    Ooh, I’ll play!

According to my sources, we’ll be seeing a new Diagon Alley soon. Just remember that I called it and you heard it here first.

I heard there will be a new diagon alley coming soon. It will contain plastic pieces which will be separated in numbered bags and will be packaged with a printed instruction book inside a cardboard box.

If someone reports on a Knockturn Alley, or more unlikely a Horizont Alley or a Carkitt Market, and they are true then credit to them.

We now have a limited quantity on hand for those who did not get to pre-order and are still wanting to buy (or for those who just want another box or set).

Unfortunately these did cost us, but here are the prices:

    Box = $229
    Set of 22 = $114

I'm expecting several sets from "Goblet of Fire" - Harry vs. Hungarian Horntail complete with Golden Egg; Harry takes a Bath, with Harry, Egg and Moaning Myrtle; Harry at the Bottom of the Lake, with Harry in a bathing costume, Krum with a bubble head or Sharks head, Fleur attacked by Grindelows, and wet, tied up versions of Ron, Hermione and Gabrielle; Battle in the Graveyard, with Harry, Cedric, Triwizard Cup, Voldemort, Nagini, Wormtail, cauldron and the Riddle Grave. Plus a second set of CMF featuring all the known Death Eaters.

I wonder if they’ll delve into the more expanded canon? How much of a crossover is there between hardcore HP fans and FOLs?

^ Yep very simple system, common sense some might say. Rule one - did the rumour come for a reliable source?

There have been rumours of a Diagonal Alley set. Someone said 200-400 bucks but this came with a leak of other sets. We dont tend to get info on D2Cs at the same time as normal sets, we dont tend to get 200$-400$ normal sets. This makes the whole thing very questionable, including the recent set lists. Also lets use Rule one, do you remember what it is @SumoLego? Is the source reliable, no have no idea where it came from.

More interestingly at around 4.30 in the design video for the castle, you can see something that looks like Diagonal Alley. Rule one again, is the source reliable, well yes its Lego.

Any word on if we're getting them in the UK yet? I need that Harry Potter one and I quite like the look of the Jurassic World one too.

@SumoLego I thought it was Diagonal Alley as a kid (the pun is the same in Norwegian) until one day my grandmother read to me and kept insisting it was «Diagon Alley». It took a bit of time for me to accept it.

I think the whole mood of the series was really set by Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Tone.

In the B&N thread, but apparently in the US, B&N will have the LEGO formerly TRU bricktober sets. AS to how they will distribute them or what promo it could be, unknown right now I believe
  • dannyrwwdannyrww Member Posts: 1,394
Sounds like they only have Harry Potter.

Leaked image of Diagon Alley has surfaced, a miniature version.

It's a promotional set, not the full sized version we will also be getting.

I feel like this is like the mini modulars sets. It may come as a GWP on a new Diagon Alley or just be free with a Harry Potter spend amount.

So other than writting diagonal!!! How did I do?

Yes it's this set you can see in the design video.

All I need now is a Percival Graves. Got the last three today, but all the cases I found had been picked through already so Graves was gone, naturally. Why did LEGO make this particular figure as one per case? I think I would have preferred Dumbledore or someone found in one of the sets to be made the limited release like Newt. Graves is actually at least highly sought after as far as I know.

I won't be happy having to buy this to get Ollivander. That is just ugly, I'll part that out without building, which is about as damning as I get. I reckon they knew this was a massive dud and that's why they put Ollivander in... why they've taken this to market at all is totally beyond me.

This is the one that will be worth hundreds in about five years time.

This would be a cool GWP.  I'm hoping that's the case actually.  But speaking of mini-modular, it's high time they start working on the rest. :)

I'm not convinced that is a real set. Looks like someone's moc and a decent handle on Photoshop.

It's not even mini modular style, look bottom left, it has an interior.... Probably the worst move made here...

Starting on motorising the express. I've seen jangbricks's video of this, other people done it yet?

Haven’t yet but will be. We picked up more track and a second-hand Power Function and RC yesterday in preparation.
Let us know how you get on...
And a list of additional parts you used (not see on Jang’s video) would be very helpful.
    Goodluck with your project.

I went with a different options than what you're going for @snowhitie. I have the train motor under the tender with the battery box sitting on top. The IR receiver is inside the first 2 studs of the front section. I also found that mine works better using a 5l technic beams to connect each section when running as I find the 3l technic beams too tight on the turns. I'm also changing the LBG frictionless pin that connects the very fromt wheels to black as the LBG ones allow it to jump a little. I'm away from my lego at the minute so can't post a pic. I also built an extra carriage from spares and a small bricks and pieces order.

It's my first time to do a mod like this but I'm liking where it's going. I'm still in the think it out phase of having the Weasley Ford Anglia car following the train....

I did the same with the Christmas train last year. Much neater to have everything in a slightly extended tender rather than wires from the tender to the locomotive. I've not had any issues with the tender pushing the locomotive rather then the locomotive pulling the train.

Looks like the "Diabolical Alley" is real, it's ON THE FRONT PAGE!

Box art is all kinds of wrong, especially the back, "Attack of the 50ft Old Man". It's so bad they've had to label it in eight languages.

This is unusual for me, my reactions aren't normally this strong but I really don't like that set.

#40289 follows the BB8 #40288 giveaway, so I'm thinking this is a GWP, and suddenly I don't dislike it as much...
  • snowhitiesnowhitie Member Posts: 3,076
Thanks for the input about the train, I was thinking it looked bad with the wires but worried there might not be enough power putting it under the tender. Will do some more fiddling later and might have to order a couple of pieces.

Re the set, if it's real I'm going to need that Olivander!
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,534
Huh. Well I guess it is real. If those 2*4 tiles making the pavement are printed those will be in high demand!

I'm gonna need to get my hand on those tiles!!  Surprised this isn't a GWP.  $40-50 seems kinda high no?

Not sure if it's been discussed here, but I was interested to see Jang point out an issue with the new Hogwarts Castle:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTjMu68FIpo

I think I would have assumed I made an assembly mistake and spent ages trying to figure out where I went wrong, but it does look like a design issue. Did it stand out to anyone here who has built and bought it?

  • Baby_YodaBaby_Yoda Member Posts: 1,295
I suppose if you're really concerned about it, you could always just straighten that sub-assembly. After all, like Jang said, it's only a very, very slight angle.

I also plan on motorizing it. We bought 2 sets plus all the stuff to motorize it, just haven't gotten around to it yet. So I'm all ears for any thoughts anyone has on this.

I'm still collecting the HP CMF set (I've got Graves, so the hardest is done), and I've noticed that Hermione's cat doesn't hold to the display stand well - it just pops off, even when placed on 2 studs. My brother has the same issue with his copy. It's mainly the front legs of the cat.
  • BrainsluggedBrainslugged Member Posts: 2,199
^My cat does that as well. I also vaguely remember someone else mentioning that on these forums when the CMFs were first released.

Woa - you should see the mark-up here in Harry Potter Studios...
    Aragog’s Lair is £16
    CMFs are £3.50

Lucky for me no one was interested in the CMFs so managed to find Percival Graves.

£2.99 each is pricey enough, though I've seen CMFs on sale for £3.99 at motorway services (WH Smith).
