^It must be the Hooch Minifigure I'm thinking of. Only saw the movies after the new sets were announced.

Would they be working on a second wave already? Perhaps some will release with the next film in November.
  • wardmwardm Member Posts: 877
I heard that the ollivander figure is coming as an exclusive figure with a book.. quite sad about that, because I was hoping that another diagon alley set was in the making!

Let’s just hope this theme lasts as long as the five fantastic beasts movies and they get to do more awesome sets and maybe even more cmf lines?

I hope no more HP CMF series, at least for three years. Another CMF series would be packed full of repeat figures, from either the current CMF series or sets, or very minor characters that kids are unlikely to know and hence sales would be poor.

I hope they just release the remaining modular parts of the castle in minifig scale during next few years and I will be mega-happy. Next wave of CMF is highly unlikely and as CCC stated, it would be poor from obvious reasons.

I think a second series of CMFs could work - there are a lot of professors and members of the Order who haven't been included in the first series. Plus they could do Harry, Ron etc. in different outfits - maybe their Christmas jumpers.

I'd love a second series, like historyman said there really is a huge cast to choose from before you hit minor characters and of course we have the ever expanding Fantastic Beasts universe to take from too.

    Which others would you include?

I doubt kids would care too much if they don't get a Wilhelmina Grubbly-Plank, for example. There don't seem to be that many important characters not already included in the CMF series and the first wave of sets, or likely to be included in future waves when the relevant sets come along and new FB films.

Plus another HP CMF series means another (presumably licensed) series misses out. I imagine The Lego Movie 2 will take priority next.

They might wait a while, there was quite a gap between TLBM series 1 and 2 CMF releases and TLNM had a CMF release in between. So no reason they won't do the same with this theme too.

I'm sure if they did another CMF series they could include another version of Harry, Ron, Hermoine. There are goblins they could release. A few professors (Lockhart for example), a Goblin or two (the Fantastic Beast movie had a neat one played by Ron Perlman). We could probably get a whole series based on Weasleys.

Well, there are still quite a number of unreleased characters so far. They should make for a decent minifigure series (and I would totally buy them all!).

PS: The Dursleys, Peeves, the remaining 3 House Ghosts, Crabbe and Goyle, Madam Pomfrey, Professor Binns

CoS: Lockhart, Ginny, pretty much the whole Weasley family, Professor Sprout, Moaning Myrtle

PoA: Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, Cornelius Fudge, Stan Shunpike, Ernie Prang

GoF: Karkaroff, Viktor Krum, Fleur Delacour

OotP: Tonks, Kingsley, Kreacher, Rita Skeeter, Mundungus, Bellatrix, Firenze

    HBP: Fenrir Greyback

Given that they have a penchant for adding completely random characters like Dean Thomas and Susan Bones in the current wave, I wouldn't be surprised if even more obscure characters appear in future.

Got my figures today from local toy shop that feels them out for you.

They normally have a get 5 figures get 6th free offer by Lego. This time apparently Lego had said that “the Harry Potter figures are in short supply so free ones can only be from another series”. Which given how many boxes are around already I don’t believe it.

It sounds more like “we have too much left over stock from previous CMFs that we need to shift”. The toy shop had plenty of the last two regular CMFs lines, batman 2 and ninjago. None of which I want any more of. As stickers are valid until end of the year, I will wait and see what the next set looks like.....

Looking forward to opening the Harry Potter ones though

Regular sets aren't out for most of the films / episodes / years you mention, so I'd imagine most of the more important missing characters you mention will come in sets.

I'd like a second series of CMFs. There are many figures that I want to collect. It's likely we'll get several more sets, but history shows us we'll get lots of Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Past sets have tended to leave out interesting supporting characters. So even if there is a new "Escape from Privet Drive" (for example) we may get Vernon, Harry and Ron, but not Dudley or Petunia.
I tried to pick characters they haven't done before and characters in need of an update. Also alternate outfits that would only appear in sets that would Lego will probably never make. I admit it's hard to come up with appropriate accessories for some of my choices.
    1.   Lily Potter- wand, baby Harry
    2.   James Potter- wand, snitch
    3.   Vernon Dursley- twisted shotgun
    4.   Petunia Dursley- frying pan and sausage
    5.   Dudley Dursley- pig tail
    6.   Arthur Weasley- wand, muggle artifact
    7.   Molly Weasley- wand, garden gnome
    8.   Remus Lupin- wand, wolf head
    9.   Nymphadora Lupin(Tonks)- wand, alternate colored hair
    10. Peeves- chains
    11. Moaning Myrtle- cauldron
    12. Kreacher- locket
    13. Rita Skeeter- quill, daily prophet
    14. Firenze-  centaur stuff
    16. Kingsley Shacklebolt- wand, broom
    18. Harry Potter Dress robes- wand
    19. Ron Weasley Dress robes- wand
    20. Hermione Granger Yule Ball dress- wand
    21. Viktor Krum Dress robes- wand
    22. Fleur Delacour Yule Ball dress- wand
    Also
    23. Bill Weasley- Goblin Gold
    24. Charlie Weasley- Baby dragon
    25. Griphook- sword of Gryffindor

The Fantastic Beasts franchise will be going on for quite some time with a movie release every two years, so as I’ve stated there will be five movies in total, going up to 2024! Plenty of time to get a second CMF series, don’t you think?
  • wardmwardm Member Posts: 877
As we’re talking about possible future CMF options, we might as well talk about future sets... which sets do you want to see made?

