For Sale: Massive collection. Sorted. Los Angeles

robotsinloverobotsinlove Member Posts: 11
Hello everyone. Begrudgingly selling my entire collection. I estimate over 200,000 parts. 99% of the bricks are in excellent to like-new condition. I will ONLY be selling these as one lot and will not break it up.

They are all sorted in some way. Most of them are sorted by color, then type, then part. Some are sorted by just color and type, and some only by color. Available to anyone that is able to pick up in the Downtown Los Angeles area. More photos available upon request.

    Is there an asking price?

It is difficult to say. I need a local buyer because the person buying would need to come to inspect and a deal be struck based on looking through everything. There is so much. Based on the average brick price for new and used on a site like Bricklink, I estimate the value around $12,000.

Do you have also instructions ? If so, could you list at least some of the high value sets ?

Is the estimated value based on individual brick values or originating set values ?

Are these pictures the entire collection? If not, do you have pictures posted? If not, when would I be able to view the collection. I am local.

Shame you're not splitting. Thise minifigure parts look tempting.

Ergh. I think you're going to be hard pressed to get someone to fork over that much money.

There are all kinds of collectors/buyers in this world. Let’s let the individual try to sell theirs and not comment in public about the feasibility of an actual sale. Who in the world knows what will happen in the end.

Best of luck, @robotsinlove. If I didn’t live on the other side of the country, I’d definitely come take a look.

Looks like a well loved collection. There is no way you will have any success with that starting price.
You need to detach yourself from your loved plastic and be reasonable. You say "like new", that is the same as used to a buyer. Lower your expectations, and then lower them some more, and start looking up large bricklink sellers in your state, that is your best bet to unload it all at once.

    Good Luck

Hi Dawn. No instructions except for the Brick Bank and the later Sopwith set. (and their boxes). Value is based on bricks, not sets.

Hello Brian. The pictures are of the entire collection although it is difficult to tell the size and amount. I will be taking more photos that better show what is there. Or I'd be happy to set up a viewing sometime next week.

Thanks. That was an estimate, not an asking price. I've never sold my LEGO before hence the part about having potential buyers come out, look at it all, and figure out a price in person. ;)
