I hope an unopened box of these eventually becomes available on amazon. I'd love to preorder them but I don't paypal so I can't order them now from anyone who is selling them.
I'm not sure how it works in America, but can't you simply walk into the Lego Store/Target/Barnes & Nobles etc. and ask to buy an unopened box?
There is no LEGO store where I live. Our local B&N doesn't sell LEGO products. Toys 'R Us has closed and I have never managed to get a full box out of Target. It stinks to live in a smaller city when it comes to getting LEGO. There are two LEGO stores about an hour's drive away, but as I don't drive, it doesn't help me. I do all my LEGO shopping online.

Finally managed to place a pre-order for a box of the minifigures, and at a 15% discount too. Two friends have kindly agreed to split the box with me, which means I don't have to go around feeling bags in all the Lego stores. Looking forward to picking it up come August!
You do realize that there are only 2 of some of the figures in the box?

As much as I like pre-ordering boxes or sets, Im not paying over the price of retail for a set. I'll take my chances at LEGO, retail stores, and LDCs.

Yeah, I do. I want the full 22, another friend only wanted the 16 HP figures, and the other will take 1 of each leftover character (which still saves a lot of time rather than feeling boxes).

This leaves me with the 4 spare FB core characters, but I'll try to sell those off somewhere.

It's looking less and less likely I'll get a box at this point. I thought release would be later in the month and we get married on the 10th, so this isn't happening /sigh. Is there a consensus on where in the box the chase figure sits yet? I didn't have trouble with the police man but then I knew where to look and went out day one. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Any rumors yet for a future wave of sets?
As @CCC said, only speculation at the minute but I'm fairly confident that there is more to come.

My theory is that there will probably be one wave per year until the Fantastic Beasts films finish (supposedly 5 films total - originally planned as three but WB advised Rowling that the plot synopsis she submitted to them was too long for 3 films so authorised 5) I guess that'll take us to somewhere around 2025.

I suspect it would be 3-8 sets per wave with the years when a Fantastic Beasts film is released getting more and years without getting less to avoid too much repetition. I can imagine a series 2 CMF in there but personally I prefer not to expect it and get my hopes up too much :-P

It would make an awesome wedding gift :) Is it because of the cost? It should be just a fraction of the overall cost of getting married.
  • LegolisLegolis Member Posts: 248
Hah, I know! I thought they were due in September. To be fair any other month it would be fine but the coffers are empty. Husband-to-be has no issue with me picking up a box (he knows how excited I am about Harry Potter Lego) but the funds just won't be there in time. :( I'd already come to terms with missing AFOL shopping day but this is a real kicker. Hopefully someone will post where the chase figure is and I'll just have to go out for a drive first thing. Ugh really not looking forward to feeling these ones out.

Sadly yes, as we don't have one! We've been together 10 years and so felt a bit cheeky putting a list together. Now I see my error... :( Nevermind, I have faith I can find what I need. I just need to put a bit of effort in.

There's an image going around of a Target scanner showing the Harry Potter CMFs as being $4.49 USD instead of the usual $3.99
  • SumoLegoSumoLego Member Posts: 15,215
I think Target customarily charges more if you take the CMFs from the impulse section at the front of the store.  Whenever I buy at Target, I intently watch the scanned to make sure it's $3.99 or less.

But if this is true - no HP CMFs from Target for me!  (Although my local Target still has Batman CMF S1 on the rack, so its moot.)

Does anybody have any info about the position of the minifigures in the box?
  • 560Heliport560Heliport Member Posts: 3,713
Target often has older CMFs with a "was $4.79, new lower price $3.99" tag...
  • Zedicus16Zedicus16 Member Posts: 2
I had a chance to feel a box and I found Percival on the left side about 3-4 in from the back.  The left side and the right side seemed to be figure for figure besides a couple. I wish I would have charted it better but I was just trying to feel them all. Cho's hair was rubbery too, wasn't expecting that. Trelawny's cup and saucer is also two pieces. The wands also feel weird, I think maybe they are knock outs and slightly rubbery but not sure. I'm not certain all the boxes will be the same either. I also remember the first one on the left side was Newt.

That doesn't match my experience at all, but maybe the boxes are more random? I know with the police officer he was found in the back left corner from what I could find on forums, but in the box I went through he was 5 in from the back but still on the left side.

They did say it may be off by 3 spaces or so.....I always thought that the boxes were more random, but when the police officer came up in the same space all the time....personally I'll try this pic as a guide, but I am not counting on it being correct.

I wish they organized it better like grouping the same figs together.
  • HugeYellowBrickHugeYellowBrick Member Posts: 496
The policeman wasn't always in the same place, but usually in the first five from the back on the left hand side.

for what reason would you take that picture and not the whole box?

From a video I watched from someone unpacking a whole box I could see this:

I found a couple of opened boxes at a store in Canada. I’ve mistaken Tina for Ron somehow (thought the hot dog bun was Scabbers).
    no Percical Graves of course.
The figure that I felt most was Flitwick and I only found one Luna, one Neville, one Newt and one Voldemort. Of the other students there were more multiples!

Brilliant, thanks all. Back left then. Anyone found them out in the UK yet? I wonder if some might put them out at the weekend?
  • BrickByBrickBrickByBrick Member Posts: 743
^^ I didn't go, but I heard the Hedgewig was glued, so there were no instructions. I did see someone on instagram recreate it in LDD though, forget who...
  • RonyarRonyar Member Posts: 373
@stlux No instructions for Hedwig, and no opportunity to get the built model either.  Wish I had taken more pictures of Hedwig to try and recreate it, but they were busy and I couldn't get around the table to see all sides of it.

I went to that. There were no instructions for Hedwig, she was just sitting on a table as a display. It was an impressive model. I'd say about the size of the "UCS" BB 8. Lots of parts but nothing stood out as rare.
  • J0rgenJ0rgen Member Posts: 577
Thanks, @rwsales! It's a pretty nice model, but I'll definitely stick to the minifig scale sets. I can't believe the rumour about the house founders being included as minifigs was actually true! They won't leave a hole in my Harry Potter collection, as that is focused on events from the 20's and 90's.

Great stuff, especially if you're interested in building additional bits to add to the minifigure scale buildings in this colour scheme. I was hoping tobe able to bypass this one, but I think it's going to be an essential buy for me.

This article from EW has the US price at $399, so hopefully less than $600 here in Australia

I totally agree that I'm turned for the better on Hogwarts.  Can't believe the four minifigs they decided to include and it looks like there are a lot of microfigs included too!!

$400 seems good for this centerpiece of a set.  Wow.

This is way better than I expected.  I can't wait.  I love the useage of micro figures instead of the game piece sized figures.  The founder mini figures are just the icing on an all ready delcious cake
