That's funny, because I was just thinking that I kind of liked the stairs next to each other. Breaks up the line of the buildings without having a sheer wall on one side. I do have to admit though, even though I love the Diner, and even like the stairs/left side of it, they are rather awkward next to most of the other buildings. Maybe they have something up their sleeve for the 2019 building that will work better? (Let the rumors fly! :P )
Psh, I called that ages ago! Modular Japanese style parking garage with power functions!
(I joke... but if it was a compelling build with good figures I would still jump on it. Every city's got to have some parking! :P )
I think they look quite good next to each other, but the simpsons cars look a bit too ‘blocky’ compared to the pink Cadillac
The kids had a blast driving the train and watching the Ferris wheel go around the track. Even the adults were impressed by the buildings and scope of the display. I only wished I had remembered to bring the newly built Diner and had more time to properly display and layout the buildings, figures and vehicles.
I put signs around the table to “Do Not Touch”, and “Hands Off” like the Lego Movie basement scene as a joke, but the kids couldnt help themselves and played with the train and fairground sets. Nothing broke or was lost (as far as I can tell). Everyone was respectful.
The questions I was asked most were “Did you build all this?”, “How long did it take you?”, “Are you a Master Builder?”, “Do you like Lego?”...
It’s rare to get the opportunity to display one’s Lego collection, but I’m thankful to bring joy to some kids and adults for a few hours.
I also regret not taking any pictures, but managed to get a picture from one of the parents. :(
(But I haven't come across 2x2 black tiles with a matte finish.)
