    ^ Bellatrix Lestrange!
Always too expensive for anyone late to the party.

Of the 50 upcoming «Harry Potter» minifigs (FB excluded), nine are characters never done by LEGO before, seven are Harry (only one duplicate), five are Ron (one duplicate), and five are Hermione (two duplicates), 16 are Hogwarts staff (only Snape and Dumbledore repeated), Voldemort is the only openly villainous villain, and Nick and Dobby are the only non humans (unless Bogart Snape should be counted here, not as staff).

Philosopher's Stone has 18 minifigures, Chamber of Secrets has 11, Prisoner of Azkaban has 14 (counting Michael Gambon and the robed Gryffindors as Azkaban, because Ron is based on the Buckbeak scene and has Scabbers), Goblet of Fire has four (counting Cho), Order of the Phoenix has one, and Half-Blood Prince has two.

Having had a bit of time to digest the reveal :

    1. I'm more convinced than ever that there will be more Harry Potter LEGO after this wave.

    2. While his isn't the line up I would have picked, it's not terrible. I was certain that the now debunked list that was being circulated early on that had a ton of ghosts etc on it was false, that list would have (in my opinion) been worse than this.

    3. I know a lot of people are complaining about the new Dobby but I can see the logic in the new head mould. Removing the eye moulding makes it easier for LEGO to reuse the mould for different expressions - part of why I think there will be MORE Harry Potter sets, I'm thinking we might see an angry faced Dobby in a set that shows him saving Harry etc from the Malfloys and fighting Bellatrix.

    4. 22 figures is annoying as hell - I'd have preferred them not include FB characters and add a few more HP characters for a nice round 20.

    5. Very glad that Cho is in the CMF line and not a set - gonna need a load of Ravenclaw torsos, so this should keep the price a bit lower than what I imagine Hufflepuff will be like.

    6. Why no Gilderoy Lockhart? With the amount of costume variations he had it feels like a missed trick to includr him as a CMF (and still have options for including in sets later)

    7. Assuming the Wizarding World theme continues I think a CMF S2 is possible but not until 2020 earliest.

    8. I really wish they'd done Credence wearing his hat...even if he didn't wear it for long in the film, just would have made the figure I see as the blandest of the bunch that little bit better.

Yep, they are definitely going all in on HP this time around.

    2. While his isn't the line up I would have picked, it's not terrible. I was certain that the now debunked list that was being circulated early on that had a ton of ghosts etc on it was false, that list would have (in my opinion) been worse than this.

I had hoped for a few of the ghosts. I really like the Nearly Headless Nick one, mainly as the parts would be ideal for historical MOCs too. But at least there are not loads of Harry in this series.
    3. I know a lot of people are complaining about the new Dobby but I can see the logic in the new head mould. I think you are right here. The flat head does all for different prints. But I think they are going to have to do better than they did with Gollum or Azog (very minor changes to the faces).
    4. 22 figures is annoying as hell - I'd have preferred them not include FB characters and add a few more HP characters for a nice round 20.
Yes, the 22 will skew the distirbutions. 20 would have made a nice round 3 sets per box, with none rare or common. 22 will mean an uneven distribution.
    5. Very glad that Cho is in the CMF line and not a set - gonna need a load of Ravenclaw torsos, so this should keep the price a bit lower than what I imagine Hufflepuff will be like.
It would have been good to have (at least one) torso from each as these could well be the "army builders" of the series - even better if they are the more frequent ones. With the variation in heads and legs, many children could be made.
    6. Why no Gilderoy Lockhart? With the amount of costume variations he had it feels like a missed trick to includr him as a CMF (and still have options for including in sets later)
He'll be coming. They seem to be going all-in, so I doubt they will miss anyone!
    7. Assuming the Wizarding World theme continues I think a CMF S2 is possible but not until 2020 earliest.
I hope they don't do it until at least 2020. Doing an HP line every year will make them feel a bit lacklustre as well as knocking out other CMF series. It didn't go well for Simpsons 2, nor Batman 2.
    8. I really wish they'd done Credence wearing his hat...even if he didn't wear it for long in the film, just would have made the figure I see as the blandest of the bunch that little bit better.
I guess it could be the problem of doing just a hat vs doing a hat plus hair new mold (like Riddler). Parts-wise, his jacket is nice although it is a shame they put his belt up so high as it means he must wear DBG trousers. They have done something similar on Jacob too. Still, I guess that is better than the continued print across parts that doesn't always quite match up right.

I definitely would have been in for more ghosts, but I only would have considered 1 per series likely. If they are going all in on this theme then drawing more characters that feature in the books but not the films would have been a clever way to grow the possibilities and the ghosts fall squarely in that category.

Too many non film characters might have been risky on the mass appeal aspect but if they'd left out the FB characters then they could have done something like

Professor Binns, Ernie MacMillan, Dudley Dursley (with pig tail) and Cornellius Fudge

This would keep the total to 20 and feel a bit more balanced to me.

