^^Only took 2 years for that penguin to show up in the US, I'll definitely have to get to a Lego Store for that

I hope I get the offer in the mail.  Guess I should have gone for the In Store VIP $5 & $20 redemption offers but I had no plans to venture to the LEGO stores in the next 30 days.  I really don't want to be going to the Malls these days with both of the LEGO stores being in Covid Level Red counties.

Was just at a LEGO Store and they have the penguin or banana Minifigures in. Unfortunately I didn't get my coupon yet, so they won't give them out.

Still waiting for the coupon here too.  My nearest store is 1-1/2 hours away so not making a trip without having the coupon in hand.

Gingerbread House was briefly in stock this morning so I ordered one and qualified for the rink. Then I immediately got an email saying the item was not in stock, but would ship in 60 days. At least I think I got a skating rink though. Who knows. My order from 2 weeks ago still does not show any tracking.

I haven't received a card yet. I happened to be at my LEGO Store on Friday night and was speaking with the manager who said that they are not being sent to everyone. Rather, just some VIP members. Go figure.

I'd love to add the Penguin to my Have List.

Considering the amount of money I've spent on LEGO this year I'm a bit peeved I  haven't received one.  Maybe they are going by in-store purchases?

Or maybe the opposite?  I don't remember the last time I've purchased in-store but I received one of those cards last week.

It’s like when they mailed out that free chrome Valentine’s VIP keychain a few years ago ... I received one but some others didn’t, and it wasn’t entirely clear what the criteria was... maybe there is a secret handshake? 😉

    January 2021 calendar is out:

Definitely the best value for GWP will be $85, of which at least $75 is Harry Potter. That would get you the vintage car and the Monster Book of Monsters. I believe 3 of the new "Hogwarts Moments" books would get that.

I still have to use a voucher code for the metal brick, so I will be hoping S@H starts getting some sets back in stock early in January. I'm weighing whether to just go on and buy one of the new 2021 sets on the 1st, but I'm generally loathe to buy sets right at release instead of waiting a little while for possible discounts to pop up.

To me, the fine print on the GWP offers sounds like they may not stack, but the verbiage is slightly different for the fire helicopter and police waterscooter offer, in that it actually says cannot be combined with any other free gift.

If you go to the store they typically stack them... Typically. I guess Ill be getting the Police station modular to get the Ideas car then.

Stores seem to only do that when there's really limited supply.

Picked up the Police Station modular and the new Mandalorian set along with the GWP car this morning at my local Lego store. They seemed to have a good supply of all new sets, and they were limiting new stuff to two sets per person (family).

I was in a no win scenario: The weather was supposed to be bad so theoretically no one would be at the mall, but driving there would be interesting. But then it was not bad, but that also meant it was not bad for others meaning I would have wound up standing in line to get the sets. With Free shipping (and a slightly less tax compared to where the store is) I opted to just buy online.

New April  store calendar has been posted for U.S.  Continuation of the two Easter GWP's through April 5.  Then nothing til the end of the Month when they will offer the Dots picture frame polybag from last year again.  So unless there is an unannounced surprise coming it's going to be a long wait for any good promos.

I had a online conversation about my Spring Festival 60day backorder and the 2 free GWP that were to come with it.  He said I should get them both...that they've set aside the Amelia Earhart GWP for backorders and have plenty of the Easter Bunny House to last awhile.
So it sounds as if the Easter Bunny House will be the GWP for awhile.

I’ll second that!  Also, FWIW, our local store had a pile of the Monster Book of Monsters GWP stacked 4 feet high and 8 feet long, so looks like they made plenty of those as well.  Glad I worked so hard to get one from Barnes and Noble back last December...

Yeah... since B&N has done basically everything in their power to dissuade me from shopping there, including horribly botching every special promotion/GWP that I've tried to get in the past 3-4 years, I think I'm just done with them tbh.  I used to use them as an alternative for Amazon for books at the very least, but man they are just miserable.  I suppose if someone posts about an amazing sale I might check it out, but outside of that I don't think I'll even try to get any of the supposed exclusives or GWPs from them any more, since I'll probably be able to get it easier and cheaper somewhere else AND have the added benefit of not having to shop at B&N.

Visited my 'local' LEGO store (Schaumburg IL) and it appears they are getting closer to getting back to normal. The build a figure cubes are back on the floor, but with polys in their holes right now. It sounds like once the restrictions are lifted the bins will be filled with LEGO figure parts again. Pick a brick 'board' to select parts from is now in one of the build windows on the shelves near the PaB wall, but nothing really of note unfortunately. The handful of BaM pre built packs are of the Eater series from last season (brown bunny suit, Flower suit, and butterfly winged girl). They did have the new Spiderman Venom figure packs in stock as well as some of the new Xtra packs. Apparently the VIP points are tied to the cards again where you can tell the employee how much you want to put to the bill before payment (so it looks like its not going to rely so heavily on the VIP vouchers from S@H).
The local LDC is pretty much cleared out of stock, they look like they are going out of business but when I overheard another customer asking that the manager/owner said they are not, its just they got blitzed during spring break in the area and are fairly cleared out.

