Just wanted to say hi! Started collecting sets about a few weeks ago, so I'm really new to this. I'm currently only focusing on the smaller Star Wars sets, have about 6 so far. I'm starting off slowly and trying not to spend too much...it's really hard though when I see so many good deals to be had in the USA, and over here there's like...nothing. I'm sure I'll find myself a good deal someday!
I'm so annoyed at myself because I missed out on some great sets from one of my favourite books/films: Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. If I was around at the time, I definitely would've snapped up 79003 An Unexpected Gathering, 79012 Mirkwood Elf Army (love the elves) 79006 The Council of Elrond. Maybe I'll just collect all my favourite mini figures or something haha! Guess I'll have to stick around and make sure I don't miss out on anything good from the new Star Wars films then!
Anyway, it's nice to meet you all!

Be patient, UK deals will come - I've restricted my Lego buying quite a lot this year for various reasons but part of it was knowing that the months running up to Christmas tend to have the best discounts so best to wait. I really, really hope that proves to be the case again this year!
Council of Elrond was a lovely set, hope you can maybe pick some LotR /Hobbit stuff up cheaply from ebay.
Collecting Star Wars is a slippery slope. That's all I will say in that respect!
Haha, yeah and being on Amazon Prime certainly doesn't help when it comes to buying. At the moment I'm only interested in Star Wars and I know exactly what sets I want so hopefully I won't spend too much!
Thanks for the advice!
Be judicious in what you buy. It's really easy, when you get back into Lego, to look around, see lots of cools sets/themes and suddenly want everything. Which, as Lost says, can be a slippery slope.
Pick some things you really like and then enjoy the hunt for bargains. It can be as much fun as the build itself.
And keep an eye on Brickset - people often post details of great deals.
Yeah that's exactly how I feel, I want everything! I whittled my wishlist down to a manageable size and now I'm just waiting for the big sets to go down in price a bit.
This is all very good advice, thank you so much!
pm'd you about LOTR/Hobbit stuff!