I'm also quite disappointed they didn't use the CMF series for a Cat faced Hermionie...maybe if we're lucky they might do a Moaning Myrtle's bathroom set with a Myrtle, Cat Hermionie and Ron/Harry as Crabbe/Goyle figures.

I really want these minifigures but don't know how I'll get them as I don't know where to find them near me and I don't use paypal to buy an entire box from minifiguresplus. :(

Why does everyone conclude that Ron having Scabbers means he's from Prisoner of Azkaban? Ron literally has Scabbers from the very first day Harry meets him on the Hogwarts Express.

@Jern92 Ron's look seems to be based on the scene with Buckbeak from the third film, both because of the open robe with loose shirt, and because he only has that hairstyle in that film. It's a little inconsistent with the Hogwarts Express set, where the kids still have short legs, in the same style as the first two films, but since Ron doesn't have Scabbers after Azkaban, it must be based on this film.

Not sure if it's already been posted, but the BrickHeadz for Ron & Dumbledore are now on UK Lego site for 1st July release.

When does HP go live on [email protected]? Stopped by my target and they only had 3 sets of each and only 3 different ones so want to buy them online. I'm eastern time.

So at 6:30am on day 1, today’s U.K. releases are already labelled as being on ‘back order.’
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
    edited July 2018
So, did they go on backorder that fast, or were they released as backordered?
ETA: Also what is the deal with Hogwarts Express not released in the US at this time?
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,459
It’s all the new Brickheadz labelled as backorder so I suspect they went live at backorder - Given how often the website crashes under the strain of mass orders on release days it seems like a good idea to me.
  • dragon114dragon114 Member Posts: 642
looks like the hogwarts express was delayed to next month
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
I ordered about 1:30am EST time.  The brickheadz were available, but the sets backordered. I was wondering if that was due to what I was hearing with Target having the sets available early. Of course, if that is the case, it does seem odd that shop.lego would say the sets were  available 7/1.

I presume I will still earn the double VIP points, just not until those sets ship.
  • bulbathorbulbathor Member Posts: 49
I ordered just after midnight and they were on backorder, but had an estimated shipping date of tomorrow...
  • BoomstickBoomstick Member Posts: 247
Went ahead and ordered from my local target online for pickup today.  Sad about the train was wanting it now.
  • LegoTTLegoTT Member Posts: 487
Wow- quite the demand!  I think I’ll go to my local Lego store and see what I can snag this morning. If it’s nothing, ah well. They’ll be out for a while. Bummed that the train isn’t out today- that’s the main set I wanted.
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,459
Had a little nose round town this morning, seems the Ron/Dumbledor set is delayed or something in the UK - toy section of local department store had the others and said they thought they were getting the ron/Dumbledor this week but didn't.

WH Smiths had the two sets available over the rrp but on buy one get one half price
  • kezkez Member Posts: 831
Smyths have all of the Wizarding World sets available for pre-order; some of the stores also have a few of each of the BrickHeadz available. :-D
  • LegoTTLegoTT Member Posts: 487
Anyone in the US snooped around any 24 hour Walmart stores yet?  Curious if they’ll have these out just yet.

Ah, thanks- didn’t realize that.  I think this goes without saying, but we do still expect them in LEGO Store locations, right?
  • lentillentil Member Posts: 53
Urgh, I just ordered 4 of the sets (no train yet) on [email protected], backordered for a month. If I had realized I could just pop by Target this morning and get them right away would have done that... oh well, I did get the double VIP I guess.

We are very excited for these! Really can't way to get a peek at the big D2C castle... any rumors about that flying around that I've missed? :-)
  • ecmo47ecmo47 Member Posts: 2,101

This ad in the Sunday paper would give some credence to the  1 month exclusive rumor.
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
I can understand one month exclusive, but why on earth state on the Lego website they are available starting July 1, if they were never going to be? I am still debating on whether to keep my order with double VIP points, or cancel and run to my local Target and grab them. Since most are going to be a Christmas present anyway, I might just wait.
  • kbwkbw Member Posts: 421
If they are Christmas presents, might as well sit tight and get the double VIP. I don’t know how much you bought, but that could be $20 in future savings. In my experience, most of the things that have been backordered are filled quicker than stated at time of purchase - not always but usually

Website says no, and I have been to two this morning to no avail.

For what it’s worth, my Lego store isn’t open yet, but I’m outside and no sign of any of the HP sets inside.

Yup.  I went all in on HP. Keeping my order is what I will most likely do. The brickheadz will ship early.

It is just that that I was hoping to stagger things a bit more. Payment towards most of HP this month. Ninjago docks and minifigs next month. Large HP set in the fall. Porg somewhere in there...  I may end up postponing the docks a little bit, since that set is for me.

Just snagged one each minus the Brickheadz at my local LEGO store!  Lots of folks lined up. They limited each set to one per person. Glad to have gotten the train. Wasn’t expecting to see it.

'Retail Exclusive' has still generally meant that the sets were available on [email protected]  (Unless sold-out, of course.)
