There are rumours going around for a new wave of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beast sets to be released later this year.

Set List:
#75950 Aragog in the Forbidden Forest - $14.99
#75951 Newt Scamander's Briefcase - $24.99
#75952 Unknown Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald Set - $29.99
#75953 Ford Anglia Escape - $69.99
#75954 Hogwarts Great Hall - $89.99
#71043 Hogwarts Castle - $500
*Not official set names, just descriptions*

There's also rumours of a $500 Hogwarts Castle and a CMF wave; make of that what you will.
Sigh

Not a Harry Potter fan..but a rumoured castle is a castle all the same...even one at that price...maybe!

Could always sell on the minifigs to offset the cost a little

At $500 it better be more than a facade like the Disney Castle. It needs to be complete at that price.

Ford Anglia Escape!! Hoo boy, sign me up.

  • SapmiSatanSapmiSatan Member Posts: 106
Apparently the Ford Anglia set will feature the Whomping Willow, and I've seen it described as film 2/3. Could it feature both the car and the minifigs from the climax of the third film? Seven minifigs (Harry, Ron, Hermione, Snape, Lupin, Sirius and Wormtail) would be reasonable for 70$.

I doubt LEGO would make a licensed set with 7 figs for only $70.  The $500 castle interests me because for that price you should get a fair number of figures with it.

I am just beyond thrilled with the sheer possibility of any HP, but in particular a large D2C set.
  • SapmiSatanSapmiSatan Member Posts: 106
@madforLEGO Ok, maybe not all seven in the set. Maybe five in the set and the rest in the minifigure series. Speaking of the minifigure series, I hope there's a dementor, Umbridge, Quirrel, Lockhart, Tonks and Mad-Eye Moody in addition to the Harry, Ron and Hermione variants. Oh, and Luna with her lion's head hat is a must!

Considering the first foray into the 'Wizarding World' made $800M+ worldwide at the box office, nobody should be surprised at a JW or LotR sized deal.  (Or even an Angry Birds.)

But LEGO really hedged their bets by not coordinating the reintroduction of the theme with the first movie.

Their market is probably different than the dinosaur-heavy JW, but HP was always a good seller.  (Maybe some Hobbit hesitancy?)

Leaked descriptions from a reliable source on Instagram.

^^Bummer - seems all the school uniforms will be Gryffindor & Slytherin again. Has anyone checked out the custom printed Ravenclaw & Hufflepuff torsos from minifigs.me? Perhaps this will be an option to get all of the houses? I'd much prefer official stuff of course.

I am also hoping the we get minifigures of Jacob & Queenie with the FB sets. Both characters seem to be returning for the sequel.

Im so excited for some HP Collectible minifigs! My three dream figures in it would have to be Moaning Myrtle, Quirrell, And Prof. Slughorn.

Any idea on a rough UK price? The pricing has been off lately; for example the ship in a bottle, so I dread to think of how much i'd have to pay to get them all :D

Something seems a bit off with these, The prices don't seem right, not just the great hall but the crimes of grindalwald set, $30 for a large mechanism, new trans parts and 4 minifigs? Hope so but unlikely

with the large D2C set and the CMF series there HAVE to be some ravenclaw and hufflepuff figs, no?

I really hope so, it's so frustrating that so many years later they are still absent from the Harry Potter line. Fingers crossed they put them in the CMF series as then I can have a whole army of Ravenclaws :D

I'm really interested in the Castle set, but wow that price is high. I hope it's going to be more than what we got with the Disney Castle.
And I'm a bit bummed that it's just going to be Slytherin and Gryffindor again. I would also like to see some Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw stuff in there.

Not really into HP, but since there are no castles out there I might get the Hogwarts Hall set. If there are 14 minifigs in the set, it's too good of a deal.
  • mnbvcmnbvc Member Posts: 143
I am trying to temper my excitement with a healthy dose of scepticism.

I desperately want this to be true, but...
  • FizyxFizyx Member Posts: 1,359
The one thing that has kept me from buying in on this 100% is the 14 minifigs for the Great Hall set.  14 in a set for 90$?  That seems crazy!  I admit, it's likely the rest of the hall is not that brick heavy, probably some tables and the teachers dais or something, but still, 14 seems like too many, especially considering the solid rumors of the HP CMF line for later this year.

I hope it's right, but it's just hard for me to believe.

I can't see there being 14 minifigs in a licensed $90 set. 14 CMFs in the US would cost $56.
Guessing the 500 USD Castle has the 14 characters.

Seems more likely, wish they could swap out Filch and the dementors for other teachers though :)
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
Right. That was my immediate assumption when reading. (That these are the Castle minifigs...That or these are the CMFs. ) They are not going to have 14 minifigs and a significant build in a set below $100.

I am just thrilled we are getting HP!!!!
I told my one kid. These were an instant Christmas and bday request.

It's funny because, unless the castle build itself was super amazing, I think I'd be a little disappointed if that set ONLY had 14 figures... It would be like "the Ninjago City set has SIXTEEN figures and costs 200$ less, come on now LEGO!" :P

(I kid, I kid.  Having missed all the previous HP sets due to dark ages, I will take basically any and all HP Minifigs I can get :D )

The modulars have only 5-6 minifigures and the Disney Castle has also only 5, so this could also be the case, especially when there is a whole Harry Potter CMF wave (the same thing with the Disney Castle and the Simpsons House)

Now I will have to start saving for the Castle.
The price of the Hogwarts Castle - 485€ doesn't equal 500$ so mabye they will lower the Euro price :/ [But I don't think they will. Almost all lincenced sets have a 1:1 exchange rate. I don't really know why they do, but this is how it is...]
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
@dawid Keep in mind that the quoted EUR prices always includes VAT, in contrast to the USD ones which never include the local sales taxes.

Let's assume that EUR 485 will be the German price, so excluding their 19% VAT that's approximately EUR 408. At today's FX rate that makes USD 499.

So if the rumoured prices are accurate, this set would actually cost approximately the same on both sides of the Atlantic. Not that this is always the case...

This is a dream come true for me as I was in the deep slumber of the dark ages during the original HP sets. I gave up after cobbling together a few sets from EBay for $$$. Sad to say these new sets with the D2C and minifig series for $700ish is a deal.

Now who wants to bet the whomping willow and the great hall connect to the castle?

I won't be making the same mistake I've made with all the other LEGO Harry Potter sets released between 2001-2011, they've all pretty much tripled or gone higher in value.

I'll be purchasing every single J. K. Rowling's Wizarding World products that LEGO releases between 2018 and beyond. Might even pick up extras and an entire box of Collectable Minifigures too. I made sure I picked up both Fantastic Beasts packs that were released in 2016 several months ago.

    (i) That was before LEGO reselling really took off (although the tail end was) and (ii) they weren't redone when the LEGO boom happened.

Agreed. I don't have the Hogwarts Express, but have had it on my "wish list". So a new, motorized one would make me happy.

I’m going to say I don’t believe that list at all. Given that the ghosts barely featured in the films I can’t imagine slots going to the Bloody Baron and fat friar.

Very disappointed :( No Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff uniforms.

Also confused about the ghost additions, I would have thought the minifigures would be more well know characters. I know some people want the obscure ones but there's no Voldemort, Luna, Neville, Hagrid, Dobby etc.

They did give us a Peeves minifigure though, and he wasn't in the movies at all.

Well, there are plenty of Wizarding World minifigures who have only appeared in Lego Harry Potter 1 and 2 and Dimensions.
