Brickset API change requests, Take 2?

RexfelisRexfelis Member Posts: 32
So...I'm hoping now that winter is setting in (for those of us in the North) that maybe someone has time for some API updates? pretty please?

Here's the current list, so I can (hopefully) get closer to what shows on the web:
1. Additional fields in <sets> (for both getSets and getSet): ageRange, userRating, weight, tags, set type, Brickset notes?
2. Service/endpoint for setting user rating
3. Service/endpoint for adding a review
4. Service(s) for displaying/editing a users’ profile

#1 and #2 would especially be appreciated.

Thanks!

Can I...volunteer to make the changes myself?

Rather than posting on the forum, you might want to try contacting the site owner directly, using the contact options on the main website.

That would seem to me to be a more obvious and professional way of doing things.

Sorry, this isn't a priority right now, so it's still on the to-do list.

I should however be able to do #1 fairly quickly.

there is something very annoying, when you try posting a comment in news, that if someone adds a new comment before you, your comment doesn't get posted (which happens nearly everytime, because by the time I have read the news, the comments and typed mine, there has been plenty of time for other people to post comments too)

I’ve had this happen a few times - I’ve started copying my finished comment before clicking submit in case it gets wiped out, so it’s easier to quickly recreate if necessary.

I wish I would always remember to do that before clicking submit

Cool. Thanks for the update! Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Also @PeteM - if you use Firefox, you might like this:

It would be better if the site wouldn't eat your comment though :/ I had it yesterday as well. Sometimes I feel like retyping, sometimes I don't...

the funny thing is the forum actually saves what you type.

I've no doubt this occurs sometimes judging by the number who experience it but I've never experienced it personally, and I can think of only circumstance when it would occur: if you spend 20 minutes viewing the page and typing and your session has timed out. Could that be the problem here?
  • FauchFauch Member Posts: 2,662
could be, takes a while to check all the comments sometimes
  • sid3windrsid3windr Member Posts: 1,460
Yep, sometimes I also open the page and do other stuff, then read it through, and the comments, then write one myself (without refreshing first). So that does sound like a plausible reason.

I'm not sure if this would be an easy thing to add but the set dateAdded would be helpful, as well as the ability to sort by that date on getSets/getSet.  An alternative could be something like getRecentlyAddSets (same as getRecentlyUpdatedSets but using the added date).  It looks like the query is already used on https://brickset.com/sets/order-dateadded?query=*

    Thanks in advance