I’d love to see some more Hogwarts sections: Defence against the dark arts classroom, maybe another troll on the loose toilet, the room of requirement, herbology green house, another Dumbledore’s office, maybe a scene from the battle of Hogwarts with breaking/exploding wall sections, maybe the porch where they get attacked by a giant, they could include some dementors, boathouse, ... These are things I’d love to see them do, but I don’t know if they’re that realistic.

I think they will release another Hagrid’s hut and Knight Bus.

Other locations I wish to see them visit (again) are: Hogsmeade (with an Abrefort minifig), another Shrieking Shack some place in the ministry of magic, another diagon alley set, Bill and Fleur’s shell cottage, Xenophilius Lovegood’s tower, Gringotts vault with dragon, a forbidden forest set with grawp and centaurs, another privet drive set with exploding letter function from the fireplace, another Burrow set, sirius black’s house (modular style), goderic’s hollow graveyard with bathilda bagshot minifig,  ...

From the fantastic beasts franchise for the first movie there aren’t that many places that stand out. They could do a macusa set, underground fight ...
I’m guessing the crimes of Grindelwald will visit more interesting places that could be made into a set, like for example the circus.

    Does anyone have other ideas?

  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
It wouldn't surprise me if they remake every (major) set / location they have done in the past ranges.

I wonder what films the next wave will focus on. Based on the most glaring omissions from this wave and the first films, I have some speculations. I don't think they're done with 1-3 yet, so my guesses are mainly from 2 and 3:

"Hogwart's Section", featuring Moaning Myrtle's bathroom and the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets, possibly in combination with the Dark Arts classroom. Including Harry, Ron, Moaning Myrtle, Gilderoy Lockhart, Mrs. Norris and possibly Ginny. (Maybe even regular Neville, if the set is large enough, and does feature the Dark Arts classroom.) I don't think a set like this would necessarily include the actual Chamber of Secrets, since we already got the basilisk, and the castle seems to stay above ground.

"The Shrieking Shack", including Harry, Ron, Hermione, Sirius, Wormtail and Werewolf Lupin. Maybe a dementor as well.

"Hagrid's Hut", featuring Hagrid and some more characters. It could be the trio, like last time, and it could also include characters like Malfoy or Fudge. For a 1-3 rendition of the hut, Malfoy seems a likely antagonist, as he discovers Norbert and is attacked by Buckbeak, both of whom are likely candidates to be included in such a set. In addition to these fantastic beasts, it should include Fang.

"The Knightbus", including Harry, Stan Shunpike, Ernie Prang, and maybe someone like Tom the Barman, Fudge, or a Dursley.

"The Burrow", including all the Weasleys (maybe even Percy). As this first wave was completely Weasley free (apart from Ron) I can't see this set not happening. All the Weasleys are very popular characters, so I can't see them all being excluded if they haven't been saved for this set.

Finally found the sets in-store in Malaysia today. Found a couple of almost-full CMF boxes but Graves is sadly missing. Ended up getting the Hogwarts Express, which is a Toys r Us exclusive here (yes, Toys r Us is alive and well in Malaysia). Hopefully we'll have the Bricktober sets soon.
  • LegolisLegolis Member Posts: 248
If it helps anyone I got my chance to feel through a second fresh box yesterday and although it was only feeling (no more for me!) I do believe what I posted earlier in the thread to be true. Graves sits behind Harry on the first row but where exactly can change. Credence is behind Harry on rows 2 and 3.

Also thanks to snowhitie for posting those pictures, it's a set I wasn't that excited about from descriptions but it looks really fun.

Two boxes in my local Sainsbury's today, one looks to have a couple missing, could not find Percival Graves but did find him in 2nd untouched box. Left side, near the back was his location.

I got to sainsbury's at 9:30. Two boxes out, both looked reasonably full but had already been "harvested".

I checked the 2 boxes in my local Sainsbury's just after 8am and 1 had been harvested! Was lucky they hadn't been through the 2nd box!

Well I tried the two Sainsbury's nearest me today and not a sight of anything HP/FB related at all - maybe tomorrow!

There were some in Sainsbury's yesterday, but well picked over. Surprisingly I did find Graves, and it was strange it was the one with a security tag on!

