    Would love to build this. Any chance of a parts list in advance to give an indication of the cost of the parts?

    I don't think that it is specifically against the rules of the forum, but openly posting your email address is generally not a good idea. You should have people communicate with you via Personal Message (PM). Also, this type of post should be down in  "Marketplace".

    @drdavewatford: Move or edit?

    It is probably a good idea to give a price too.

    Can anybody post a bricklink wanted list for inventory of parts (I don't know how to) as the $10 cost does not include an inventory.

    Happy to remove his e-mail address if @brettcuv requests it.

    I'd assume you can generate a parts list from the LDD file.  Haven't used LDD myself, but I'm sure someone on here that has can confirm.

    @dmcc0 not in ldd directly. It has to be exported to BL (which is why I asked). I'm keen to buy but not without this.

    It's a great model. Sorry it didn't make it through to the next stage of development. I would have bought it straight away. I LOVE the Iron Giant, it's one of my favourite animated films.
    So much so I also did an Iron Giant about ten years ago and have wanted to update it for a long time. Most of the parts are available in light bluish grey now and when I did it they were only made in dark bluish grey.
    For anyone that wants them, the instructions are here, apologies for quality, there weren't the resources to produce slick instructions back then either. I also now know that some of the stuff I did is frowned upon, so please don't tell me off for the logo usages and box mock-up.
    Sorry to hijack your thread too Brett.

    @jonboy2000 a quick search on the forum suggests you can export to XML from LDD:  http://bricksetforum.com/discussion/1714/able-to-generate-inventory-from-ldd

    Reading your first post I'd assumed you had already bought it and were trying to generate the parts list.  Your second post suggests your in the same boat as I am: You don't want to part with any cash until you've checked how much the parts cost.

    Will there be a Ready Player One theme for the film's release next year?

    I was watching the trailer and couldn't help but see the potential because of the following points:
    The iron giant features in the film so possibly that is why it has been passed on by the Ideas review team.
    Warner brothers are releasing the film.
    The Delorean could get another release as this has been a popular set after retiring. The film could tie in to Dimensions nicely as both have a lot of 80s pop culture.
    There could be releases from TV/Film with a strong cult following that may not have the fanbase to warrant an individual IP such as Akira.
    The giant scorpion, A-Team van, monster truck all have potential to be sets.
    Is KITT in the trailer? That could be another set.
    The violence in the film appears to be only in the virtual world.

    Seems like a perfect chance for a theme that would allow a lot of fan pleasing releases.

    Last time I used LDD I could have it generate an Excel document with the parts. But that doesn't help you if you don't have the LDD file yet ;)

    I bought the LDD and created a wish list on Bricklink.  The parts are +/- $100 if you shop around a bit.

    I put it the wrong way round - should be $100 +/- .  Doesn't include postage though.

    @waynlewis I'm going to guess it's $10 :-)
