Last night while searching the Walmart clearance, as I seem to do every couple days, I found on of the Target Harry Potter polybags. When I scanned it nothing came up.

I took it to the front and the lady at the service counter would not sell it to me because it was not in their system. I offered her a quarter, but no go!

Good thing I already have about 10 sitting in a bag at home...
  • intromissionintromission Member Posts: 197
You should have bit the quarter to show her it was real.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
You could have told her that since it wasn't in the system, it must no belong to them ,s you would just tke it home... :)

Has anyone found series 5 on clearance at any Walmarts? I have been checking on them periodically at my local store since they had 14 open and mostly fun cases on the shelves. Checked again today and they were all gone but with an employee's help found them all in a clearance aisle. They were still ringing up full price and the same employee told me to check back February 1st, that they may be marked down then. That's a good two weeks away and a long time for them to be full price in the clearance section.

The Walmart in Stockton, CA had 2 boxes of Series 5 in the normal aisle yesterday, but they rang up at $2.00 each.
  • KottonKotton Member Posts: 55
They have been in the clearance section of my walmart since November always ring up full price though.
  • intromissionintromission Member Posts: 197
I would look for the minifigures at Target instead. They are 1.49 there.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
Went to a Walmart way in the outskirts today and picked up the Jedi Shuttle at $20 and London Escape at $10.50 -- go figure :P They had a lot of stock but it was not on sale.
  • canuhandle23canuhandle23 Member Posts: 104
i check every day for the series 5 minifigs and they still arent on sale. I mean there is about 7 boxes sitting on the clearance aisle...and i told the manager if they sold it to me for 1.50 I buy 3 boxes worth and still said no....lol
  • rocaorocao Administrator Posts: 4,290
Similar to what adol7 saw, at the one remaining Walmart in Sacramento that still has Series 5 CMFs, they are priced $2.00. They'll probably stay that way, too, since they have moved about 200 of them at that price.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
I think what is curious is the "clearance" stickers I see for wreaths & snowman at $3.47 as well as other items. Stickers say clearance but the prices are normal.

Think I know of like six Walmarts with a ton of stock. Guess I'm figuring I will just check each of them once a week and see if anything ever happens to it.
  • sonsofscevasonsofsceva Member Posts: 542
Keep in mind that a red tag does not mean clearance, but just that they no longer carry the item in the stockroom.

That said, I found an Assassin Droid battle pack on the shelf at my local WM for $5 yesterday. That was random.

Jus stopped at a Walmart I haven't been to yet in East Meadow, NY and they had the clearance section Lego ringing up at full price like everywhere else, with huge "50% off clearance" placards all over the aisle. The only thing worthwhile though are half a dozen 7930 gunships so I grab a manager and FINALLY they let me buy them at 50% off. Too bad it wasn't like some other locations that had much more stock.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
@pcirone Lol, guess all your haggling finally paid off :P
  • malachirobertsonmalachirobertson Member Posts: 268
Let me clarify, have people been finding the T-6 shuttle for $29.90 or about $20 or both?
  • pcironepcirone Member Posts: 346
I have not seen 7931 for less than $60. I have been to a lot of Walmarts.
  • scratchdeskscratchdesk Member Posts: 155
I got one at half off their retail price. Reason being:
Smaller WalMart store, they didn't have it on their shelf assignment to keep in stock. All lego (and other) items that were not going to be restocked were moved to a 50% off clearance section. This was the best run WalMart clearance area I had ever seen. Helpful customer service as well. They had to adjust every item I bought from them to knock the 50% off.

My advise... luck of the draw, hit small walmarts that could downsize inventory after the holidays.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
@malachirobertson Early on I never checked the T-6 Shuttle but at some point I started finding them at 30% off -- rarely however. Never bought them as I don't see the value. Then yesterday I found them for $20 exactly. So naturally at $20 I took em :P

Same store had London Escape at $10.50. Things are random and maybe as some have attested, it could be mistakes -- who knows.
  • canuhandle23canuhandle23 Member Posts: 104
finally my walmart has gone down to a 1.50 on the minifigs and they have hundreds of them. Finally got me a few.
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,335
I found 2 mini figure display cases (small) for $6 each. Not bad when TRU is selling the same thing for $18. Yes I said $18.
  • pcironepcirone Member Posts: 346
Can someone post the UPC for series 5 minifigs? I'd like to check stock at local stores and I can't find them by searching, and I don't own one :-)

Nothing extraordinary, but this is what I got today

    4840 HP burrow x4 $30
    4737 HP quidditch $10
7868 Mace Windu Jedi starfighter $20
    7188 King's carriage ambush x4 $20
8639 big bentley bust out $35
    8638 spy jet escape x2 $25

On as side note, there are piles of freeing Dobby at 50% off, didn't take any. Waiting for it to drop lower.

Got lucky today at a walmart that I go to frequently. Not sure why they suddenly put all the lego on sales, I been checking last couple of weeks, and nothing was on sale but today all on sale. here is what I got:
    7965 Millennium Falcon $70
    4842 Harry Potter castle $70
    2x 3368 City Rocket $35
    2x 7930 bounty hunter gunship $25
    7931 T-6 $25
    2x 4644 City marina $20
    4867 Hogwarts $20
    4738 Hargrids Hut $20

Also found a series 4 pack.
My advise, go check everyday. But again you never know. Happy hunting!!
  • scratchdeskscratchdesk Member Posts: 155
    @dk1007
Was that at a super Walmart or not? Just curious. I want a millennium falcon!
  • OdinduskOdindusk Member Posts: 763
It feels like some of you visit about 17 Targets/Walmarts on a daily basis to find a set for 50% off - the savings of which might offset the fuel and time spent on the hunt. =P

I totally understand the thrill of chasing a deal too, so I can't talk too much.

