Anyone go in to build the red brick in store build?  If you did, do you know what the slot/opening on the side of the brick is for?  The store working ay my store wasn't sure either.

^it's for the Automatic Binding Bricks from yesteryear. I guess that is how they were designed in the 1940s. Someone said so in the article on Brickset.

Ah, I think you are correct.  The lego employee thought it might supposed to be a mini bank and the gap is the coin slot.

Stopped over by the LEGO store in the mall (Schaumburg IL store), but not much there. Pretty much no PaB and while they had some nice pieces in the BaM (like the chocolate cake costume) it seems sans Knight figures... and unfortunately they were out of the parts for the brick model already...

I built the red brick from instructions posted by The Brick Fan and you could actually use it as a bank because the slot is big enough for coins and the interior is hollow. Wouldn't really hold much money unless you were depositing real gold coins.

The employee at my store said they thought it could be used for holding up a photo.  That could've made sense if they let you build 2...

To be fair to you, I was talking about the employee :)

Went to the LEGO store in the Schaumburg Mall (IL). They have the #10497 Galaxy Explorer and  #10305 Lion Knight's Castle in stock, along with the #40499 Santa's Sleigh (I mention that as its not found on the site at this time). They also have the VIP Pirate packs as GWP for whatever the threshold is (I easily blew past it today). No new BaM parts yet. Also found some good parts at the PaB wall. Some notable parts are:
-1x6x5 window frame (no windows, no doors, did not buy)
    And these:

and the curved dual panel window part (and they have the 'glass') (also a better pic of the 3 leaf stem piece):
The LDC over in Schaumburg also had the new LEGO store in stock for purchase (thought it was the other one for a moment when I saw the box):

$37 though (guessing a couple of dollars more expensive maybe than at a regular LEGO store? Not sure).. They had a couple of the Hogwarts Castle polys with Dumbledore but not many other polys.

Wish I could find those palm leaves in a PAB wall.  I also need those 1x6x5 window frames as I've already amassed a bunch of the 1x3 door panels.  I've also stocked up on the small window panels so would like to find the curved frames.  I think I did get some once and I've ordered some of the other colors online.  I  always pass on those tap handles because I  have quite the stock pile from spares although they would be good to hang lamps and such.  I'd be more inclined to grab some if they were black.  Hopefully my store will have some good parts when I visit in two weeks.

I received an email from TLG that #40558 was back in stock. So I promptly go to order it, but it’s temporary out of stock:(  I got the email at 7:52am and tried to order around 9:30am.

Currently hunting the Obi Wan and Vader Brickheadz. Never thought they'd be out of stock when others released before them are still available. Hoping they come back as I'd hate to have to pay double MSRP...

I don't think they are on the retire list for this year, or at least I haven't seen them there yet.  That's promising, at least.  Missed them myself as well, so I'm definitely hoping its promising, at least :P

I’m pretty sure they will come back. The Buzz Lightyear Brickheadz was out of stock for a long time and now has been back in stock for awhile. The same thing for the Chip & Dale, which is now back in stock. I think they have just been slow to restock after the big rush when they first go on sale.

Thanks for the reassurance @fizy and @rraider, I'll hold off on buying on on the aftermarket for now. This is currently the only standard release BHz set I want that I don't own. Can't have gaps in the collection after all!

Hard-to-find sets I saw at the Mall of America LEGO store today: #40499 Santa's Sleigh, #75342 Republic Fighter Tank, #40521 Mini Disney Haunted Mansion.

They still have the Pirates VIP parts pack... I now have three!

Reposting here from another thread I posted in earlier so others can see.

Just looked on the Lego website to see if there is anything happening in local stores & it says: "Get the Moving Truck gift with LEGO® purchases over $180, valid 2/21/23-3/3/23 while supplies last."

They are also showing the new Friends Skate Ramp Model #30633 as an instore build event: "LEGO® Friends Skate Ramp build model will be available on a first come first served basis.  While supplies last.
LEGO® Friends Skate Ramp build model offer valid on 2/22/23 and 2/23/23 only.
Limited to one LEGO® Friends Skate Ramp build per person.
LEGO® Friends Skate Ramp build model cannot be purchased."
It says it will be available while supplies last 5-6PM each day for my local store.