Went to Barnes and Noble this morning and someone had already purchased their one box of figures. I went to Target and someone had already purchased the two boxes that had been put out. Luckily, they had a third in the back that hadn't been brought out yet, so I was able to go through that with about 5 other people who showed up after I asked an employee about the figures. There was some grumbling from the others about people buying the whole boxes and reselling the figures, but that honestly doesn't bother me. What bothers me is if this person takes them home, feels out the figures they want, and then returns the rest.

I returned from my 3 month Lego hiatus today to get some Harry Potter CMFs. Was not able to feel a Percival Graves. Got Hermione, but her cat has no clutch. I can get it on studs, but it will not stay upright. Disappointing. Trelawney meanwhile is an awesome fig. I also got 2 saucers with her. Is this common?

My mam spotted these in a toy shop today with the buy 5 get 6th free. I asked her to just grab the back 6 on the left. Sure enough I now have Graves! I also got uniform harry,  hermoine,  newt and 2 jacob.  Not bad for for a random grab :)

1 issue I have is hermoine cat won't stay on the studs, keeps popping off. Anyone else have this issue?
  • AdelecAdelec Member Posts: 171
I had a lot of trouble with Hermiones cat! It fits best over 2 studs.

Mine pops off whether it's connected by one or two studs. Asked Lego CS and they said no one in the office got it yet so they can't check haha. But have asked for photo / video and they'll lodge a quality issue the proper way. If more people let them know, more chance of it getting sorted I think.

Hmmm. I found two full boxes in Smyths that didn't look like they'd been picked over. Grabbed 4 from the back left of each - no Graves :(
  • CorsairCorsair Member Posts: 21
So excited by all of the new Harry Potter sets coming out this year! I've purchased all of them except the BrickHeadz. I did indulge on the Harry/Hedwig set, but not Hermione or Ron/Dumbledore.

Side note, today the new Harry's Journey to Hogwarts polybag was released at Target. I had some trouble finding it because it shares the same DCPI # as all other poly bags, but eventually the associate was able to help me find them. This set is a really cheap way to get some extra owls, generic hogwarts uniforms, cauldrons, wands, and spell book pieces!

I haven't decided if I will buy the new giant castle coming out on the 15th for VIPs.. I don't really love microfigure-scaled things, but it looks magnificent. Really, I almost want it just for the founder minifigs, haha! But, I don't think I have room to display it. The only "giant" set I own is the Disney Castle, and I can't really host something much larger than that.
  • Coolguy5000Coolguy5000 Member Posts: 1,580
    Question for you guys -

Will a complete minifigure from this wave be required to have both wands (and sprue? ) in your eyes to be 'complete'. Or are you looking at the spare wands like set spares - not required for the build therefore no need to include them.
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,459
Just finished sorting a box of figures and now have my complete set.

Having now seen them in the plastic I think my top two are Moody/Barty Crouch Jr & Newt. Both have lots of detailing and the Barty Crouch Jr toungue face is brilliant!
  • CorsairCorsair Member Posts: 21
I think my fave is either Dumbledore or Trelawney! I personally consider the second wand and spruce extra pieces
  • Gibbo1959Gibbo1959 Member Posts: 539
^For my display set I’ve kept the wands on the spruce and have the fig holding one end; where the minifig has both hands full already they’re tucked in or leaning against the minifig. For extras, no such ‘rules’ apply.

Amazon.co.uk have £5 off each of the three new Harry Potter sets Great Hall, Whomping Willow and Hogwarts Express. Not a huge saving, but better than rrp for anyone who wants them early. Might be just for Prime customers, though, not sure

Ok. That is kind of crazy. I accidentally came home with Graves after thinking I had not found him, and somehow managed to not get Dean Thomas, despite having felt up a ton of them. Overall, I found everyone I wanted, and just need to go back and get Dean at some point.

Went to the Calgary LEGO store this morning and there was a waiting line to get in! Never been to a release date before, does it happen all the time? The store did have a large stock of the Harry Potter sets, so I managed to get a full set of all the sets. The minifigs were a mess, but I went to another toy store for them. They just opened a new box for me and Graves/Grindelwald was fifth in the left row if you start from the back.

On the fence about the Potter sets. My funds are low right now. Im hoping they last for a while, but what really has me thinking about Potter purchases are the CMF Potter series 1. Buy a box, or wait and get at least a set...

Haven’t been able to find any HP CMF near me yet. Checked 2 Targets and 1 Barnes and Noble. Nearest Lego store is 2 hours one way :(.
  • dannyrwwdannyrww Member Posts: 1,394
Found a fairly unpicked over box at  a Target in Brookfield Wisconsin (in the collectible card section) I started on the left and found the 3 figures I needed. No sign of Graves in the left so I would guess he was taken. I did say before I found my Graves on the right of a box, but I think he may have been moved as that box was picked over. I've seen enough evidence online to say he must typically be on the left.