  • jocappyjocappy Member Posts: 207
Is the lightning McQueen ultimate build worth $15? passed today.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
@dk1007 what area? I have a few Walmarts I've been keeping an eye on as well. Guess you give me hope.
  • dk1007dk1007 Member Posts: 49
Is was not a super walmart. I though about the fuel, so I only go to my local store. I happen to be going to the Redbox and just stop by the clearance section, and there it was, the falcon on sale.

If any HP drops lower that 50%, and anyone would like to help me out, please send me a PM, or if you are able to, grab as much as you can carry, and then send me a PM. :o) Also still looking for Kingdoms as of my last post.
  • canuhandle23canuhandle23 Member Posts: 104
Well matthew. Is there any certain harry potter sets you are looking for that you want bellow 50%.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
Oh me too! If anyone else finds these Lego sets below 50% buy me as much as you can. I will also take Star Wars sets.
  • CoolsplashCoolsplash Member Posts: 935
I will buy 2 of each set if they are at 50% off. Harry Potter, Star Wars, City, POC. Do send me a PM anyone willing to help me out.

My local WM just re-stocked a bunch of sets that were previously at 50% off last week... however, they're all ringing up back at RRP. Anyone else run into this???
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
@vedder1029 ran into this yesterday at WM in San Diego. All of them wrang up at RRP and even had red stickers showing the same.
  • MatthewMatthew Administrator Posts: 3,714
@canuhandle23 Any really! They all contain useful parts (I'm working on a UCS Hogwarts).
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,335
My local WM had sets with red stickers showing the price and that was what they were ringing up at. They had Whitecap Bay for $59 but I passed. I would have gotten it for $40 or less.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
@Brickdancer which Walmart did you go into so I don't waste my time today?
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
WM on Aero Drive. Zero finds!
  • canuhandle23canuhandle23 Member Posts: 104

I found a store through their site that said it had the Star Wars Hoth Wampa Set 8089 and did in-store pickup from the site and they said they couldn't find it and cancelled the order... I was soo mad. I cant find a deal on that set anywhere!

If anyone has a spare SW T-6 Shuttle that they are willing to sell, please PM me. Thanks! (I am in the US)
  • malachirobertsonmalachirobertson Member Posts: 268
The Wal-Mart that I went to today had no new clearance stock. I saw no new discounts and I wonder if the time of discounts is over. What is the RRP for Freeing Dobby? I several but all at 10.97. That didn't sound like much of deal to me.
  • OdinduskOdindusk Member Posts: 763
My closest Walmart is all messed up right now as far as LEGO goes. They basically have taken all of the "old" stock off of the LEGO shelves to make room for 2012 sets, and tossed it all into the general clearance section of the store, even though all of it rings up at full price.

    Hot clearance.
  • pcironepcirone Member Posts: 346
^ Thats how most Long Island stores have been for a couple of weeks now. A manager explained to me that it's a clearance from the warehouses to the stores, not necessarily a true 'store clearance'.

I a new member here and was reading the posts, trying to gain some new knowledge on Legos and where to find the best deals.
I see a lot of the conversations are around the fact that some Walmarts have certain Legos on sale (clearance) and some don't.
Here's what my local super WalMart (in Iowa) told me. Each Walmart is different, we obviously knew that. I guess each Walmart is given a list of what items are to be clearanced but it's still up to the individual Walmarts manager.
But I've noticed the same thing some of you have noticed and posted here. That there are regular priced Legos (and toys) in a clearance section of the store. What I was told was that the Legos (and toys) will go on another clearance ***FEBRUARY 1rst***. She thought that they may go from 50 to 70% off but wasn't sure. But they'll only be there for a few weeks because they have to get their 'spring/summer' outdoor merchandise in there by February 20th.
My local Walmart doesn't have much exciting left. Still some PQ but they put 10 Star Wars 7959 Geonosian Starfighters, 3 boxes of the Series 5 minifigures, some CARS and about 30 Lego watches.
Hope this helps and maybe your local Walmart is similar to mine!

Anything that give us insight on national price changes is a huge help. Now wish I could figure out which stores have managers that cared about moving old inventory... lol
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
Hit the three stores along the San Diego Bay today. Two had almost no inventory, while the third was decently represented. None of them had anything on sale except some cars sets at one.
  • DougoutDougout Member Posts: 888
I visited a bunch last week. Sales and stock varied from store to store. I found Scorpion Pyramid, Emperor Palpatines Shuttle, Plo Koons Jedi Starfighter, Quidditch match and Rise to the Sphinx at %50. Other notables I found were General Grievous Starfighter $35, Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship $35, Republic frigate $90(25%), Harbor $65(30%), Marina $35(30%), Space Center $50, Police Station $75, QAR $90, Black Pearl $75, London Escape $35, Whitecap Bay $60 and a bunch of the alien conquest sets which didn't interest me. I got most of the %50 off stuff, the Grievous Starfighter and the Bounty Hunter Ship.

I am happy about the shuttles and the last two SW sets because I haven't seen those discounted anywhere. I am hoping I can find the podracers discounted soon because every store seems to have a bunch, however I will only be visiting my local store when I'm around the area. Anyone still looking for deals, I would suggest going to poorer neighborhoods where people don't buy much legos. This is mainly where I found good deals, but every store does have its own clearance and inventory system.

@gmpirate you haven't seen if any walmarts in San diego have series 5 on clearance?
