm only half way through the books with my daughter at the moment, so not hugely invested in the HP universe. However, Dumbledore with his socks strikes me as much more interesting (and funny) easter egg than any other image Lego could put as his reflection - even if it isn't 100% faithful to whatever JKR has said since.

I think they sold out early. It's not been added online for a couple of days. Maybe a local store still has one?

Might already be there and I've missed it, but you could have a black dog hidden around the stands for those that follow the book continuity instead of the film continuity ;-)
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,460
I seem to remember that the Padfoot dogs in the older Harry Potter sets were grey for some reason too, which is irritating.

Maybe another beast set, but like the first one, it's not very set friendly. Another round of CMFs down the line seems most appropriate.

Yeah, that's what I thought too. Presumably a set based on the climax, or the ministry, or the safe house? Can't really think of any other set-worthy locations. I would like a young Dumbledore CMF and Brickheadz though.

I’m amazed that lego overlooked the animals in the current sets. Where is Hermiones cat Crookshanks? Where’s Mrs Norris? Fang? And Sirius as the grim?
But most of all a clear stag to represent Prongs (Harry’s patronus) is the figure I would like in a set.

@Jezzatheshed crookshanks is uncluded in the Hermione Collectible Minifigure.

^ Well, a cat is included with the MF, but it doesn't look like the way I imagine Crookshanks. But then the MFs don't look like how I imagine the characters.

But a clear stag for Harry's patronus is a genius idea.

Crookshanks would really benefit from a special mould, as he's supposed to be fluffy and have a flat face

I agree, he's not perfectly like I assume him either, but at least there is one.  I forgot to add, I also love the clear stag idea!
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,460
As much as I’d love some patronus parts, the films don’t show the patronus animals anywhere near as much as they feature in the books, more often opting for a flash of light instead. Given most of the content LEGO use is from the films not the books it cuts down the chances to me.

also I’d prefer them to be trans clear marbled with pearl silver :-D

I went to see the film last night and like the precious film these creatures get the best reaction from the audience. :D

Once they’ve revealed 2019 sets for Harry Potter it might be a nice thing for Brickset to do a “what’s missing...” series for all the books/movies like they did with Star Wars! Who’s with me?
    Yes please!