I’m not sure if there was any formal announcement made but the final day of retail business at Rockefeller Center store was March 28 (Sunday). This store was located right above the skating rink. There is a brand new store now one block over and next to the Atlas Statue on 5th Ave. which is across from the St Patrick’s Cathedral. The grand opening hasn’t been announced to the best of my knowledge but it is open for retail sales and limited to curbside pickup. In-store shipping is not an option. The new location looks to be 3x the footprint of the original one. I will provide more information as it becomes available. I apologize if this has been reported already.

Good news for them.  That location was cool but it was always such a pain walking around inside the cramped store and even worse outside, especially with the summer and holiday crowds.

LEGO store in Schaumburg IL (In Woodfield mall) had the new Friends apt set,  and stocked pretty well (have the mods in stock, including Assembly Square). I beleive masks are still mandatory in store, and also you can select parts from PaB again. However only one person (or maybe 2 if together) to pick parts, have to use scoops and a few minutes between people selecting parts to wait to have the scoops sanitized and you have to use hand sanitizer before using a scoop (cannot touch the parts, if you do they have to shut down the PaB wall for 3 days). Honestly I love the fact that little kids cannot get over there just to run their grubby little hands through the part bins with parents ignorantly unaware. Its the first time I have gotten PaB where I can sort the parts at home and not feel like I need to wash my hands for 10 minutes after...
Intersting parts Turquoise 1x1 brick, 2x2 quarter circle Dk red tile, 1x6 sand green brick. Fairly basic unfortunately, but still picked up some parts since I was there.
BaM still is figured pre-built into packs, but they have a nice selection (including the new blue dog suit). Unfortunately I do not think there is a set date as to when the BaM bar will be as it was before Covid.

I was dying to sneak behind the ropes at Disney Springs to dig through their BAM tower.  They had one of them still filled with parts behind the counter in front of the PAB wall.  I may need to head down to the Denver area Lego stores soon to see what they are doing with their PAB.  After all my Birthday is in a few weeks so I deserve it.

Haven't been to Colorado Mills lately, but was at Park Meadows yesterday. That one still has the same old stuff with the menu there. They really haven't updated anything and when I asked about it they weren't sure when they would open PAB or BAM.

So I called my store late Friday to reserve/buy a Daily Bugle but they wouldn’t do so since there wasn’t enough time to pick it up same day.  They said they had plenty and to call back this morning. I call back this morning and they were all gone.  I was then put on a store list and was advised that I’d be called when they come back in.  I know, however, that stores are holding back some stock for release day so I ask her to reconfirm if I can possibly expect a callback on Tuesday.  She went and double checked and then advised that any available units on Tuesday would only be for in store.  Lol / Sigh.

Took the kids there anyway and we all found something to get.  But during checkout, the employee asked to split the purchase into 2 transactions then later gave the “please complete the survey” spiel on each.  Was he gaming their review/bonus system?  I was given a “register is finicky and don’t want to risk messing it up.”...

The next time there's a "spend $$$ or more" GWP promotion and you purchase a single set that more than doubles that threshold, you should also tell the cashier, "I heard your registers are finicky so can you split the purchase price across 2 separate receipts?  Oh, it looks like I qualify for 2 gifts now!"

It seems to me that if the "register is finicky", doing two sales would make it more likely to have a problem, not less.

Sounds like the store has a certain number of transactions they have/want to meet...maybe a number set by management or corporate.

I feel strongly it was BS but there weren’t any downsides for me that’s I could tell outside of the bank getting concerned about multiple high-ish dollar transactions back to back at the same place...

Funny, usually the store I go to would not allow (or at least endorse usage of) the multiple purchases as it would mean possibly sneaking around LEGO's promo limits of one per purchase.
Sounds like they may be asking for a handout.. The interesting thing they probably did not think of, is you could always note the register 'issue' on both surveys and double ding them for their efforts! I mean if their register is really having a problem, maybe that needs to be brought up to corporate anyway.
The serious thing here though is LEGO DOES review those surveys and does reward the stores/employees with good surveys and does take the negative feedback seriously as well.

According to TBF via the LEGO Ambassador Network, #40490 will be sold in July.

“ Whatever remaining stock there is left over from June in stores will be sold at full price starting on July 1 worldwide at LEGO Brand Retail, Certified Stores, Merlin and on the LEGO Shop.”

LEGO Store in Woodfield mall has Build a minifigure back (all bins have their parts separated by type again right now)
PaB is a bit sparse, but among other parts, notably they do have tan Macaroni brick, With the 1x1 flourish/banister type brick, 1x2 White tile, Gray seats.
They do have it open for people to use, not employees (maybe because it was busy) but they still do ask you use sanitizer on your hands and use the scoop still.
