Ridiculous. Why hasn't this been mentioned anywhere?? Shambles. I doubt I'll go either way, but I'd like to have been given the information to make an informed choice.

Well, here's a screenshot of the email I got on Aug 2nd. I did think there was a lack of chatter about it, but put it down to no-one really caring? :/

There has been a lot of signings recently, I wondered if the allure had worn off.

I'm not sure which email list I'm down on to get these emails but I also got one for the Aston Martin signing recently.

What time do sets become available online? I'm guessing around midnight UK time?
  • iso3200iso3200 Member Posts: 2,065
@omnium as well as the email above it was announced on the Lego Facebook page too.

Not sure if I’ll go yet either. People outside already? Mental. It’s not like they announced special cards or limited numbers.

August with kids off, tourists, and the Harry Potter factor? Will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

Think I’ll decide in the morning.

Maybe @Mr_Hobbles you are on the list since you have a black VIP card? Might be an advantage that they don't tell you about ;)

Or more to the point, might be because you went to the signing? But yes, apart from the chatter on this thread I hadn't heard anything either.

To those that go, good luck and hope it doesn't get too warm for you.

Can the set be purchased from store opening time or do you have to wait until 4pm?
  • Mr_CrossMr_Cross Member Posts: 1,672
I have yet to buy anything from the theme, I missed out on the 342 at argos and amazon and it's sort of put me off buying until there's discounts again.

I've had a brief look at the figures too but lost the will to search out the characters I want pretty quickly - it's school holidays and my kids aren't very patient, so prolonged searches are virtually impossible.

I definitely want Hogwarts, but until I've raised funds, it's not going to happen... I'm also going to try wait for double points or see it it turns up in John Lewis or Smyths.
  • BrainsluggedBrainslugged Member Posts: 2,199
I also got an email about the signing event but it just went into my "Lego" folder that I never look in - unless I hear through this forum that something interesting has been sent out. I do have the black VIP, although I can't imagine that's why I got it. Maybe just all UK-registered VIPs?

Very strange. @Mr_Hobbles , I didn't get an email about it, although I got one about the DB5 event. @snowhitie, I have a black VIP card, so that doesn't add up. And @iso3200, I see no posts about it on the LEGO Facebook page, but now I know it exists, I found it on the Events tab on Facebook.

So I'm still pegging this one down as poor communication on their behalf.

I got the email and the last signing event I went to was the Exo-suit pre launch so almost certainly nothing to do with the black VIP card. I suspect spam filters or email preferences have caught some people out

Adzbadboy How many now? :) Will see you when I get there!

I plan to be there for 4pm, so likely 100th in the queue! Who knows.

I spoke to the people queueing when I walked past last night and they said they had 600 copies of the set, so I'm sure there'll be plenty. Only trouble is, how fast the queue goes...
  • snowhitiesnowhitie Member Posts: 3,076
@Diggydoes I just got an email to announce availabitly, I've tried and it worked with me. I didn't actually pay because I don't have the budget to buy it ;)

Maybe they just needed to flip the switch to make it available?

Me too and I can go through to checkout as well.

I haven't bought it either, too expensive and not sure I want it anyway at that scale. If I'm patient enough to wait for further discounts and sell spare minifigs off I can buy an awful lot of #75954 sets for £349. Reckon a minifig scale Hogwarts could easily be built from half a dozen of those and maybe a couple of #75953

20 have queued up, you basically purchase the set and then queue up. See you then!

Status: Got my copy; 5 hours to go!

Interesting, so the purchase is separate from the signing...

^Presumably to make sure the set isn't sold out by the time it comes around to the signing.  That would be an interesting situation!

Ugh the new giant 6000 piece hogwarts castle is available for sale and I'm so tempted. Spam me with reasons not to indulge! I don't have the space or spare money for that set!
  • BrainsluggedBrainslugged Member Posts: 2,199
I'm gonna be at the Leicester Square store in about half an hour. Still telling myself I Don't know if I'm going to get it / a signed one today. Probably just deluding myself. Black Abercrombie t-shirt and cargo shorts if anyone wants to say hi. Would be nice to meet some Bricksetters.

Basically you purchase for the set and then queue up,  the set was available for sale at 10:00am for everyone so that’s what makes it different. Similar to the Fishing Store.

Well I'm here, but in the purchase queue. :) I actually think there's more people here for this than the UCS Falcon.

Yes.... How did a dinosaur attack Hogwarts??!! What spell was used to contain it on a Muggle contraption?

Anxiously awaiting a seller to get back to me on the purchase of the complete CMF series for a fantastic price. I was in the car, on my way to meet him when, "something came up" and he would have to reschedule for later today.

That is usually code for, "I googled the set price and realized I was an idiot for posting it at such a low price and want more money."

This I could ask for forgiveness if I used the Imperius Curse to get it?

Did you see Jang's 40 minutes review of Hogwarts Castle?
    What do you think?

    He's rather critical.

  • LuLegoLuLego Member Posts: 1,010
^ Just watched it (although no intention of buying this set as out of my budget).
I enjoyed his review and could understand many of the critical points he made. I thought he was fair. Although I must admit I haven’t seen the set in the flesh.

But then I always enjoy Jang’s reviews!

  • Baby_YodaBaby_Yoda Member Posts: 1,295
I have heard the first and third of those numerous times, but I'd say the prominence of Diagon Alley rumours is mostly just wishful thinking. The Chamber of Secrets is simply an obvious route for Lego to take, and if there are any more Harry Potter sets coming along, I bet that'll be among them regardless. However, I highly doubt they'd introduce a special mould for the Basilisk immediately after releasing a brick-built one.

Are Toys R Us minifig packs usually sold by Lego as well? I've never tried getting one before, so have no idea how these things work... All I know is that I need that upcoming HP pack in my life!
  • ecmo47ecmo47 Member Posts: 2,101
^ They never were in the past but now that they have lost access to their biggest market in the USA maybe that will change....but I doubt it.

It would be highly surprising to me if LEGO doesn't make a Diagon Alley at some stage. And when they make it, it will be the biggest set of its wave and so cost somewhere in the region of $200-400.

Anyone can predict it is coming at some stage and claim their sources are correct with that type of information. It means nothing.
