I love history, but US Presidents are my forte. Grover Cleveland always messes with people. I love medival history as well. When I was in England visiting @Legoboy , I saw a bunch of stuff, but I also did a lot of reading, so I could learn as much as I could.

Pitfall: "James, where's Henry VIII buried?"
James: "You're standing on top of him you tw*t!!!"

    Great times :)

How about some more spoof (clearly ripped-off) ones?
    1. Surely Bassey - "sequined" lounge singer
    2. Time Travelling Robot Killer Assassin man (in leathers)
    3. Diamond pattern Clown
    4. Female Aviator
    5. Wheelchair President
    6. Silent Movie Guy
    7. Brute Lee - Martial Arts Expert
    8. Dickensian Ghost Story Guy
    9. Crazy Dog Costume Guy
    10. Crazy Elephant Costume Guy
    11. Crazy Orangutan Costume Guy
    12. Crazy Lion Costume Guy (Tra-La La, La La-la-lah)
    13. Ancient Greek Thinker
    14. 60s TV Sci-Fi Spaceship Captain
    15. Genoa Starling - Wartime Nurse
    16. Stealth Test Pilot
    17. Red-haired orphan girl
    18. Shouty Chef
    19. Brent Westforest - Spaghetti Cowboy
    20. Magical Nanny
    21. Wallyiam - striped jumper guy - the chase figure, one in a box... gets released in a book six months later.

Genoa Starling was my fave; very clever. Wallyiam and Brent Westforest are excellent too. Some parody figs would definitely not go amiss.

Might be nice if another Disney series moved into more obscure "Toontown" territory. A Goofy fig seems pretty essential, but it might be nice to get the likes of:

    • Clarabelle Cow
    • Horace Horsecollar
    • Oswald the Lucky Rabbit
    • Ortensia the Cat
    • Panchito Pistoles
    • Jose Carioca
    • Mortimer Mouse
    • Pete (though he's probably big fig material so unlikely to show up in a CMF)

^Most of those Disney characters have been featured in recent Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or Mickey and the Roadster Racers programs.

We should go for Gladstone then. He was a four (non-consecutive) time Prime Minister. And no skeletons in his closet. Apart from all the slaves.

I know, but they're still less well-known that Mickey, Donald, and their girls.

Sorry to raise this thread from the grave, but it appears that OYO sports has gone out of business after losing several licenses. Do y'all think LEGO might be pursuing those for CMFs or a revival of LEGO Sports?

@mdtvandy It's not really raising from the grave; six months isn't too bad. It's when you dig up a thread that's two years or more older that you get nailed for necromancy.

Who wouldn't enjoy another round of NBA springy-butts minifigs?

I want me a Kevin Durant with some TS3-Woody length legs.  And a Kyrie Irving that comes with a Flat Earth accessory.

It would be fun if they did a Tokyo Olympics series. Especially if they made it where you could mix and match nationalities and gear to be whatever you wish.

The problem with any sports competition is getting permissions from all the teams / associations. Team GB was just the British Olympic Association and not The Olympics 2012 in general, which is why only British athletes were featured. Same with the German DFB football series. To get agreement from all associations is unlikely, which is probably why LEGO have stuck with one in the recent past.

And if they do NBA, then why not Premier League, or Serie A, or La Liga,  or Bundesliga, or MLB, or NFL, or IPL, or NHL, or CSL, ... These are all huge leagues but I wonder if the market is really there. (Non-LEGO) fans might want some figures from their team(s), but would they want all teams? Would they sell more than regular CMFs that they would probably replace?
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,729
^true, I was thinking they could do generic mix of skintone, hair/helmets, uniform colors. But that would probably be too bland.

At least as an Arsenal fan I can look at my Ozil and Mustafi German footballer cmfs and shake my head sadly at them.

I can only imagine the level of payola that would have to occur to get that license.

I'm not sure there is a 'unified' or universal market for Olympics stuff and/or local professional sports teams.

By example, MLB (baseball) in the US has become increasingly regional and fails to garner national popularity.  Other than perhaps the Yankees and Dodgers, there isn't a national 'baseball' market that would be conducive to mass-production.  And given that LEGO has backtracked on regional sets, I doubt a niche market regional set would be high on the list.

But... NBA Basketball is pretty big in China, and have more universal star appeal.  So who knows.  Maybe a springy-leg LeBron James can lineup against my springy-leg Allen Iverson.

I think it's high time we had NHL minifigs. Just one for each team in the league. When it's a smash success (as it absolutely will be, fyi), they can do a second series with their away uniforms.

I'd love to see an NFL set. but i'd probably be impossible to "feel" for the ones you need to fill out a complete lineup.

The Pats would be easy enough. Just feel for the flat ball.

Yeah, I cannot really image Manchester City fans displaying Man Utd or Liverpool minifigures. They would probably just be used for making youtube videos where the figures get destroyed.

might be cool to get enough players for the Clutchers and Stackers baseball teams, but not really suited to a CMF line. I have soccer and basketball sets, not sure baseball or football would translate well as a Lego set.

And yet we do have the UCS Old Trafford rumored for next year. If there is any merit to it remains to be seen.

There's a lot of characters/names on here I've never heard of!
CCC posted Rab C Nesbitt clips so I might have to try and make my own custom Rab now, a bag of chips would top it off nicely if possible. Plus if we had Gladstone we'd have to have Disraeli too.

It took way too long and the lockdown didn't help but finally got it! Hopefully beat those points and win totals now. I need to add another star after the CL last year but it should be a lot easier than adding the dragon was.

^ Is the dragon a Welsh link ? Yeah it’s been weird not celebrating properly especially after all these years, I was 11 last time we won the title. At least we can relax for the rest of the season and maybe see more of the likes of Jones and Williams.

keeping this on topic can we have a line of Liverpool CMFs please with a premier league trophy for Klopp to hold. Yes I know it would be fairly local interest despite a worldwide fan base but it would give everyone some figs to put next to the Lego old Trafford 😉

I've been wanting a CMF Orchestra. I'd make all the torsos gender neutral and include a female and male head/hair in every pack. You could buy multiples to build a large Orchestra or just a few to make a String Quartet.
    1. Conductor
    2. Violin
    3. Cello
    4. Oboe
    5. Flute
    6. English/French Horn
    7. Harp
    8. Percussion/drums
    9. Clarinet
    10. Bassoon
    11. Bass
    12. Tuba
    13. Trumpet
    14. Trombone
    15. Percussion/vibraphone
    16. Cannon

Hey! Violin, cello, bass, but no viola? Okay, I realize that at minifigs scale, the difference between a violin and a viola would be miniscule, but still!

They have a cannon in an orchestra, and they play in a theater? I had no idea classical music could be so much fun. I can't imagine many places would want them to play inside.

I'm Welsh but far from home these days. I'd totally snap up an LFC minifig series (plus series 2 of historic players 😉) and an Anfield set to go with them. I'm hoping there are plans for an Anfield and they're just waiting for the next stand expansion to be completed first.
